They constantly complained about the food , the 3 star hotel , the people , the weather etc. Meanwhile they were overweight, first time they left America, uncultured , lived in trailer park , no sense of geography knowledge. Basically every American stereotype you could find and they were poor just won some free vacation to Europe. They criticised the health care system and called it a socialist communist country whilst they had no healthcare insurance themselves! I was baffled with their ignorance.

To her point, all meat has bacteria on it, and the bacteria grows more slowly when it's cold. However, health department regulations (generally along the lines of "can't be above 41 degrees and below 135 degrees for more than 4 hours") is not a requirement to avoid sickness and death. It's a strong guideline to minimize those things, but you can eat meat that's been sitting out for 8 hours and then cooked almost certainly without a problem... However, if you have the right potion, meat can stay out on the counter indefinitely and not have bacteria.

I think in countries like this where meat is usually sold unrefrigerated, people are just used to assessing the freshness of the meat by look and smell. that meat in the video looked very red and fresh. I'm no meat guy, I'm not sure if pork changes colour much, or if that was pork, but I know that beef gets very noticeably grey before it goes bad. flies could easily be a problem both by spreading pathogens to the meat (since the same flies also sit on shit), and by laying eggs on the meat. but in most countries, because the meat is not handled cold and clean, people just cook all meat well done, which tends to solve all potential problems. a bigger problem is going to be the potential spread of pathogens from handling the raw meat.

For a rudimentary refridgeration they could get those metal trays, freeze those and put the meat in there after taking it out of the fridge. My grandma worked at a butcher as a teen and young adult and that is what they did with fresh meat. They didn't have those modern refridgerating counters back then.

No one was saying she's wrong... But that he's not wrong either. Bacteria is on all meat. It just grows more slowly when below a certain temp. But what you live around and grow up around determines what you can eat. Ppl who are from there have always gotten their meat like that. And they have special gut microbes that outsiders won't have. So the meat being out like that won't hurt them. It's what they're used to. If you go changing the way they store their meat and then they eat it, it could cause more damage to their systems than any good it might do. What do you think happens when they start buying their meat from one guy with a fridge? Then he goes out of business or they have to buy some from somewhere else one day? Besides, there are still plenty ty of places without electricity, especially reliable electricity... so how could they use a cooler /freezer if they had one? It's the same as the tribes who eat raw meat or the ones who get stung by bees all day... it's the same as Montezumas Revenge. Just know that if you're American, you should gradually, slowly start introducing small amounts of their local food when you move somewhere... over a very long time period. But if you're just visiting? Maybe don't eat any at all. 😂
