Frank, Tim Maia is an icon. He died in 1997 an still Big here. In this record I’m particular (racional), he stoped the drugs and alcohol to follow a church, a bizarre church. In this time his voice got the bests tones. One day he saw the church was a mistake and took out of circulation this record for years. Great full that we have now Easy. Before internet was almost impossible to hear that music. You must see if exist up there his biography, Tim Maia - Vale Tudo. This and other stories you see there, and is so much fun. He was so eccentric

Hey Frank! I highly recommend the movie "TIM MAIA" (2014) that tells his story. It's not a documentary. Incredible performance of the actors who play Tim's roll in different phases of his life. I love this movie!

Tim Maia composed also an album called "Tim Maia Racional" to pay homage to a religious sect of which he had become a member for a while, called Universo em Desencanto. As you can see, besides being genial, Tim Maia has lived intensely and tried all kind of hard drugs, including religion.

Tim Maia had a wife and they was always fighting one another and she ussed leave after that. ONe time he was at Italy (if I´m not mistaken), she left to Brazil and he came to pick her up and returned in a matter od 2 days. He went to the airport on his pijamas to pick her up lol Another thing you mentioned, he doesn´t have any lives for this CD because he bought the rights from this CD and get it all copies he could back. These musics was a mith. He made for a religious group and the music actually contains a lot of their believes, but it speaks in different ways. He got upset with the religious leader and bought the rights and removed from the streets, he never sang any of those musics anymore. After he died, his family released this CD again. Nobody had it for over 20 years this master piece. This is our Tim, the crazy life style, Tim.

The reason because this song has no live version it's because the track was cut from the first release, but become cult because a bootleg version. It was only officially releaser on 2005, long after his death. One of the reasons the song it's know it's because the track "O Homem Na Estrada" from the rap group Racionais MCs used it as a sample. Also, I recommend you to react to Racionais MCs

Congrats Frank, very good! Try Racionais MC - O Homem na Estrada. They sample the basis of this Tim Maia masterpiece. Actually Racionais have this name due to Tim Maia's album called "Rational" (Tim Maias masterpiece). Racionais MC is the biggest rap band in Brasil since 90's. They are aggressive, gueto song with deep and critical lyrics, specially about social and black people situation in Brazil. Very, very interesting.

O cara gosta de músicas de verdade, poesias bonitas, melodias agradáveis, orquestras e cantor em sintonia. O cara ouvindo Tim Maia, você vem militar e recomendar Racionais, onde as letras são apologias disfarçadas de critica social. Quando tinha 15 anos amava racionais, me fazia sentir parte do submundo, defensor dos pobres e oprimidos, via nos vilões, os heróis. aí a gente cresce e vê que as músicas deles não são tão boas assim. Recomendo isso pra vc, cresça. Recomenda um Djavan, Luiz Gonzaga, Arlindo Cruz, Jovelina Pérola Negra... todos negros, de favelas, pobres, mais ricos em poesias.
