The Detroit Pistons over that last 13 games have gotten out scored by a total of 91 points. But when Cade Cunningham is on the court that number drops down to just 2 points. In this video we're gonna breakdown Cades film to see what makes him one of the most impactful player in the NBA.

Cade's bad whistle also hurts his finishing ability. It seems like he hasn't earned any respect from the refs yet.

He would be averaging at least 28 if got calls he damn near has to get tackled to get a whistle.

@@kyriedagoat453 the Dallas game was crazy because Luka got damn near every whistle!! I'm not saying that they're players of the same caliber, but the whistle disparity for the two was appalling

@@WarrenF19 I noticed that as well. Luka is notorious for throwing his head back and crying for calls. I like everything about Luka except that. Cade can get bumped a lot harder and even throw his head back the exact same and refs won't call it. Maybe they feel like it's not a foul unless players make a big deal about it.

@@KevinDavidson-fj6xj lol, it's my least favorite part of his game. I also hated this in Harden's and Iverson's games; these guys are too damn talented to be hunting fouls, but if the refs aren't gonna call it, I understand. This could also be the reason for their lack of playoff success (minus Iverson)

Cade Cunningham has become the fastest player in Piston's history to reach 1200 points and 400 assists in a single season (54 games played). The previous record was held by Isiah Thomas, reaching the benchmarks in 55 games in 1984.

@@garyweglarz It's by design, the Pistons front office trying to fool the fans into thinking he's a superstar. It's going to be the same thing every year with the same excuse that he needs to be surrounded by shooters.

Cade has to get over his slow starts in the season to garner more respect earlier. But his ability to get going afterwards is happening earlier and earlier in the season. He's even improved on his shooting, especially recently. Once his TO's go down, it'll be really hard to deny how good he is even among his hardest haters.
@cycleoflife565
@cycleoflife565 3 ай бұрын
I attribute his slow start to there being no one who could shoot from the perimeter in the rotation for most of the first half of the season. Teams could pack it in and double Cade without fear of getting burned for it. Bogdanovich was their leading scorer and best shooter last year and he missed most of the first half of the season.

While you have a fair point about Cade's paint finishing, I think some of the reason for the numbers is due to him attempting more shots than he'd otherwise want to in an attempt to reduce the pressure on his teammate by giving them the ball in anything less than a clear open look. Also if you see the amount of Duren screens featured in this video, that's what makes me think the Pistons aren't going to be as willing to move off of him as some fans seem to want this offseason (due to his defensive lapses).

This is still one of the youngest teams in the league, along with not having the kind of draft capital AND position most NBA teams (especially the young up and coming ones) are graced with. It's hard to do anything with a team in that situation. I give Weaver some credit with some of the picks and moves he's made, but others make me scratch my head like the Wiseman, Bagley, and Plumlee moves. Other than that, he's been solid.

It’s been poorly managed for sure, but they still do have young talent and likely a T4-5 pick this draft. I wish they’d stop playing Stew at the 4, or at least playing him at the 5 like 15MPG and maybe 5min at the 4 or w/e. He’d be best as a backup stretch 5. But Ivey still has high upside, Monty hurt his confidence and he’s gotta regain that, dude is explosive, can pass well in transition, blow by ppl, and he’s been a decent shooter. Once he can hit his C&S 3s at a good clip that’ll be huge. Ausar and Duren are crazy young. Duren still needs to improve on DEF a lot, but he’s 20yo and is already a double double machine. Ausar is a great defender, rebounder, etc. He needs more opportunities to grab and go in transition. Obv if he develops a 3 ball he would be unbelievable, not sure if/when that’ll come but he can be successful without one as long as he’s constantly cutting, setting screens, etc. Even Sasser is a legit bench guard who can really shoot it. They also have infinite cap space. I like Fontecchio who’s a good floor spacer and decent defender. They need to add more real NBA vets to this team there’s no doubt about that. They need more two way players, especially wings/Fs. I liked the idea behind the QG trade, unfortunately he’s been hurt. If he can stay healthy, he’s the type of 2/3 they need as a good 3P shooter on solid volume, and someone who can hold his own on DEF. We’ll see what they do in the draft, but like I said they desperately need to add legit rotation players that can shoot 3s and defend.
