Congratulations, Asagi. There are certain aspects of Japanese dating that I don't like, some i like but what I do like a lot is the fact that using dating apps is not so frowned upon in Japan. I'm not sure how much it's disliked abroad but in my country it is frowned upon a lot. And yes, it can be difficult and a pain but I met really amazing people in Japan through that. Even other long lasting international relationships, I noticed they met through a lot of kinds of apps and i find it very cool. If you are careful you can have very great experiences like that. But I'm glad to see that so many international relationships are working out lately because I'm in one myself and it's comforting to see it's ok for others too. Because it has it's own struggles and people love to judge them too so it's comforting. Thank you for sharing that.

@@AsagisLifeNoBSJapan Agree. Surely it's a little harder than a normal relationship but it's the best relationship I was ever in. It's not the first one I had with a Japanese man either. So I was able to learn some mistakes I made in the first one but there is still a lot to learn about each other, which I'm looking forward to. The only bad part about it is all the mostly non japanese people telling me how bad Japanese are and how i'm just a trophy for him. For some reason when you are in an international relationship, random people seem to know much more about your own relationship through stereotypes. But I will learn to ignore random people projecting their biases eventually. Good luck on your pregnancy as well, I hope it will go well. You deserve a happy family.

First and foremost おめでとうございます, second of all, I have a question for you. Because I was going to do what your husband did. Move to Japan and build my family. At the time, I was studying the language and culture, and history. But as I learned more, I learned about how Japanese people treat people not born in Japan. The thing that broke me was any children that I would have been treated as less than or not really Japanese because they would be mixed. So as a new mom to a mixed child, how are you going to deal with that? Is it something you are worried about? Is it something he is worried about? I still plan on moving to Japan in the next 5-6 years with my family, but since they aren't ethnically Japanese at all (half Chinese) it won't be as big of a deal (I hope). But I am very curious about how you plan to deal with it.
