The crispy dried fish in the champorado is meant to contrast the sweetness of the champorado. It is very nice. You have to take it after a mouthful of champorado. You have to mix the champorado first before eating. Same with arroz caldo. We mix everything first before eating. Lovely to see you all enjoying Filipino foods.

I am a filipina based in Bournemouth UK, south west of England for almost 20 years. I just wanted to drop by and let you know how incredibly happy I am watching your vlogs in the Philippines. The way you showcase the best of the Philippines, from its beautiful sights to its delicious food and amazing people, truly makes me want to go back home. I have to say, your dad and Clare are absolutely amazing people. I thoroughly enjoy their food reviews and the way they describe the flavors and textures. It's like I can almost taste the dishes through their words! They can be food vloggers! 😊 And let's not forget about Koda! He is such a cute and happy boy, always bringing a smile to my face whenever he appears in your vlogs such a good boy you raised him well exposed in filipino culture. Thank you for sharing your adventures and experiences with us. Please take care and keep those vlogs coming. I can't wait to see more! Xx

I liked very much that you as a family have become more of an ambassador of Filipino cuisine for Britain and the British people. I live in the UK and I’m Filipino and missing so much our food and how it’s cooked to perfection which I hope you continue show to the world how good Filipino food is as it’s always underrated and recreated/wrongly recreated by people/chefs from other countries. I love your videos, keep it going. I’m sure you brighten up the lives of Pinoys living abroad. God bless xx

bibingka and puto bumbong are actually traditionally served during Christmas season especially after attending simbang gabi (literally translated to night mass). Usually bibingka would have salted eggs but now it is readily available in different versions. the scent of those delicacies and of the early hours of the morning is very very nostlagic

most Filipino food is intended to be eaten with rice, which is why the dishes on their own are seasoned strongly. The rice balance or softens the strong flavors. Tip: if the dish is too salty/sour/sweet/spicy, just add more rice to your spoon to water down the strong flavor.

A silog is any meal with fried rice and egg. Si - first syllable of SInangag (fried rice) Log - last syllable of itLOG (egg) Add the first syllable of the protein to complete the name of the meal. e.g. tapa (tapsilog), longganisa (longsilog), tocino (tosilog), bangus (bangsilog), chicken (chicksilog)

Great JOB Lucy and George, the way you entertained your Dad and Claire was a very Filipino way, you act now like Filipino people in heart and I am proud of you Lucy and George for introducing it to your Dad and Claire in regards to your life- Style in the Philippines for the past years you lived in my country. Even the places to visit; like Coron and Boracay, they have a good time. I always waited to see your video on how your trip and vacation experience with your Dad and Claire. Yes, the Filipino foods; were always Savory because everything, are fresh from the ocean, trees, and butcher houses; not like both the USA and UK countries, everything is always frozen meat. I miss the Philipppines. LIving in the USA is not as fun as in the Philippines.

Filipino cuisine mixes native and Western style food. We don't have standard dish for breakfast, lunch, dinner like white people. Toast, eggs, bacon or ham, cereal, pancake, oatmeal for breakfast everyday like them. We have these too but we have a wide range to choose from. We can eat pizza for breakfast. Rice with sinigang, etc. The choice is endless. Plain or garlic rice. Champorado alone or with fried dilis. I like how they plated this. Dilis is separated from champorado so you eat it or not. You need to mix in the milk into the chocolate rice. We also have a lot of native cakes from region to region. Bibingka. Cuchinta. Biko. Suman with ripe mango and coconut jam..We eat them as desserts or merienda or breakfast. Food adventure for tourists. Fried boneless bangus with garlic rice for breakfast with eggs. One of my favourites. Pork or chicken tocino. Longganisa from different regions. Itlog means egg. Ilog means river. So all dishes with log have egg in them. They should also try embulog. Embutido with egg. Bangsilog is fried bangus with egg and rice. The "si" in the middle means sinangag, Tagalog for fried rice. I'm impressed by how much Lucy and Jason know about Filipino food. Their kids will grow up with Filipino palate.

Since you love tapsilog, I'd love to share my grandmother's tapa recipe, which has been in our family for over a century. Simply mix two tablespoons of sea salt or rock salt with a tablespoon of granulated sugar, and black pepper powder to taste, then massage that into one kilo of beef (I prefer to use sirloin) that you've sliced into strips. Let the beef absorb the marinade for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator before you fry it in a very hot skillet to your desired doneness. Serve this with garlic fried rice and sunny side-up eggs. You can also batch-marinate your beef so you can simply fry up what you want. Like most meats, beef tapa tastes better the longer it has to absorb the marinade.

Good choice of resto for pinoy food. SILOG meals are the way for pinoy breakfast because of the "SI" and the "LOG" --- SI for SINANGAG or fried rice, usually the left over rice from last night's dinner; with the LOG short for ITLOG or the egg any way you want it over easy, well done or scrambled! SILOG paired with any type of meat beef, pork, chicken, fish, etc. All time favorite, Pinoy all day breakfast! I love the way Lucy's dad express it "Tasty!", Claire's "Lovely!... What's not to love!"

Glad you all enjoy the meal, but just want add, Filipinos don't normally eat sinigang and crispy pata for breakfast. Well, maybe if there's leftover crispy pata from the previous day or sinigang for lunch was cooked and served too early, then it's possible 😂 They are usually eaten for lunch or dinner because they are time consuming to make for breakfast. Also crispy pata much like lechon is quite expensive to be eaten for breakfast or daily. It's mostly reserved during special occassions or when dining out with friends and relatives. Maybe you mistook or misread 'sinigang' (sour stew) with 'sinangag' (fried rice). Silog meals comes with sinangag. Silog meal for breakfast is quite heavy so it can also be considered as brunch. Another typical breakfast on the lighter side is with freshley baked pandesal bought from the neighborhood panederia or bakery. Typical middle-class Filipinos usually pair our breakfast meal with a hot warm drink like: coffee, cocoa, salabat, and choco drink or milk for the kiddos. Very rare we have shakes for breakfast. Sometines with a silog meal, we just have it with plain water. Filipino kids also love hotdogs for breakfast. It's the red sausage you see at the local grocery store or market. Adults love them too that's why there's hotsilog too (hotdog+fried rice+egg). Silog meals are popular that's why some food places offer them throughout the day and not just for breakfast.
