Do you want to see North Wilkesboro as a points race? Why or why not?

When this track ages just a tiny bit, and the short track package is fixed. This race will be good as hell. Schedule it for a hot weekend and some higher HP?? Get the tempers going with the drivers, so much potential

I’m literally waiting for North Wilkesboro to have an Xfinity race and a Cup points race. Hopefully 2026. Bring back the 400-lap race!🙏🏁

I would be all for North Wilksboro having a points race. I’ve been lobbying for it for years.

North Wilkesboro totally still deserves a points race. The truck races they've had show that the track has tremendous potential, NASCAR just needs to figure out this short track package.

They definitely deserve a points date as well as Rockingham! A points race could make for a better racing product with lap traffic. Logano led all but 1 lap but he also didn't have a lot of lap traffic to deal with.

When I was growing up, NASCAR always took Easter Weekend off and Mother's Day Weekend off. As for North Wilkesboro, they should have a points race, and I believe the racing would be better if you had 40 cars out on the track. Last night, some of the best racing up front was when Joey Logano was trying to put Bubba Wallace a lap down. That allowed 2nd & 3rd place to catch up with Logano. You would have bump & runs with the leaders trying to put guys a lap down and drivers trying to stay on the lead lap. Overall, North Wilkesboro is old school NASCAR and even though it only seats 30,000, it looks better on tv for those 30,000 seats to be full than have 50,000 in a place that seats over 100,000.

If this happens in my view, then it also opens up the possibility of the All Star Race slot being moved internationally & NASCAR really attempting to gauge interest in the sport outside of the US. Both Montreal & Mexico City would be the ideal places to have the All Star Race in this scenario as NASCAR has raced at both places in the past with the Xfinity Series to large crowds. There is also a growing decline in the popularity of F1 in both countries that NASCAR could take advantage of. If the All Star Race is a success in either Montreal or Mexico City, then they should be added as points races shortly after to help NASCAR grow in either country.

Having a full field would help the racing here as well. The multigroove aspect of the all star race was very entertaining for the first 10ish laps after restarts, put twice as many cars on the track as they had this past weekend and I think those stretches could go much longer. Plus when they figure out the short track racing that'd be even better

I personally feel that the NASCAR All-Star Race has outlived its usefulness, and that North Wilkesboro Speedway should be awarded a points paying night race. I'm not sure the best time of the year for such an event to be held, but here would be an excellent title and sponsor for it: The STP Legends 400. This would be a too perfect pairing, the title sponsor of the driver that won 15 Cup races at NWS, and a honoring of the legendary drivers that raced and won at NWS.

I wish they would bring back the gen 6 car for the short track and road course races exclusively. The truck races have been great there.

well 2025 won't feature a points race for this track like i forgot so that imo is interesting, especially considering that it creates a stop-gap between now & 2026. i'll be more than shocked if nascar doesn't significantly improve upon their short-track & road-course program between now & two years from today. i just get a vibe it'll happen, & quite convincingly at that. in my opinion, it's not if but when nwb gets a points slot. the logic, timing, & circumstance makes total sense.

A high horsepower/low aero grip package would make racing here so much better IMO. That being said, the racing has improved from last year. I think there should absolutely be a points race next year.

North Wilkesboro deserves a Points Paying Event Even though The Short Track Package is underwhelming to say the least

Definitely think NWB should get a points race. And I think running it on Father’s Day weekend would be cool. Give it a theme and a weekend to connect all generations of nascar fans at its most historic track. Maybe SMI takes away a Vegas race. I know Vegas is a bigger market but the main reason it got a 2nd race was to boost the tourism in the fall. Since then Vegas has gotten a NHL team, NFL team and a F1 race. So it might not be needed anymore, plus attendance for the 2nd was really never good.

It does deserve at least one points paying race. The fans show up at North Wilkesboro that is obvious. It’s more the cars not the track in this case. Even in the 80s and 90s at the end of Wilkesboro’s time, the cream always rose to the crop and it was usually the top 10.North Wilkesboro showed, who was the best who had the best car, and who the best drivers were. My only case is they need to work on the short track package with this car. You get some decent racing at Wilkesboro this place will shine once again.

I think it deserves one. I think with more cars on track and more lap traffic it could ramp up battles for the lead. I also think a day race would make things more interesting especially if the race stays in its current place on the schedule. I think we need to work on the short track package and tires to really make this a reality but I’m all for it. Nothing wrong with a good ole ass whoopin either

Rockingham will be back next year for one of the top three series. The track owner hinted at it himself.

I appreciate that Nascar hasn't forgotten where they came from. However, I think they should've just left this track back in 1996. They've outgrown it.

Put a full field of cars on the track and run 400 laps would help the racing a lot more. Dividing the race into a 100 and 2 50 lap segments really didn't let the tires wear out like they should have

while this isn't inherently an argument for points races, I feel like a lot of people are overlooking one of the core reasons bringing the track back got greenlit to begin with: it was to help the local economy of the county. The track brings job opportunities, and provides a venue that SMI can rent out for weekly racing/car shows/concerts/whatever else anyone wants to hold there, and the county can put a fee on that to get more money, which in turn can help keep taxes down, or possibly even lower them a tiny bit in the area (though that's a long shot to how much it'd actually do). If putting a points race in Wilkesboro will provably help their economy, I support holding a points race there 100%.

