I think you're right about a lot of Butchers ending up in Denver. I lived in Colorado Springs the last half of the '70s and there was a used record store called Recycle Records. I went in there one time, saw a Butcher on the wall and commented, "Those are pretty rare." The guy that owned the place said, "Yeah, I get about one a month."

My son acquired a promo-punched Beatles VI with a bunch of otherwise junk (like, for free from a friend's grandparents or something) - has the "See label for correct playing order" rear cover - I think it's mono and roughly VG or VG- ; I'm the dang Beatles collector in the family, but as yet have managed to resist pinching it from him :-D What an absolute treasure trove, and refreshing to see records that were basically taken care of! Great job and congrats on a great deal.

...thx for your note, i wanted to comment the same! i think i saw in the internet decades ago a 'boom' with the red (old style, like the their 1st) ettiquette label, but i think it was a promo, stock copies i always saw with the style here shown 'big e' ettiquette logo! in discogs are pix of violett and red 'big e' logo labels, that confused me! i also would like to ask the 'in-groove' guy if all the 'here are' LP's are on really heavy or the more flexible vinyl! the VU is also a 1st press, only with the sticker on the back to hide eric emerson! three 'the beatles' butcher are fantastic - congrads for his grab...

My best friend in high school called me excitedly one night. He had learned that they had pasted over some Beatles butcher cover LPs, and his was one of them. He later traded it for a Phil Ochs album. Then again, I bought his violin-style bass guitar and traded it to get an acoustic guitar. Ah, if only we knew what the future value would be.

It's a shame about 50's artists being forgotten about by the current generation of record buyers, when record collecting took off in the 80's and 90's most dealers and collectors were people in their 40's and 50's, and now it's people in their late teens / early 20's who will mostly buy reissues, although mint or near mint copies of highly sought after LP's have been able to fetch astronomical prices over the last decade or so I get the feeling that as the years go by fewer and fewer people will be willing to dish out large sums of money, fortunately for me I became addicted to vinyl in the early 80's and for about 20yrs I hit every second hand store in Melbourne (AUS) every weekend and I would buy up big, original clean US pressings of Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, QSMS AND a near mint copy of Bull of The Woods all for about $10 a piece, I would spend my entire weeks wage on U.K. and U.S. psych, folk and prog. Over the last 30 or 40yrs I've seen fads come and go, once upon a time people went "ape shit" over Edwardian and Art Deco furniture and now that stuff is impossible to move, I hope I'm wrong about the future of record collecting but only time will tell.

23:15 that's fascinating that you think it's an undervalued record. I would agree with that as long as it's vg++ to near mint condition with most of the peel. It will definitely go up in value but I don't what the catalyst for that would be. I think the boomer and gen x value that record much more then gen Y and gen z. Like you said about the early 50's records not being as in demand now as they were 30 years ago I think it's possible that the newer generations of record collectors will not favor old music as much. I guess I'm just speculating because I see gen y and gen z collectors seeking out limited color variants of new music more often then vintage classics. I may be an exception as a 28 year old that is mostly interested in vintage 60's 70's psych, jazz, 80's 90's alt rock. I do know there's alot people my age that want old music too. I'm happy to own a few different original pressing of the Velvet Underground & Nico. I posted a video of them on my channel.

I had that Scared Mushroom, sold it for decent $, and bought a re-issue. I have a bunch of Beatles first US pressings but nothing sealed or with hype stickers. I found a 1968 Velvet Underground & Nico a couple of weeks go with a complete banana peel for $1 - and, like Mike, I'm not selling it. I also found a Sun Ra album today (I'm guessing $70-$120?) also for a $1. Tomorrow I'm unloading a bunch of duds (nothing over $6) to a guy for trade - I'm hoping to get one or two decent albums. Fun times for sure. rock on!
