as a swede, swedish SUCKS to learn if you arent from there, the reason is that there are almost no language rules but if there are they have a whole lot of exceptions. As someone pointed out in the comments, even if you talk poorly, grammar doesnt matter that much. For example if i were to say "me have a apple" you will still understand it, it would just be weird

I do not agree about all you say. When I worked in multi-national companies in Stockholm we had no fika for example. Sometimes I worked from 08-03 and had to begin working again 8 the next morning. I also worked 70-80 hours a week due to tight reporting scehedules (monthly, quarterly, helf-year, yearly) or some other reports like budgets and so on. I also had to work on national holidays like Easter. I could never have holiday 4 weeks in a row (half year reports). If you have shorter working days in the summer, you also work longer than normal during the winter. When I went home in the middle of the night many cab drivers asked me about my work. Sometimes I said I worked as a finance controller and they said: thought so, all of you go by taxi from work in the middle of the night. Other times I said: guess. Almost all of them guessed something in finance. When I went to pubs and some male asked for my phone number (before everybody had cell phones) my friend said: you can try to phone her, but she is never at home. But, when I moved back to my home town (Kiruna) we actually had fika, but still long working days during the reporting periods. Now I am self employed as an glass artist and I decide how much and when i work. I do not earn so much money but it is worth it. By the way, the last company I worked in was a Japanese subsidiary (they say they work so much). Many times I found them sleeping at their desks, I never did so.

What I use to do is to take a swedish newspaper or Wikipedia article and copy and paste paragraphs on Google translate. This way I can see the similarities in syntax and lexicon much better and, of course, I also click on the audio button, making it all easy for me to learn. BTW, this works with every language. ☝️😉

Swedes stick to one style or only wear grey, black, blue and white. This is conformity. Even the opinions and taste are conformed.

Nice video ! 👍 (Important topics). Now, here's a simple guide to understand the Scandinavian/Nordic mentality ; 😶 We're few and far between. (We're naturally shy, borderline recluses. Chatterboxes migrated to the US, about a century+ ago....). 😎 Never trust a stranger. (He might be an enemy. Come to steal your house and your wife). 🥶 The weather's obviously mostly bad, so no reason for small talking. ☕️💥Coffee needs to be stronger than petrol, to keep us awake through 8 months of winter. ☕️🍪 (Fika = defrosting with "mys"). 😶 Churches are for weddings, funerals, and tourists. (Every Nordic person knows that God is everywhere, so you might as well have a conversation with him while you're plowing the fields. Or while hiking in the forest. Thankfully, there's no interference... 🌲🌲🌲👤🌲🌲🐿🌲🌲 Catholics migrated to the US for religious freedom, while the rest of us became Lutheran). Love from Oslo, Norway 👩‍🦳🇳🇴

Why should migrants limit or restrict themselves by behaving like Swedish Swedes? Sweden is a country of immigrants and asking foreigners to be more like white Swedish swedes is just racist and ignorant, its not Japan after all.

Thanks Stefan, after you explained the "eccochamber..." i understand more how the US can elect someone like Trump, and may elect him again despite all that goes on with him. About flags in Sweden, after having grow up in Germany I can say there are alott more flagpoles and flags in Sweden compaired to Germany and many of the european countries. Big diffrens, if you see a flagpole att someones House in Germany its problably a Swede, Germans dont have that. There is a roadragewarning about pasing on the right, I really hate it. Well done Stefan.

Its funny, almost all the things you mentioned about Sweden is the same here in Australia. It seems that the US is the odd one out with locked in mortgages and healthcare systems. You definitely have a type of "credit score" in Sweden, as Australia, but its just not displayed in the same way as a credit score. For example, if you go to apply for a loan and you have a credit card open, even if you never pay interest on it and effectively use it as a debit card (and to collect airline points) they'll still say thats an additional $500 per month liability.

The problem with videos like that, is that they are always very Swedish centric. While ignoring the fact that Sweden is a country of immigrants, and many different ethnicities, cultures living in Sweden may have their own ethics and models of behavior. One should just ignore such racist ''behaving tutorial'' videos and keep in mind that Sweden is multicultural country of immigrants, and do not restrict yourself with empty, boring social limitations which are common only for Swedish swedes anyway.

It is common to have wine or beer at dinner regardless of weekday, at least in Stockholm. But breakfast and lunch is a big no no if you work. Most companies have restrictions that doesn't allow any alcohol during office hours. But after work is different!

.. yeah 10:00.. hmm so as a person growing up with a background in Family&Private/Familje&Egen Business/Företag sector I can say that its a serious pain. The best thing would in many cases be if the system and people were flexible enough to meet halfway between the US-American way of things and the old Swedish way of things. Currently the issue causes a strangle hold on businesses that are in the transition phases so to say from small to medium and so forth. - Now in things like the Airport issue you guys mention, its a No go because of bureaucracy and security. Its just not feasible partially because of some of the same issue but on a macro scale. Mostly though its probably that there literally are no more of those people to hire. They'd literally need to train up new people which compared to the US is a much more serious thing. Another possibility being temporarily re-acquiring people who have worked with the like before then moved on or retired. Probably need to pay them even more lol.. oh and then there would probably be re-issuing of sec-clearances. Bottlenecks. - A comparative thought Swede/Ami, I can of course only speak for myself but as a Swede I consider US-America/ns rather slapdash in its/their approach to certain things. The whole any warm body "Will Do" mentality as long as it gets done, consequences.. what are those!? ;) Like for example schooling and other requirements for police and similar professions in the USA compared to many European countries. Truly Scary.

.. yeah the whole ID card thing can be more than slightly annoying if it expires. One always has to go get a new one before expiration. That said its super easy to forget because, really, how often does one use/read it other than to let someone else do so for its intended purpose. Time flies and all of a sudden facepalm. -personal life experience. Gött mos! och med hur omständigt det tycks vara at få Medborgarskap så tordes det mig, at om man i slutändan lyckats, så värderar man det säkerligen än högre. ;) Den som väntar på någe gott.. /Skål på Medborgarskapet!

As a board memeber of a housing association, if the number of people rent out their apartments long term - it can decrease the tenants engagement in the association itself. However there are something called "Likhetsprincipen" or equality principle, menaing that if they approve a person long term, they have to approve the rest applying for the same if the conditions are equal. Valid reasons (Legally or by praxis) are: - Doing military Service, - Serving a prison sentence - Trying out living with a partner - Working or studying at another city/country Some associations have approved renting out 6-12 months if the market is bad atm(meaning that its difficult to sell the apartment).
