That's the reason why I'm pursuing a degree in computer science is because there's a correlation between technology and censorship. When you live in an ever-increasingly interconnected digital world like we do, there has to be some understanding of technological terms such as algorithms, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and quantum computing. The problem with American society currently is that the majority would rather be seduced and swayed by the technology rather than understand how it can become your worst enemy. Right now, we have too many worst enemies that are well-versed in technological advances and implementation.

You can be the best programmer in the world, but the way tech companies are biased stems from executive decisions from the top. If you don't modify the system as they see fit they'll replace you with another programmer who will.

The people doing this fail to understand the consequences of “shutting down” dissent. It angers the people being attacked, thus increasing the likelihood of revolt down the line.
