Those things have changed. When I was a kid, they were a lot longer and made noise a lot longer and they moved slower. A lot more annoying to adults apparently lol You can get a similar sound with a straw in a plastic lid from a fast food place in the USA by moving it up and down. Annoys the hell out of people, love it.

That reminds me of this book my family has called "Steve Allen's Private Joke File." One of the jokes in it goes like this, and I quote: WEN: You? Working at the telephone company? What do you do? The problem with these things is that they make a different sound every time. Sometimes it’s like a wwweeeooowwwh and sometimes it’s just like a eeeaawww with no “w” sound at the start. It all depends on how fast and at what angle you turn them.
