It is so refreshing to see a young lady with class. It is unfortunately not very common these days. I hate when people take God's name in vain or use profanity.

I have 2 pet peeves: 1. Women belching loudly in public 2. I was at an event in a wealthy community in Houston, and I kid you not, the lady next to me licked her knife when she finished her meal. *shudder* I was so embarrassed for her. Great video! I mindfully and diligently working on eliminating profanity from my vocabulary.

I see people "made fun of" all the time at work followed by "just kidding". I think is is low-brow and so incredibly unkind. It gets a lot of laughs, but I can't help but think this brand of "humor" is mean spirited. Witty, good natured banter is fantastic! Going for the jugular is NOT.

"Truly elegant women, they talk about ideas and concepts, and not people" -- that's so true, and such wisdom! Also inspiring. I think we as humans are prone to talking about other people, and growing means trying to lift up other people rather than criticize them.

Hi. Great question. I hope you do not mind if I answer here. I have changed the subject, and also addressed it by saying, "I'd really rather not discuss the lives of people who are not present. " I'm sure you have many other great topics for conversation,yes?" Then smoothly carry on by complimenting the manners and poise of the host. This is an elegant way to shut down gossip. Great question :-).

Good points. 👍 I think twerking is the absolute worst of all unladylike behaviors. Fighting or attempting to fight a person physically, making smacking noise with mouth while talking, poping chewing gum, being haughty and condescending to others...all are on the list of things I find distasteful. May God keep us from falling from the Grace of Ladyhood! 😊

Something that really caught my attention is directing your energy on more the positive things. Always putting out positivity and being more encouraging to others, like you said you never know what someone is going through and just being kind and giving off positive energy can make a difference. 🙂

I believe the advice here could apply to a gentlemen's conversation for the most part. In my experience, the profanity, gossip-type speech (or crass pseudo-compliments) and slang language are the most frequently encountered issues, but the explanation provided about these points and why they should be avoided seems sound enough for anyone, male or female.
@SayconTalks

Ann oh most definitely! I agree! My comment/question was sort of rhetorical because I really enjoyed the talk… But I recognize that a lot of men need to hear what you said--often times they will only receive information from other men. So I’m like -wow I wish I could find the male version of this to share with a man who will receive the information… Do you know what I mean?

l'm sorry l don't agree with you my lady. lt seems like you're telling women to just shut their mouths and watch us men ruin the party. Ladies pliz your voices should be heard. My advice to women is to speak their mind and not jus coil back and watch helplessly. Speak and speak loud and clear and any how.

I see where you're both coming from. I adore Modern Lady's channel and really appreciate any young woman who's so polite and ladylike. I also love gentleman with manners and hate double standards. I haven't seen anything suggesting Modern Lady has any, but because so many do, I think I understand your point of view. I don't think cursing is a big deal. Apparently people who are more intelligent actually curse more, go figure. But I hate a foul mouth. It's not appropriate to constantly curse everywhere. Too many people have no filters at work, curse around children, etc. I try to watch it on the curse words. When I do, they're more effective when I bust them out! Most of us vent, but we have to be careful not to gossip. I never share malicious gossip, but most people need to get better about not saying anything about someone you wouldn't say to their face. This is one area I'm working on because I'm not the most confrontational and sometimes I just need to vent if someone hurts my feelings or I don't know how to navigate a situation. Slang is whatever to me. I think certain words/expressions aren't too bad, but a lot of the time it can sound awkward. I think some people are more interested in sounding classy, and some people are more interested in sounding trendy. Kind of like fashion. To each his own. As for the pessimism and complaints, I don't think most of us enjoy being around someone who's negative and whines all the time. I totally believe we all have every right to have opinions, be passionate, and not be afraid to speak our minds, and talk about genuine problems and concerns. I'm a feminine feminist and think all the above applies to both men and women. My motto for both genders is be kind, polite, and positive. I definitely don't think it's okay for one gender to get away with all kinds of language and aggression and that another gender has to be some sort of stepford wife who's always happy, never debates and issues, and has no opinions on politics.
