When I spoke Swedish people would respond in English. Then I'd say, "Jag talar inte tyska." (I don't speak German.)

Hello from the North of Sweden. I started watching you Stefan 5 years ago when you also had just started your journey in Sweden. The "Speaking Swedish after 6 months" was the first video I watched and you had just a few more back then. I had the intention of moving to the nordics but was not decided on which one to move to yet back then. Eventually many years later I now moved to Sweden last year, bought a house in the north, learned Swedish from youtube and podcasts during those years at home back in my home country and when I moved here, I knew a lot and can understand a lot, but it;s still harder for me to speak it and make proper long sentences. I would love to participate in the lock-in. Hopefully it will happen! It's an amazing idea and really well done for making it happen and keep on doing it! It will help a lot of us that have moved here and are feeling more swedish than anything else and are seeking a better life here in the north! Greetings from the High Coast of Sweden! 🌲🔥🦌

Congratulations on a great experience! I recall when you first spoke about this and you should rightly be proud of getting something this intricate not only off the ground but having it a success. I am sure that some wonderful friendships have also developed here that should last a lifetime. I will raise a glass of Punsch to you this evening. Well done to all who worked so hard to put this together!

Hej, Stefan! Love your vids. I am based out of FL in the states and have been learning Swedish for a few months now. Would love to move to Stockholm within the next few years. Do you have a checklist of "to-dos" for US citizens on moving to Sweden?

Just throwing ideas out there but I feel like the villa is the perfect setting for a staged murder mystery/whodunit/theatrical production entirely in Swedish. I think it would work especially well in the winter setting. Probably be a pain to put on but in a perfect world I think it could be fun.
@StefanThyron8 ай бұрын
Absolutely! The villa is already used for a Christmas program on SVT, but a murder mystery could be even cooler in my opinion

Stefan, my reading and writing in Swedish is getting much better. I can speak Swedish a bit haltingly. Where I fall down is that I have hearing loss in the 'soft consonant' range. Mix this up with the various accents and idioms of Swedish, I am having a tough time hearing and understanding the incoming side of Swedish. I will be getting fitted for hearing aids on October 2nd in, of all places, Vancouver, Washington! I live on Mount Hood and recently finalized the purchase of a farmstead about 3 hours north of Stockholm. Becoming more fluent is clearly something that is in process, yet happening at a pace slower than it was for me to learn German and Swedish. One thing that is also difficult is that there are Swedish pronunciations of words that look nothing like how they are spelled. I recognize the words when reading, but hearing them spoken often throws me off. I have been looking for Audible books in Swedish that are read by their authors or other Swedish readers. That way I could see and hear the words at the same time and it would greatly help my learning curve. Have you ever heard of anyone doing this? And not to step over it, your video was great.

I think that is a great idea to listen and read at the same time. I try doing this from time to time with Spanish!

I have a question about Swedish. I guess "tv:n" is the definite form of "tv". So what is the plural and definite plural of "TV"? How do you "TVs" and "the TVs" in Swedish?
@Divedown_258 ай бұрын
Fun activity. Your one liner needs a correction though, should be "roligaste" as this refers to the past funniest experience, "roligast'" is used when you mention what is the most fun to do (of infinite options not needed to be revealed)
