The clouds target a specific pixel position **on the screen**, and move faster the further away they are from that position. If you are still, they can reach the position easily so they don't have to move as fast. If you scroll fast then they have to move faster to compensate and maintain the target position.

They target a pixel position in the level but their movement is relative to the screen width? Their speed is the "same" pace across the screen, yes? So their speed up and down appears faster from the frame of view of Mario and the scrolling but is the same relative to the screen's border. Is it that way on ALL variants? I feel like the 1-1 world seemed far more difficult with its podaboo's in clouds.

@@dressiknights AFAIK the position they target moves along with the scrolling.

It's more complicated than that, though. Sometimes they turn around before reaching the other side of the screen. See 27:24 for example. It seems to be related to movement, since they never do that when the screen is still (like during the boss fight).

Idk if he's done it before, but I hope PangeaPanga plays SMBX2. It's a fun fan-game that's based around this kinda thing but even more advanced, and I'd love to see people make him some levels that could feature things from tons of already known enemies that were never able to be put together in SMM2, to entirely new things.

Day 165 of posting a cool animal fact: Pigeons have been discovered to be capable of understanding math! Researchers perforned a study where they had pigeons peck at screens in order of highest to lowest, where they would then reward them. They found that pigeons could indeed recognize numbers, a feat which had only been achieved by primates before the study!

These setups usually work by having a red coin picked up, the animation of which being a new sprite for a few frames. Because you only spawn at the first checkpoint when you keydeath, and keydeath resets red coins, this can be abused in tandem with the 100 sprite limit to cause a single sprite to fail to spawn when keydeath. This can be used to give the player a key. Link pulling the bomb out fast enough upon loading the room has a similar effect, preventing a sprite from loading

"Im demotivated to make levels right now" try the 5 minute rule, its really helpful for me when i get demotivated. Just tell yourself your only gonna do something for 5 minutes, and give it a try. If you dont wanna continute after 5 minutes, just stop. Otherwise it will probably have taken your interest, and you keep going

I put hundreds of hours into grinding clearing it cuz I was happy with it and don't really play this game much at all even tho I watch it a lot.
