Chére Nelly, il me semble qu'il y existe pour un non français tout un tas d'autres difficultés dans la prononciation des voyelles en français comme par exemple la "e" á bien distinguer de la prononciation du "eu"; les difficultés aussi liées á la prononciation du son "et" souvent confondues avec le "ai" . Remarque importante pour la conjuguaison des verbes á l'imparfait ou au passé simple, au futur ou au conditionnel, et caetera...

I never had trouble with most of these problems, especially not, "croissant." But the hardest word I've had to pronounce that has taken some work is: "Une carte" as in a credit card. "Une carte bleu" Something about the r and the t together

i have found this channel by chance, and can't get enough of these videos. they are so awesome! everytime i watch them four times. 1. without subtitles, 2. with my mother language subtitles (portuguese), 3. with english subtitles (my second language) and then, 4. with the original french subtitles (my third language which i'm starting to learn since march) so i can follow up with every little tiny thing you say. your way of teaching the details and bits of the french language makes everything so fun and palpable that i actually enjoy not knowing lots of stuff today because i learn a buch of them with you. merci beaucoup nelly!!!!

Même en étant de langue maternelle française, cette chaine est très agréable à suivre : Nelly irradie l'écran par sa classe "so french", mais les conseils sont vraiment excellents pour aider mes collègues non francophones. Cela nous rappelle a quel point notre langue peut être difficile à apprendre parfois. Merci et bonne continuation !

Le son "u" est loin d'être une exclusivité du français. Sans chercher bien loin l'allemand possède ce son dénoté ü. Idem pour le turc. Quant au néerlandais le u se prononce comme en français.

Le "u" est peut etre pas commun, mais il existe en plusieurs langues quand meme: notamment le neerlandais, l'allemand, et le mandarin l'utilisent, ainsi que quasiment toutes les langues altaiques (le turque) et finno-ougriennes (le finnois). Il fut utilisé par les grecs anciens aussi, et ecrit avec la lettre "y" (de là la designation "y grecque" dans l'alphabet romain)

Je suis allemand et je trouve que bien que l'allemand wt le français ne sonnent pas pareil du tout, on a la plupart des sons français dans notre langue aussi. R, ü, c'est pas difficile. J'ai participé aux courses des français avec des gens des Etats Unis et de l'Espagne. La prononciation était beaucoup plus difficile pour eux.

C'est ce que je voudrais dire aussi. Le Néerlandais, ma langue maternelle, a aussi le 'u'. Et oui, ça marche bien de dire le 'i' en souriant et après aller vers le 'u'. C'est drôle à faire, mais bien efficace.

Quand Michel Polnareff chantait " Tous les bateaux " , la rime en "u" était assez risquée. Piaf et Gainsbourg ont aussi utilisé cette rime , en prononçant "ru-e ". Le U est un problème . Il est laid. Il est marron .

This is an excellent lesson! From my learner's experience I may say that hesitation about how to pronounce such words like "le vent" or "vingt" easily kills my fluent expression and/or confidence. I either slow down, or pronounce the word quietly in the hope that the listener will guess my intended meaning anyway

As a Canadian Anglophone, I had French teachers in school who were from le nord de l'Ontario ou le Quebec and who were supposedly teaching us "Parisian French". However, we were taught to pronounce our vowel sounds with a super-nasal accent without realizing it. Par example: le vin oh le pain sounds very sharp and nasal and it is really difficult for me to kick that habit.

I don't think that "nasal" or "super-nasal" describes the difference. It's more a matter of where they are in the mouth, e.g. what's are the closest non-nasal vowels. For Parisian "in", it's quite close to front "a", or between front "a" and "è", whereas most French regions have it like "è". In Canada, most regions have it like "è", but some have it like "é". Likewise, Parisian "an" is like a very open "o", while most French regions have it like "â", and Canada is split between having it like "â" and having it like "a". This also means that "vin" in Paris totally sounds like "vent" in some parts of Canada. But from listening at someone for a minute, you can figure out which system they use.

Avec le U c'était exactement ma technique, en tant que hispanophone c'est trrrrrrrrès dure ! Tu es la première enseignante qui l'a donnée, en mon experience, et je suis très content de l'apprendre ! Excellente vidéo que j'ai trouvée par hasard. Elle résume très bien les différentes difficultés de pronciation. Ce qui me fait malheureusement complètement décrocher est la longue pub en milieu de la vidéo pour Lingoda.
