Bemusing Bill, you can actually find that live video of that EPIC bass/guitar duel in "Hate?", the official music video from their 10th Anniversary Tour finale at Yokohama Arena last November. Band-Maid has released the official live video on their KZfaq channel. THAT is the video you need to review. If you were looking at the Dice/Hate? video from the Lollapalooza music festival on Hulu, there is a problem. The cameramen did not know which bandmembers to focus on, so Misa's bass solo was missed. That was a damned shame. That's why the video I suggest is much better.

For Lollapalooza, from August to the end of the year, they linked "Dice" and "Hate?" in their servings. The drum continues after Dice and goes straight into Hate? It is epic. The Lollapalooza video is from a Hulu live stream and the director missed a lot of the action. The official "Hate?" from their channel is take from their 10th Anniversary Tour finale in Yokohama Arena last November, and it has excellent sound and camerawork.

You made the right choice to react to this music video. It is one of a few songs that are best served in that format. Others to keep in mind are “Blooming,” “Warning,” and “From Now On.” If you’re a TOOL fan, you’ll appreciate the composition and arrangement of “From Now On.” The Maids rely completely upon their musicianship as it’s a heavy metal instrumental PS Heck yeah “DICE” has a killer riff. I also was motivated to pick up my guitar and give it a shot. Hope you do. It’s a lot harder than it sounds!

Glad to see another "oldie" (like me) enjoying these new rock goddesses. They are that and so much more, they are bringing the joy back to music that has been missing for so long!

As others have mentioned, react to the official live for "Hate?", it was released a month or so ago. After that check out, on your own, the "Dice/Hate" from Lollapalooza, just to see Saiki standing back and basically laughing at Misa and Kanami going off.🤘🤘

The lollapalooza dice/hate? was my first introduction to Band-Maid and it hooked me right in BUT I agree that you should watch the official live version released a couple of weeks ago. The camera work is much better.

Their greatness is on stage and at festivals. Please be sure to access the recordings of each festival or the public videos on stage.

If you want to check out Dice/Hate? form Lollapalooza, go right ahead. It was posted by Doc Loco who is a big fan and supporter of Band Maid. The video is straight up fire! Their energy live here is off the charts and this did this gig only about 12 hours after playing a full set the night before at the Lolla after party. Yes, the camerawork is not great, but it's kinda funny in a way, because they obviously had no idea what was coming their way! LOL! Welcome to Band Maid baby!! These ladies always bring it! As others have mentioned, you can go to their channel and react to Hate? live from Yokohama and the battle there, too, it's a great video. But the Lolla video is definitely worth checking out even if you don't react to it.

Uber talented band. Agree that riff is awesome. The Japanese metal/rock scene is incredible. Musicianship is on an elite level from so many bands.

I love Miku's lyrics: they're very specific, all the while being quite general in nature. The "Dice" lyrics combine Band-Maid's maid café motif and use it to explain a dilemma they've often experienced: the risks and give and take of negotiations, whether in business or in love. With "Dice" the story is that each involved party has to assume some risk, that they can't expect it to be a one sided affair going to one side or the other. That's the symbolism of the 'little' blindfolded girl sitting in the chair: she's not a prisoner, she can get up and leave whenever she wants. But who gave her the blindfold and told her to sit down and wait? Don't call me, I'll call you. She could sit there and childishly expect everything to come to her, but then realizes that nothing will happen unless she takes off the blindfold, drops the dolly, and gets up to make it happen on her own. This parallels Band-Maid's story. Band-Maid almost failed before the band started making decisions for themselves. It's a song about taking risks and responsibilities, that both the customer and the server must agree as to what expectations they bring to the table. As usual, it's a very positive message that rings true.

I also recommend the live official video of HATE from their channel. It is epic.

Regarding the lyrics, just FYI, candy or the whip is like the Japanese version of carrot or the stick. That line gets people kind of excited, but it’s just about motivation.

DICE was the second song I heard from Band-Maid, "Thrill" was the first and that got me wondering what that was, then I found DICE and I was hooked. Since they are "Maids" and their concerts are called "servings at their place", it's only natural that they would welcome you back to their "house" and ask you what you wanted, lol.

Seize the moment! Fun reaction, as always. But Bill, as much as I love the Maid's up tempo, kick-ass songs, don't sleep on their (slightly) slower songs. "Daydreaming" MV is a thing of beauty, especially Kanami's guitar solo.

I always wondered if Saiki-san ever listened to the J-HipHop band m.o.v.e. Masuda Yuri-san and Saiki-san have similar sounds to me in my opinion.

The best version of "Hate" live ... is by far the Official live version at Yokohama Arena from their channel. The Lallapaloosa recording is such poor quality...

As already mentioned, the camera work at Lollopolooza is rubbish. Obviously the producer has no clue who they are and what they normally do on stage. BUT(!) if you want to watch the video anyway, you will see and hear what a monster Akane is. She is totally in the pocket, even more stable than a metronome... it is so impressive! That and an amazing solo between MISA and Kanami make it worth watching.

Love this song, even though that intro is kind of a rip-off of Black Veil Brides' "The Legacy". Fortunately MISA's bass tone is far superior :D

Hi Bill! Don't bother with the Lollopolooza "Dice/Hate?" - the camera work is amateur (totally awful) you won't see much. I recommend "Hate?" live from their official channel, it's 100% better. You won't be disappointed! And yeah I had got unsubscribed somehow. I'm noticing it a lot recently.
