Season 1 was a lot better, but also a lot more traumatic in the horror department. Feels like they really toned it down this season which kinda of affected the impact it had. The tie-in at the end was cool and not expected.

I think it’s all from the evil that white people and their ancestors have created which is evil, killing of poor blacks, slavery, racism, the list goes on! For many generations and still today racist white people exist everywhere… the entity that is targeting the black family in the show is the entity that was their for many generations. The entity is an evil demon that feeds off racism. that entity wasn’t a curse Until they moved into an all white community that targeted them and didn’t want them living their, hanging up nooses on their houses and harassing them its just demonic activity… This entity belongs to what the white people have created within themselves which is deeply rooted evil throughout history.. racism is very evil like how can you have that much hatred inside for generations upon generations, thats why its affecting the black family in the show generation afterwards and the cop is still dealing with being targeted because she was a strong black women. … because at the end black face showed up thats the entity in the show.. but it never shows its true identity which we all know whats really behind the black paint.. its doing black face and still showing the black family that they are to be forever demeaned and dehumanized… and yet again blackface itself is pure evil which white people created throughout history… this entity cant be fought It wins by racism alone tbh It’s really deep fr. Just my opinion.

Edmonds white adoptive family also profited from his pain. The "Dad" wrote a book that seemed to contain Edmonds emotional development issues. And it sold over two million copies. The dinner Edmond crashes ironically celebrates this books success as Edmonds life fails. The absolute cherry on top is the "Dad" refusing to help Edmond find the mental health resources he desperately needs.

No that is a legitimate concern. Years back there was a Christian community that adopted a bunch of African war orphans. Roughly ten years later they had a bunch of their teens get pregnant. The children were all mixed. Biologically speaking there is no reason why adopted siblings should not breed, and teenagers will be teenagers. You know 'With all that entails'.

I dont think the scare itself is a entirely separate demon from edmund more so that the scare is the pure manifesto of all of Edmund suppressed rage and pain. Its very clear that the scare isn't working for its own goals, it has a symbiotic relationship wit Edmund as if there the same person and the scare is only defeated when dawn tells edmund the things he's always wanted to hear deep down breaking him back down to human instead of the killing force he made himself into

In adoption there are many reasons why people adopt children it's not always because they want a loving child. Since this particular family adopted a second black childAnd this is a political family it's for a show. Most likely trying to warn off allegations of racism. Season 2 is phenomenal and as much as I loved the 1st this new piece has me obsessed. I’m on round two of binging the whole thing again and love your breakdown. It is absolutely spot on. To answer your question about Edmund’s well to do foster family, I think they have another Black foster child because it plays into the typical role of those with White Savior Complex: since they do tend to do things for show, but never for the long run. Once Edmund outgrew being a little boy, it wasn’t the same and as witnessed by their flimsy and pretty racíst outlook on a Black teen boy not being able to control his urges around the fair young lady as though he were an animal or inhuman. Chances that they’d find a reason to “return” the other charity foster once he got older would be pretty high.

The Tap Dance Man was taunting dawn to find out about her mother's family, just like in season one. The Tap Dance Man, i think is used as a voice of the viewer because its always seeking revenge. No negros were to live there and that pact was broken once the two families moved in. “ The reasoning for The Black Hat Man's terrorizing the Emory family and haunting their house in Them is revealed. The Black Hat Man, whose true name is Hiram Epps, made a deal with the devil in the 1800s when a community called Eidolan stood where East Compton stands now.”

I definitely liked season 1 better. I feel like this season was too slowly paced. There was more that could’ve been written . Especially with the son and grandma. But it’s not the worst follow up season. Also, I hate that she went through all that just have the minstrel show back up. It was a lazy written twist ending.

Can’t wait for season 3. Hopefully we don’t have to wait 3 years. Something told me the tap dance man would return and he did… will dawn give in? Will we even see those details or was his appearance just acknowledging the fact the family’s curse/haunting was still with them.

I enjoyed both seasons equally. I feel like Luke James was a clear standout in Season 2 though. The pain that he exuded while slowing losing his mind was something people will talk about for a long time. I feel like Season 1's journey through grief, depression and guilt led to a very satisfying climax with the entire family finding their strength against adversity. While Season 2's theme of lost love and redemption had its satisfying beats leading to a great conclusion. I do feel like the final act battle between Dawn and Edmund should have played out a bit longer with more but I still loved it

I watched season 1 and I guess it was trauma porn. I forgot the details. Thanks for refreshing my memory. I started watching season 2 and couldn’t stop watching until I finished the last episode. The twin brother was absolutely horrifying . He slid into that monstrous character as effortlessly as taking a breath. Superb acting by all. The supernatural element was a little troublesome. I just wished they had just let the twin brother be the homicidal maniac he devolved into. Great review.

I think the reveal of the photo was actually a bombshell that she got pregnant due to the rape. I went back to season 1 and the baby is just as dark as the mom when she's holding him. In the photo the baby looks much lighter skin, so I believe the baby is mixed. This season the family curse continued as well as struggled with identity. I think season 3 will follow the baby's story.

The only complaint that I have is they gave us only 8 episodes compared to the 10 from season one. I would have loved an episode strictly dedicated to Ruby Emory, diving into her life after leaving Compton, the same way the man in the black hat got his own episode.
