In light of Alex Trebek’s tragic death on November 8, 2020, fans are going back through their favorite moments from the host’s whopping 37 seasons on Jeopardy! While the Canadian-born emcee was always good at cracking jokes and making contestants feel at ease, there is one particularly heartwarming moment from a recent episode that a lot of viewers are returning to. The winning contestant on the November 5th episode revealed something about his upbringing that made Alex Trebek (and many viewers at home) quite emotional, so let’s take a look at one of Trebek’s last Jeopardy! moments that will bring you to tears.

He was a Great man , He’ll always be Canadian but to be honest he belonged to the world . And the world is a little darker. To his Wife and Children, Thank you for sharing him with us over these 37 years. Be at Peace and good spirits knowing he is no longer in Pain. There are really no words to express the great loss we all feel at the passing of this man. He was great at his job, a true humanitarian, phillanthropist, husband, father, friend and son! I am reading his memoirs. The book is great written in a way that makes me feel he is sharing stories with a friend, ME! When he was exchanging vows with his bride, the pastor asked if he took her for his wife? He promptly said "The answer is yes!" All the guests laughed! No one person can replace another truly. What I hope for is a person to host that has qualities much like Alex. I think that's all any of us can hope for. RIP Alex

Dhruv Gaur, the man who sent the “We Love you, Alex!” message to Alex during the Final Jeopardy! round. He really deserves a medal. I’m sure that such encouragement came in such a sad moment, and the reassurance and encouragement it must have been to see the fans gesture their kindness to him and their affection for him, it meant a lot.

Lucky me, I watched Alex Trebek hosting the Reach for the Top show in my teenage years. It was awesome when he hosted Jeopardy. His personality was the same then as now. I don’t think I will be able to watch Trebek’s Christmas show, couldn’t handle it !

This brought me tears because I always watched Jeopardy with my sweet grandmother whenever possible, well into her 90s, and she loved Mr. Trebek. She passed away in 2018 and now I find myself teary-eyed over both of them. R.I.P. Mrs. B. and Mr. Trebek

I'm not even 1/4 smart enough to ever consider going on Jeopardy but that never stopped me from watching it in the comfort of my home and trying my best to act like I even understood some of the questions 😂. My ignorance did not stop me from enjoying the show and most of all the host Alex Trebek out of every show that's ever been on TV none have had a better host than Jeopardy! Alex made me want to know more he made me realize that even though I wasn't ever going to be intelligent enough to even get 50% of the questions correct I could learn 1 more thing today that I didn't know yesterday and that it was ok to want to be intelligent! They'll never be another Alex Trebek and the world's lost a great champion

We said the same thing after Art Fleming had been the host for so long. It will change, but we'll learn to love the new host. I'll bet it will be Ken Jennings or another of the big winners. What about a woman? What about Emma Boettcher. She's got my vote.

@@clairelivefreeordie2551 They kept denying it but after they hired Ken as an associate producer and to read the answers in categories, you have to believe they did so to get him accustomed to the production of the show, how things work behind the scenes, learn from Alex, and be ready should the unthinkable yet inevitable happen. Which it did. As a side note, Alex was 43 when he made his first appearance as host of Jeopardy. Ken Jennings is 46 now.

May this corporation see the error of their SELFISH , GREEDY ways or forever feel the ire of their used-to-be viewers. They have NO idea the hurtful feelings they are imparting, denying loyal JEOPARDY viewers our last two weeks of this Forever Icon which we need as closure. Coming to terms with our loss. Over something unimportant as ...the almighty dollar. Millionaires insisting on getting the last cent for their overflowing larder. May their greed in this (supposedly) giving season be their downfall. Mr. Alex Trebek , I must confess, this lady has had a crush on you for years. Enjoying your intellect, poise, language arts - which might have been your (show off) moments, and well deserved. Your honest efforts to make this show the best always. Your encouragement of the students, and never letting a participant of any age feel stupid or failing. God blessed you Alex Trebek and you deserved His blessings with your humbleness. You are respected and LOVED. RIP, Dear Sir.
