Recently type moon (company behind fate) has been globalizing its product at break neck speed since covid ended. First it was the tsukihime remake, then the mahoutsukai no yoru english release and now we're getting fate stay night english release. It's been 20 years... Fate came out in 2004, some people in this comment section weren't even born in 2004 and the OG tsukihime which doesn't have an english version yet dates back to 2001 by the way. 20 freaking years people

I love that no one predicted One Punch Man being JC Staff except for Probably Pretentious. I had a strong feeling it would as well, but I was a bit swayed by MAPPA because I knew the higher ups would be willing to fit it in. I knew that Yusuke Murata was not gonna do that as he is going back to his roots to make a Mega Man anime.

I wonder about a full story with Himmel. He worked great as a recurring flashback character, but can he actually manage to hit the same, as a character who is always present and not just popping in during the most heartfelt moments. Also, considering how in the anime, he's basically a product of Frieren's nostalgia, I wonder if the actual Himmel is anything close to the idealized memories Frieren has of him? To be fair, even in her memories, he was still hilariously vain.

While I have my issues with Frieren, the way that the episode about Frieren and Fern searching for flowers captured the sheer crushing realisation that I think a lot of people go have where you had a chance to let someone who meant a lot to you know something really important and now that chance is so far gone that it can only haunt you was just… perfect. First-hour high-school class on a CR TV. I was in English class and the girl sitting in front of got a few of the details wrong while telling the English teacher about it. We students were given the option to watch the news in the history classroom or to opt out. I, of course, watched the coverage. I think that what hit me the most, was so many people jumping out of hundred-story windows to their death, just to escape the fire. A week or less prior, the history teacher drilled into our heads the fact that we were all alive for the fall of the Berlin Wall, but far too young to actually remember or be cognizant of it. He wanted us to understand that some time or another we would all be witnesses of some sort of similarly historical event . . . and that it would most likely be very, very bad. Then this happened. He was always pretty good about predicting the future by looking at the past. I think that for today's generation, that historical event is Jan 6, and the entirety of the MAGA cult collectively wiping their a-holes with the Constitution. As a runner-up, we are watching a genocide happen in real-time with the consent of the 'free world'; both Republicans and Democrats are cheering it on, with only a minority of sanity realizing that Palestine is being erased as a nation, at this has actually been going on for decades; twenty years from now, when all the smoke has cleared and today's socio-political trends have moved on, I wonder what history books will have to say about that. I'm sorry, I don't even know why KZfaq recommended this to me. I absolutely hate harem anime and the whole sister thing sounds cursed AF. I should say that I haven't actually watched the video out of fear. I just scrolled through the comments to see what people were saying about this, and couldn't help myself when I saw your 911 comment. In postscript, what the actual F is wrong with Japan.

There was a sister harem anime like 20 or more years ago, with like a dozen of sisters. And all i remember from it is that everytime the protagonist approaches a bunch of them, i have to sit and listen to a 15 seconds long of "big brother" call varriants.

So, might be a controversial opinion, but I don't want a single story about The Hero's Party to be in the prequel novel for Freiren if it's not going to be told as a flashback. The fact that we've never seen this journey that so fundamentally shaped who Freiren is today not told as memories is intentional and we are learning how those events shaped her as she realizes the impact they had. That's so crucial to her character arc and her slowly coming to terms with not only how much that journey means to her, but the people too. This is one long story about an emotionally stunted elf girl realizing that she doesn't truly comprehend the pain of losing someone she cares about, not because she has never cared about people, but because she ignores those feelings and pretends they aren't there to protect herself over her horrifically long lifespan. To see the events of the victory over the Demon King without crucially seeing them through Freiren's eyes would fundamentally change our perspective on the characters involved and lose some of the importance of the way they're being told. It would also mean that everything that we've learned about that time is no longer unreliable, because we've now seen the people and places outside of Freiren's memories. Was Himmel as over the top about his posing and looks? Maybe, or maybe it was Freiren's interpretation of someone that was slightly vain. Was Heiter an absolute drunkard and wasted 80% of the time? Possibly, or possibly it was Freiren interpreting a priest who still indulged his vices in a way that confused and slightly angered Freiren. Was Eizen actually a goddamn freak of nature that could take the most deadly of strikes and walk it off like nothing happened? Potentially, or potentially he was just sturdy and good at hiding pain/Freiren over exaggerating in her mind how completely reliable he was and his durability was closer to Stark's (who is still insanely durable but not immune to goddamn poison). That's the point. We have no idea if these are exaggerated memories in Freiren's mind or if they're the literal events that happened, exactly as they happened. To lose that characterization before Freiren's arc is complete will damage our perception of her arc and do a disservice to it. Once the series is complete, I'd love to see a selection of other stories and events from that time. At that point they'll be able to stand on their own terms without directly impact the narrative arc Freiren is currently undergoing that underpins the entire premise of the series.

the biggest news in the anime and manga world is the passing of Akira Toriyama and i would like to take a moment to give him the recognition he deserves. i did not always enjoy how DB and DBZ went but i will always look up to him for the amount of inspiration and impact he had in the lives of billions of people. he will be missed and i hope he is resting well with all the GOATs up in heaven.
