Percy Faith ~ Theme From a Summers Place (1959)

This beautiful instrumental by "Percy Faith and his Orchestra" was released in September 1959, but it was not an immediate hit for him, and it was not until February 1960 that it hit the top spot on The Billboard Hot 100 where it spent 9 consecutive weeks at number 1, and it also reached number 2 in the UK charts.. The footage here is of the North Devon coastline which is a 15 minute drive from my home in England, but here in the Philippines at my other home it's very late and i am off to bed, but i will be stopping by my friends channels in the morning and catching up on their videos.. In the early 1960's my Mum used to take my sister and me to dancing classes at Denis Altmans in Leeds above Leeds Town Hall and this was played. What a lovely memory and such beautiful music. I remember we also danced to Moon River. Wonderful times, happy memories, time can't take those away!!

I love this music! I played this song at my wedding in 2004..and i danced with my Aunt to this.. I remember this song as a little boy growing up in the 60s and 70s in Queens Ny...oh the memories

Loved this since 1960 - then I was nothing more than a big kid - I've grown up a bit over the last 60 years but I still love this wondrous music... And I never tire of it

I am back to drift back in time again. I was 12 years old when my Dad and Mum used to listen to this classic on our old AWA Valve radio, I have loved it ever since.I am 76 years young now. Miss my Mum and Dad. Thank You Oldrecordclub for bringing back my memories.

I have never ever forgotten this music. I was born in 1957, I grew up listening to it.The record cover was white with green leaves on it. I feel like crying when I hear this beautiful music.

This tune..... I'm driving in beautiful countryside, the sun is flickering through the lush green canopy of tall trees,miles and miles of free, open road stretch before me and this tune crackles through the radio, Theme from a summer place. It's just a fantasy,I live in England !

In a place called Avalon Beach, north of Sydney NSW. It looked just like this. It was named after the Avalon in the USA, I believe. Not always rough weather like this, but it had its moments. Very small girl then. A long time ago but I don't forget it. Very much changed now.

There are a series of beaches and headlands and inlets called the Northern Beaches on the coast north of Sydney, NSW. My memory is of an earlier time than this when it looked much as this does.

The coastline around North Devon can be quite rough at times Nathan, in fact most of the seas around the UK coastline is quite rough and dangerous.. I got a kayak back in England, and on a few occasions when i have been out to sea in it, i have nearly been taken out by strong currents, so one has to be very careful when out in the waters here.. A Summer Place, but the song hit the charts during the really snowy winter of 1960, even here in the South. I associate it with snow days from school which rarely happened back then. All good, of course.

The best in my opinion and when im feeling some kinda way Not good , if i put this on i am like astral traveler back to a innocent time of my youth . Dear GOD im only 62 so this was my folks music :) but it sure reasonates with my soul , if i could show you what love i feel in my heart listening to this GEM OMG , when i was with my highschool love circa 1982 i remember playing this and her mom started crying as it took her away from her humdumb life too i was 21 when i found this again as an adult Ahh :)))))))) TY GOD Bless you Percy Faith :)

This dramatic footage was photographed in Ilfracombe, right on the north Devon coast, overlooking a stormy Bristol Channel. I recognized it immediately, because I lived up there for over five years. I Now live in Sidmouth, on the south Devon coast, overlooking the English Channel.

Percy Faith gave us some wonderful melodies although that at the time was was quite a bit of competition from the likes of Mantovani, etc. I just love the orchestral music from the era; such easy listening melodies which you can put on and almost just forget about as it plays in the background. That was one angry sea there mate and really pumping off the Atlantic. Great share and have a wonderful week.

Hello Andre, one never hears any good instrumentals these days, i think most of the best ones were made in the late 50's and throughout the 60's, and there was the odd good one in the 70's.. Yeah the seas around this coastline are quite dangerous, but then most of the waters around the UK can be dangerous.. We are going up to Scotland for Xmas, staying in the Cairngorms. We'll be within a few minutes' drive of several distilleries, so it's bound to be a good Christmas LOL! Back in the new year with a new-look channel here and a new style of video (nothing mega, but keeping it fresh).

Hey it's always good to keep one's channel fresh, i started out with the vinyl and my little red box record player, and then i moved on to the picture videos, and now i tend to do more of these live type videos, but am happy to try anything out.. i want to get a drone, my son in law has one, and i think i could use one for some videos.. Carl.. Lovely footage.. of North Devon coastline from your..home in England, I enjoy watching waves.. There very moving and relaxing to watch.. Perfect song to play along with it.. It gives it a magical, touch.. You are off to bed, in the Philippines..There must be a big time difference, between the two, countries.. I hope you are doing.. well, will you..be playing Santa for Tilly.. :-).. It is fun to have young ones around, there minds are so, in tune with so much fun stuff.. Hello Nancy, so pleased you enjoyed this video, yes North Devon has some lovely coastlines there, some of the best i have seen, i also like watching the waves, i find it so relaxing.. I think my ideal home would be as close to a beach as it could safely be, i love being by the sea.. Ha ha no i won't be playing Santa for Tilly, i have not got a long enough beard lol, and my tummy is not fat enough yet, but it give it time (Big Grin) Happy Christmas my good friend, and all the best for the coming New Year...
