Can definitely tell that Jared's been playing Blades in the Dark, lol. Bringing lots of good lessons from that system.

This is why Jared is the master. I've watched so many APs of Dune and other systems by GMs on other channels. They seem so slow and empty by comparison. Jared just gets it. Straight in with the tension and mayhem. No messing.

Dune nerd lore: As far as the worm/spice relationship, I think the Fremen know it, but in a religious sense where the mechanics don't really matter (you don't ask HOW god makes it rain when it's way more important WHY he doesn't, eh?) The imperium doesn't want to see it because then they'd have to admit they're all hopelessly addicted to giant worm shit. That's what made Liet Kynes such a pivotal figure. He combined the ecological science of the imperium with the religious context of the Fremen and saw how it all hinged on Arrakis unique system. Came here for the Dune, staying to learn about about RPGing, and it's been fascinating.

I'm watching all of this rather late - I started when the first episode was streamed, then life got in the way. There is so much great intrigue and character work, which makes me slightly ashamed to say that the point that I keep coming back to is.... Wow! Becca's hair is looking so great in this episode! The eye shadow, rouge and lipstick all really help, but whether it is the lighting, or a change of shade... Oh, yes, roleplaying, suspense, intrigue, great improvisation too! By everyone!

I love that series. Definitely all worth it to get to Best Served Cold, one of my favorite books of all time.

the three stand-alone novels after the first trilogie are incredible world-building-wise and the second trilogie rules as well, being a fantastic example of how to turn the wheel of history and time in your fantastical world (with former protagonists now being in the background and huge social shifts). seldom have I breathed through that many novels in a series as obsessively as with Abercrombies first law series.

I'd say Becca Scott and I could talk about the best book series ever, The Dresden Files, for well over an hour. Slightly disappointed she didn't pick Charity or Molly as one of her names though. Karin Murphy would work thanks to all those awful Karens ruining that name. To adapt a quote from one of the best TV series on right now, Jared took this entire series in a whole other direction. A very fascinating one though. Time to find some tadpoles and a decent dehydrator.
