Theodore Roosevelt National Park North Unit
In many ways, the north unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park is different from the south unit. The north unit does have a scenic drive. You drive 14 miles and then turn around and drive the 14 miles back. You will see many of the North Dakota badlands. In that drive, you can walk up a short trail and see a CCC building.
A bonus for Theodore Roosevelt National Park is whether you are in the north unit, the south unit, or the Elkhorn Unit, you won't have to deal with crowds, at least in the fall shoulder season. When we saw the CCC building it was about 8:30 in the morning, and we were the only ones there.
Bison are roaming the north unit in abundance. We also saw mule deer and wild turkeys. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting both camping units of Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
