Just to add. The little valve/hole in the flat part of the thermostat must go to the top. It's an air bleed. If it's not at the top you will most likely get a nice air lock in your system that can't escape.

After replacing the thermostat, do you need to burp the cooling system of air? If so, what's the best procedure?

It is waaay easier if you loosen the belt to get that bottom bolt.

Did you drain some, or all, of the coolant prior?

@fixitsamo I appear to have a leak whenever I start the jeep back up. Is that from the hoses not being tight? It seems a little too much to be coming from thermostat area?
