Hey Joey would you be able to go through the leveling process you use for the top of the aquarium stand? You mentioned plywood but I'd love to see your process to ensure your tank won't crack. Thanks

Love that you did another stand video, especially with this one going into more technical aspect and behind the scenes of it. Currently in the planning stage for a Mega-Stand for the wife. We're building a stand that's gonna hold two 55s side by side, along with it getting boxed in on the top to put a 35inch TV on the top. Yay personal engineering.

Your video has been very helpful for me as I go in search of a stand for a 75 gallon tank I’m getting quite soon! I’d looked at countless store bought ready made stands and didn’t really like any of them, especially after reading reviews. So I went in search of a heavy wooden table! Found a couple but didn’t know if they would be exactly suitable but based on this video the one I liked best IS quite suitable! It’s built much like that last one you showed with no center piece, except this has 4x4s for the legs! Very stout!

Good video. Got a few good tips for my next build. Although, I much prefer the "guides" to be the full height, then they directly support from the tank to the floor, with no shear loads and no connections, especially if you put a piece of ply on top to help distribute the weight more evenly. Looking at the construction of available stands, I prefer the DIY stands not as much for the savings, but the commercially made ones are not build nearly as robustly. I think their safety factor is more like 1.1 than 4 times! I bought a used 120G with stand; looks very nice with pretty trim, but once I looked at the structure I was like never getting a commercial stand again!

Thanks so much this helped with my overall design i was pretty close on my own but double checking i fixed my design. And can be on my way to building this. Instead of plywood im doing 2x8 top put them together then stain and poly it all . Then add the bottom shelf. 50 long , 20 wide and 30 tall . My tank is 21 inch high by said and done my height should be around 52ish depending how thick the 2x8s are i just dont recall till i get em. This helped immensely with my thought process to tackle this way better. Awesome video. I would of liked to see more close ups. Top view its nice to see how its all tied in together than just looking a few feet back. I paused it and was able to pick out the design. Thanks so much!

Ok this tutorial was definitely what I needed!! I'm planning on making my own stand for my first ever aquarium and I want it to be very long since I want it to also work as a media unit for the TV. So I'm talking 3 meters long (about 10 feet) but not so high, no more than maybe 1.5 feet. I was thinking of doing like 4 middle supports and have it standing on legs made out of 4×4 positioned right under the middle supports. The aquarium is a 30 gallon and will be put on the right side of the long stand. Do you think this will work?

Hey Joey, great video!! I'm a big fan. I'm going to build one just like this. Couple questions: - If the stand is not level: can I simply put some shims under it to adjust? - Could I add legs under this? If so, anything to watch out for? - If I wanted to make a walnut wood casing for it, should I simply attach it to the frame directly? (screws, dominoes, glue)
