On my last hike I used the Zseat as a knee pillow. Sounds a little strange but as someone with back issues, sliding the Zseat between my knees while I sleep on my side helps me keep my back aligned. Opening the Zseat halfway gave me about the perfect width.

I use a piece of reflectix the exact same way. I place it under my sleep pad right at my core. I feel like it made a big difference in my warmth.

I also use it as extra padding for the back of my backpack. Not so much my big pack, but when I use my small day pack, I fold it in half and put it in first along the back of the pack. It's a great little item.

Use mine for lots of purposes. I trimmed off one section. My favorite use for it is stuffing it under the top of my sleeping pad to elevate the sleeping pad under my head (like a pillow). I started doing this to ditch my aeros pillow. Air pillows are not comfortable to me. Not only that...they lack insulation so in cold weather my head and neck get too cold.

Cool! I like the Zseat, but you could just as easily cut the z lite. I may get one of those as well for kicks. Great idea with the amazon store!!

+swatsullivan If you are looking for a pad and don't need a inflatable pad, then this is a great way to knock out 2 birds as long as you're not like 6'6 or something. Thanks Swat!

I enjoyed mine for the week I had it! I kept it on top of my pack. I had to go under a tree with lots of gnarled limbs. One of them snagged it, and I didn't even know it! One of. My buddies left the trail last week and left things he didn't want to carry back. One was his sleeping pad. I took my knife and made another. 😀

My last BWCA trip.....I realized as I age (now 43), my butt has gotten bonier than ever. Sitting on logs around the fire grate and in the canoe was kind of annoying by the end of the week because I was lacking some padding to sit on, haha.

I questioned which side to sit/sleep on and which side to place to the ground. In my research its recommended reflective side up. Do you all agree? How do you use yours? Nice review on a simple but extremely valuable piece of gear. It was gifted to me and I since have paid it forward to others. Second video of yours I'm watching. Great job. Thanks to ER for spreading the word.

But the coyote color in this video has no reflective side, correct? Like the yellow one at REI. Amazon: "Durable, lightweight closed-cell foam, with an aluminized coating, provides comfort and warmth Note: Coyote version has no aluminized coating"

You said that you found the Therm-a-Rest Z Lite Sol to be too long, was that the regular or the short? If you buy the regular Therm-a-Rest Z Lite Sol it is 72in and costs $45 on your link and the short is 51" and cost $35, meaning if you buy the regular, cut off 4 folds and you that as your pad, you have a 21" seat pad (rather then the 12" official seat) and a short Sol for $45. My only concern would be that cutting the pad would allow water to get into the pad. Do you know if anyone had that problem? Thanks for the review.
@FollowBigfoot
@FollowBigfoot 7 жыл бұрын
+Loathomar It was the regular pad. I am 5'8" and it was much longer than what I needed. No issues with water getting into the pad with the closed cell foam material they use to make it. Never heard of that problem. If i was going to use the Sol, I would buy the largest length and cut it and save some money by avoiding buying a butt pad

Whats an R value
@FollowBigfoot
@FollowBigfoot 7 жыл бұрын
It's a measure of resistance to heat flow through an insulating material. The higher the R-Value, the greater the insulating power. Most people don't realize that this is a CRITICAL piece when you are looking for a pad for use outside of Summer (60 Degree+ temps) use temperatures. In winter, early spring or Fall conditions I would recommend at least an R-value of 3+. I use the NeoAir which has a R-value of 3.2.

It is a little more flimsy and does not have as much cushion but it is lighter and it does the job well. www.aliexpress.com/item/Useful-Foldable-XPE-Outdoor-Seat-Cushion-Chair-Waterproof-Picnic-Camping-Pad/32608221479.html
