My biggest problem with brands not giving a filter warning is people will buy the product, use it, and it not work like the video. Then instead of blaming the company for lying about the product, the user will blame themselves for not having good skin. I wonder how many people think they’re ugly, when it’s really brands that are lying 🤷‍♀️

There are “well known families” in the Sims that would’ve lent to an amazing amount of different products. The Goth family, the Pleasant family, the Landgraab family.... Each family has a different background and different traits. That would have been a great way to sell numerous products based upon the families “personalities”. How utterly lazy this company seems to be. Just taking a preexisting palette and slapping The Sims on the packaging is far more devious than the filter users are. A lazy and blatant money grab. And a money grab that was likely far less successful than it would’ve been had they actually created new products. They probably could’ve gotten away with not making anything new if they’d just added some of their preexisting colorful shades to what ended up being one of the most bland looking products I’ve seen.

It's so funny to me that you've mentioned MAC getting very slowly on trends and giving the liquid lipsticks as an example. I have said that to my colleagues for years, and as a result, now they're going down. They've lost their identity. It's not that every brand should jump on every single trend, but they became like that old grandpa who still thinks he's as strong and attractive as he was when in the army...

OMG THANK YOU! I loved the section about MAC and SIMS. As being a player of Sims, I was so excited for the collaboration. It was a disgrace, I was so disappointed that they just used a case and slapped Sims on it. All the points you made are so valid. I hate the makeup in the game, it's basically unusable and I just scroll past them. They had so much opportunity and just a HUGE FAIL. Also, side note, the blurring of the face in makeup product videos is one of the reasons women/men doubt themselves. All we see are fake photos, those photos make people feel like they are not good enough because they don't look like the person that they see on social media. That's due to blurred pores, a changed face shape, a changed body shape, etc. and now we have brands making videos that basically state that you can look as smooth as a porcelain doll? It's sad because the consumer is going to be disappointed every time. Thank you Robert for posting these videos because you speak the truth!

I work in cosmetic retail and while I personally do understand that 90% of advertising is really not accurate to the product, the average consumer in my experience does not. They expect that a (make up) product will erase all their texture, smooth wrinkles, be undetectable full coverage, etc and we are just like ... there is only so much a product can do but that doesn’t mean it’s bad!
