The war in Ukraine takes a new turn - a darker turn - as Russian submarines have now gotten involved to disintegrate Ukraine with a barrage of missiles. This comes as a shock to many as Ukraine has no formidable submarine threats or defenses. This potential overkill could be what pushes NATO to join the conflict more directly. And should that happen, a number of highly lethal NATO submarines could possibly be called upon to deal unprecedented damage to Russia. These powerful NATO submarines are our focus in this video - but first, we must look at how and why, after four months into the conflict, submarines are now getting involved at all.

Russia has built quite a few new submarines and is continuing to build more. The US started late to replace their ageing though still good fleet. The Russian diesel electric subs have been nicknamed black holes because the US can’t track them. The new US subs cost 4 times what a Russian one does plus they had a problem with the acoustic tiles peeling off…..so don’t be so sure that US is best. The grift in the MIc is causing big problems.

NATO could destroy Russia, but then Russia has such a massive fleet of nuclear armed submarines that retaliation would cause mutually assured global destruction. That is why the argument that one side can wipe the other side out, is somewhat hypothetical and irrelevant.

There is no such thing as California class, and the LA class subs are the oldest subs still serving. The current production sub is the Virginia class, and perhaps the most powerful in terms of firepower would be the Seawolf class, if you don't include ICBMs

Using ocean water as a heat sink means when water temperature rises beyond normal means a submarine is near. I've read of sonars that use natural underwater sound, or more correctly the sudden silence, to indicate subs in the area.

@@MFcitrous Actually you leave a slight trail of warmer (like 1F) water. BUT... the sea water is not homogenous or transparent. There are layers, etc. Even if you know that there is a sub inside a small area, you can lose it quickly or never find it. 2018 or so there was an exercise with an aircraft carrier battle group vs subs. The subs "sank" the carrier several times. Idk if they were stopped even once, I cannot remember that happening at all. So liberal Rationalist is wrong: In reality you cannot find a modern sub.

Idk about the latest generation of US subs, maybe they got hydrophones and can playback whale sounds to pretend that they are something else besides a sub ;-)

Sweden has some bad ad subs. In the last set of war games, they were able to sneak up and tail several countries' ships and submarines, including American subs without being detected. A combination of electricity and newly designed propellers makes them silent killers f they need be. They loaned 2 of them and some crew members soo they could upgrade their own capabilities and tactics.

Sweden and Findland both trying to join NATO. I am half Fin. Even my mother from Tempere would agree that Findland should have worked into NATO decades ago. I do give Sweden credit. I had previously seen their sub's capabilities, which would be advantageous to us. Also, while a nuke on the nuke cruiser USS Texas (CGN-39) we stopped in Oslo, but would not go to "Communist--influenced" countries such as Finland...which borders Russia.

The "Switchblade" is a small electric airplane, that can be equipped with a small gernade, that will take out a few troops. I am sure there is a larger version, that can take out a tank, by first exploding next to the tank, then exploding again in the hole it just created! A easy way to defeat active armor.
