Absolutely amazing that you are able to go out and find these and that they are just laying on the surface waiting for you to find them. You have such a good eye. I love how you cleaned them up right away to show us your beauties. Are there any places like this in the U.S. where we can find opals?

It wasn't right away. Like most of our prospecting videos, we need to be away from home for long periods of time to get the video footage. This was taken months ago before the pandemic. Great video Liz! Have you tried going out at night with a black light? I've seen that it detects opals quite well. Opals have got to be my favorite gemstone. I'd like to be out there doing what you're doing.

Haven't used a black light but have found lots at night just using an ordinary torch/flash light.

Opal is weakly fluorescent, so you could go there in the dark with a black light to find opals!

No black opal with this lot. Most black opal comes from Lighting Ridge.
