And his experiences in those books are full of loss and suffering, like holy shit, his entire life after leaving the creche was one nightmare after another. Even in the clone wars plenty used them, we just don't have it on screen much. There is a deeper reason he hates blasters but I don't know what it is or where. But there *is* a reason. The most common EMO button you'll see outside of a factory environment is the 'Emergency Fuel Cutoff' button near the pumps at a gas station. That button closes the fuel valve from the underground tanks to ALL the pumps at once. Here in this clip, Satine just showed us EXACTLY why EMO buttons exist.
