Many, many years ago my dad blew out his knee doing Russian squats (or Kozatsky, or Prisyadka, depending on who you talk to and who they learned from) and had to have his kneecap replaced with a plastic kneecap. After he passed, we had him cremated and had to inform the crematory director of any artificial body parts. After we got done listing the aforementioned plastic kneecap, the metal bridge in his nose, the metal shank in his leg (the opposite of the plastic kneecap), and the metal plates and screws in his ankle, the director asked in shock, "What on earth did your father do for a living?!" "Dad was a ballet dancer." (In actual fact, only the knee was due to dancing, but don't spoil my fun. The look on the crematory director's face was priceless, and my dad would have loved it.)

It' s the "my dad would have love it" what balances the guiltiness I feel for finding it funny🫣😶‍🌫️. Clearly, you have inherited your dad' s sense of humour. And humour (sorry, Mr Goethe but you were sooooooo bloody wrong) is what will save the world. May your father dance eternally🧛🏻‍♀️🖤

@@sebumpostmortem Laughter, as they say, is the best medicine. No guilt necessary: Dad passed away more than 20 years ago. In fact, we was in a performance of the Nutcracker (he used to "guest star" with the local youth ballet long after he'd retired from dancing) just a few weeks before passing, and that was just a few years after badly breaking his ankle and being told that he'd be lucky to walk again, and would certainly never dance again. Of course, Dad had to prove the doctor wrong. He had a good long life.

The toe walk is compulsory in some ballet academies and rhythmic gymnastics schools🫤. At 50 yo (retired, obviously) my metatarso-phalageal joint is still able to toe walk feeling absolutely nothing since it was "broken" at 4 yo. It seems that the ballet chaos trend and its infectious music has now digievolved into a joint challenge🤦🏻‍♀️. 🧛🏻‍♀️🖤

As for the videos with people standing on the knuckles of their feet… it isn’t painful. I’ve always been able to do this. From what I know, it’s a genetic trait where the tendons and ligaments in or feet are particularly flexible. As a child I could walk on them on whatever surface, but as I got older and thus gained weight from growing, it does now hurt to walk on hard surfaces, as there is no padding on the side of the foot. That is why you see those people doing it on floor pads or carpet. So no. It doesn’t hurt so long as your not stupid and don’t walk on hard floors.

In the super fast dancing he’s rolling from the tops of his feet to his knees so it doesn’t hurt like that uncomfortable yea but if you do it right it’s not painful as well as the toe curled over it feels good for people with autism and mental stimulation disorders idk why it just does lol

If you mean the toe walking thing, yeah. I used to walk toe first and stand on my toes (not on point) and had to get physical therapy because it shortened the muscles in my calves making normal walking painful. I've broken the habit but I can still easily do it. I can also walk on point but just because I can doesn't mean I will. It is handy when I'm struggling to reach something though. By the way I am autistic and you are right it is apparently quite common though I'm also not sure why.

Reminds me of the time when I was falling off a horse and I had time to have a whole conversation with myself on how I should handle the fall. 😂😂😂 I considered grabbing the neck, so I could maybe get back on the saddle (it was a showjumping hobby competition) but then decided against it because it was unlikely that I'd be able to climb back up without touching the ground. The fall took maybe a second and I managed to land on my feet next to the horse. 🤭 Then I just got back up and walked out to cool the horse down before bringing him back in.
