Excellent vid. Got a tip for viewers. Lift the hood up, it’s usually easier to apply with hood out of way and while the hood is up remove the wiper arms . You will save yourself time and possibly some minor grief if you get Solution Finish on the black wiper arm as well it’s easier to work on cowling if arms are out of the way

Furniture oil is what people should be using. The reason trim and plastic fade is because of it losing the natural oils in the plastic. Restore the oils and it brings it literally to a brand new state. It will last until the plastic naturally loses its oils over time. We are talking YEARS. Might have to redo it around the 10 year mark. There is no need to spend a ton of money on these products. Also, zero prep is needed using furniture oil. It cleans your trim as you wipe it on. Wipe off the excess and you're good. There is no streaking or uneven spots.

Whats the difference between this and a trim restore / coating? and also do you toss towels after wiping off the stuff or can you just wash them?
@oneyedthing

Solution finish is solvent based. Much like paint, it adheres to the plastic trim. The ones you see on car sections on walmart are dressing types. Much like traditional car waxes, it comes off with a few car washes. Solvent does come off but lasts much longer than dressing types.

The Rag Company, I'm new to car detailing, so please indulge me. --What does Anthony mean at 3:01? Solution Finish Trim Restorer does not protect (coating?) your trim? It simply makes it pop? It won't protect from UV Rays or the elements? --If I apply a Trim Coating over the Solution Finish, won't that undermine the integrity of the Solution Finish? --If I apply the Solution Finish immediately after a wash, is the isopropyl alcohol still necessary?
@ArtyTomato

I would still use the isopropyl imo, just so you make sure that it will bond to the plastic trim

Bingo. I use furniture oil myself. People don't understand that to restore the plastic, you HAVE to restore the oils. I've seen a lot of people use teak oil, but I use boiled linseed oil. Not only does my trim and plastic look brand new, but my truck smelled like a freshly serviced gun for weeks 😍

What vehicle are we talking about here? I'm wondering what kind of trim it is, because I've never had a situation where Solution Finish didn't work perfectly. Did it have some kind of coating or some other kind of sealer/dressing on it that didn't get fully removed when you wiped with IPA? How long did you let it cure before getting it wet? When it is applied correctly and bonded to the surface, it actually provides good hydrophobic properties for quite awhile.

Furniture oil is better than every restoration product on the shelf. You want to restore the natural oils in the plastic, not blast it with a bunch of chemicals that do not work. If any of these products truly worked the way they claim, they wouldn't be making money- people would only have to buy their junk once.