Have the race during the day and watch the tire wear with the soft tire improve dramatically

Yes they need more cars out there and they will have to fight traffic , it will make it so much better. No one can really get a big lead undeservingly

If they can fix the Short Track Package. Then sure. Otherwise, I think it’ll be a Xfinity/Truck series only stop within a few years once the attendance goes back down.

It doesn't need a points race "right now" with this package. The leader led 199 of 200 and couldn't really be passed. Once the package gets fixed, then yes, it would be good

A points race with a full field of cars would produce a much better race. Long green flag runs, Lapped traffic, etc. Nascar killed their own gimmick with the Primary vs Soft Tires by scheduling a planned Caution every 50 Laps...

The racing was much better this year and actually had a lot of passing in the middle of the field. Especially after pit stops. My guess is the TV just showed Joey Logano the whole race. If there is a full field of cars as well as more laps to increase strategy and tire wear I think that would be a much better race.

Give the fall Vegas date to NWS and move the All Star race back to Charlotte. If you're not gonna give the teams more bye weeks, at least give them two weeks at home in May.

As someone who lives near North Wilkesboro, I don't want people to hate the track because of the car... We saw good racing for position... just not the lead

My Opinion is if hope NASCAR Add North Wilkesboro become of Point Race Replace Bristol Spring Date that be Great and NASCAR keep One Bristol Date Race with Night Race that will be become Crown Jewel at Bristol Night Race and NASCAR All-Star Race Rotate Tracks to IRP Indianapolis Raceway Park for All-Star-Race and Non-Points that will be Perfect for 2026.

It's not N.Wilkesboros fault that 1. The Allstar race didn't do hot when it went to Bristol, the only other short track to get an Allstar race, why are we mad when it's again shown short tracks aren't good for the Allstar race. 2. Those soft tires were still too hard. I get it the lower Temps didn't help but the fact JoLo went on to win when only chamging his tires once and ran it on soft proves Goodyear again failed us. 3. The short track package once again has shown us that this car wasn't made for short tracks and nascar messed up big time. They need to start seeing about working on adding horse power. It seems like the gear ratios were pretty close to how drivers want it so I'm not worried about it. Overall, give N.Wilkesboro a 400 lap race with a full field of cars in May or September during the day with tires softer than what we got last night I think we might be onto something.

Have it as a playoff race, 2 Truck races a year, And maybe consider Xfinity

Short track racing for Cup series is bad but I believe Xfinity and Truck series would be better

Please make it a points race...worst part of all star race is if my favorite driver doesn't make the cut then watching the main race is not that exciting. Also hate that dudes with solid performance get nothing tangible.

This track in 2026, should be a points race, Charlotte should get the All Star back (even tho I agree with Brock Beard with Atlanta). Likely won't have COTA in 2026 cause the SMI Lease they have. I see Wilksboro taking that race date.

If NASCAR fixes the short track package then yes if they don't then no based on the racing product on track. Sure Larson going from the back to the front was great but otherwise the racing wasn't that good.

No, maybe in 5 years once the track surface wears in and they could actually pass I wouldn't mind a points race, then and only then though. But right now? No, who wants to watch 400 laps at North Wilkesboro where nobody can pass after 5 laps and one guy leads the whole time? No thank you. I didn't need reminding, I've always been of the opinion that North Wilkesboro was never a good track that produced good racing and I think it's blind nostalgia that it was brought back and people are doing a lot of mental gymnastics trying to justify how the track is actually good. It's not, stop pretending. Go watch old NW races from the 80's and 90's, most of them were just like what we saw these past 2 years. Even Ken Schrader said in an interview that NW was never good to watch races on but fun track to drive. It may be a track drivers like but it's not a good track for fans, especially with these cars and the low HP that just makes passing that much harder on flat tracks like North Wilkesboro. This is why it's rumored we're losing a Richmond date next year to make room for an international road course race. Good riddance to Richmond, North Wilkesboro's sister track and not sad to see it go at all. People say 'but the truck races were good'. Not really, the only time they could make passes was when they caught lap traffic and got slowed down enough trying to pass the lap car that the guy behind them caught and passed them. It's not a good racing product when you have to rely on lap traffic just to make passes and put on some kind of race. Even the gimmick tire options didn't make a lick of difference, everybody was running equal speeds no matter what tire they were on. Just the soft tire took off slightly faster because it heated up faster, it only took a few laps longer for the prime tires to equalize but by that time, they were too far behind on a track where you literally can't pass so it was a lost cause. Total pointless gimmick. I say it all the time on these Nascar videos but if there's an old track that deserves to get revived, I would've taken Rockingham 100 times out of 100 over North Wilkesboro. Nascar fans just proving again how blinded they are by nostalgia.
