Hey Mitch, Im a roof sales guy here in Austin Texas so not too far. You said your average commission is around 5k and upwards of 10/15k. I’m so curious as to how you are getting those big chunks on residential roofs. Are they all monster 50-70sq monsters? I make 12% of total sale so my average commission is 2-3k. Genuinely curious, wondering if I should be looking for a percentage raise since I have been in the top sales guy for the company for over a year straight. Great video 👌🏽

Love the boundaries set and the going all in. I was in debt 50k between a personal loan and credit cards. Had done roofing off and on for 2yrs prior and never had much success and during Covid was laid off in March and a storm hit in April and the owner of a company I met through dealing poker to him at a casino gave me a shot and has turned my entire life around. I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunities he’s given me and his belief in me but it definitely wasn’t until I went all in and was like I have no money no shot at climbing above my situation and knew it was this or I’d be working 2-3 jobs to make ends meet. Hearing your story makes me remember the hardships I’ve been through and how each day if you can leave it at the door and focus and work your butt off anyone can rise up and overcome their fears, personal/financial struggles and use roofing sales as a vehicle to create a life they’re proud of by helping people.

I’ve sold Kirby vacuums door to door for 9yrs over time I became TL then promoted to Distributor, I started selling furniture for 10months realized it wasn’t for me especially the margins, I’m so excited to start selling roofs this coming week I gotta kill it you guy motivating me even more thanks for this content

I spent 6 years selling furniture. 2 years now into roofing sales. I refuse to use marketing reps so I don't get fat and lazy. Wondering why I didn't do this forever ago lol. Margins are way better, and you don't have to wait for them to come to you just to waste an hour of your time.

Question to you Adam (and Mitch if he sees it.) Definitely love that he has the boundaries with his time. I 100% agree! Should I be going to adjuster meetings? New to industry but I get the feeling that I should spend all the time I possibly can knocking and inspecting roofs. Not so much at the adjuster meetings. Same question about being present at my projects?

GREAT questions! I would be at adjuster appointments. That's part of the value you provide. The ONLY exception is for "lay down" deals that are a no-brainer -- and ONLY if you are waaaaay to busy to get there or occupied with other income-producing activities. Also, being present on build day is the EASIEST way to sign up the neighbors :)

Adam great content! I’ve been using some of your strategies and they’ve been working their charm. My 1st month in roofing I got 15 contracts, now half way through my 2nd month and currently have 8. I’ve slowed down a little because I’m still very new and need to learn a lot more. My question to you is how do I get my roofs bought in 1st and 2nd inspections. I have 5 roofs that have gone to appraisal and I know they take a little while. What can I do to prevent roofs going to appraisal? Any feed back would be greatly appreciated! Keep up the good work.

Hey my dude. WOW - 15 deals in your first month? You're going to CRUSH IT! In an upcoming interview, you're going to hear Kalebs story (a 21 year old) who did 6 figures in his first year in roofing sales. He had a similar issue as you did - his first 10 deals signed got denied. So here's the takeaway -- you are doing something right by getting them signed :) Sounds like you're in a neighborhood with very, very marginal damage - unless the insurance company is simply not handling things right. If it is in fact marginal damage, my best advice is to switch into a new neighborhood with roofs that will get approved :) Going to appraisal shouldn't happen that frequently (in my opinion). @@YaboyRjj Oooooh! Here's how it went. I spent 7 days knocking doors at ground zero on a massive storm... 8 weeks late. Needless to say, I got my teeth kicked through the back of my throat over and over again. So I was at the gym over lunch, and as I'm leaving I noticed the gym room was an old 3tab that looked like crap. Clearly, they needed a new roof. Then I saw a "For Rent" sign for a vacant space in the same strip center. So I picked up the phone and called. Hey Jacob. Great question. Another interview coming soon is with Kaleb - a 21 year old sales rep who earned 6-figures in his first year. I asked him the same question. The owner of his company gave great advice that he shared in the interview - it only matters if it matters to YOU. So long as you have the knowledge and can speak clearly about your area of expertise, you WILL overcome it in time.
