Update, after being thrown around by various parts stores and finally finding a transmission specialist, I’ve come to realize that I have a 6l80 and it’s a complete part that’s a tad more expensive than just the solenoids. On top of that once it gets fixed it has to be programmed by a g.m.c dealer. So I just said screw it and sent it away to be fixed by someone else.

The shifter linkage bracket on my 03 Yukon XL (2wd, 1/2 ton) was actually pretty easy to move. There is 1 Torx T-30 directly over the rear driver side pan bolt on top of the transmission flange. The other is two bolts forward (one bolt on the pan between them) both can be hit pretty easily from the tail end of the transmission. Remove the one on the corner, and loosen the one forward of it, and the bracket swings completely out of the way. Don’t even have to touch the exhaust flanges, and no wrestling to bend the bracket back into position when your done. Much easier, imho. Great video, guys. And best of luck to all y’all digging in and fixing this yourselves.

I think I'm gonna drop my pan again and get them 2 in and at least take a swing at it before I replace the Tranny. Mine gets to almost 40mph and it starts to Rev high like it's getting nowhere, or like it not going into the next gear. Like if I get it high Rev and release off the gas, it seams to go down, then kick in. But it revs high still after the kick in Idk? I thought the A&B, but I didn't get the 3-2 down shift and the other here. So maybe I'll swing at that and see If I have your outcome. Wish me luck.

Pro tip. Use a fluid evacuator through the dipstick and suck out the fluid before removing the pan. There are replacement pans, available with drain plug. Also, you can find a aluminum transmission pan that is deeper and has fins to help cool the transmission fluid. A nice upgrade. Any truck with a automatic transmission is a larger transmission cooler especially if you tow trailers.

Still, the vacuum extractor is nice since simple oil changes and such can be done without jacking up the vehicle... I think there is something to be mentioned here in labeling what is what. The first solenoid you took out appears to be the TCC/PWM solenoid; which you did identify. Directly over the connector for that, is the torque converter clutch solenoid valve which is being held on by those two black bolts and bracket that comes attached to that solenoid. If you come up with a code for the TCC solenoid; you might want to replace the TCC solenoid valve as well

Did this job, it really is way more work than these guys let you believe. The exhaust is right in the way of the pan. And if you're from New England no you can not remove exhaust bolts you must use ratchet straps and a block of wood to move the exhaust outta the way while bending the heat shield. Just throw the truck away GM/chevy are the worst vehicles ever made. I fixed my problem by buying a toyota if you're messing with the transmission of a gm just sell it.

@WSmith-ne5ks
@WSmith-ne5ks 3 жыл бұрын
Which way were you trying to change gears, downshifting or upshifting? the car may not let you downshift depending on the speed and the RPM. The computer doesn't want the engine to over-rev so it will prevent shifting to too low of a gear. if you were already in the top gear and couldn't shift up then there is no where else to go, otherwise it depends on how the manufacturer set the gearbox up and how they allow you to upshift.

So the A & B solenoids are shift solenoids. Good to know. I watched another video where this wasn't mentioned so I'm glad I watched this one. Edit: filling through the fill tube sucks. One thing that works sometimes is drying the dipstick with brake cleaner. The surface tension of the oil can (hopefully) keep the oil from covering the dipstick. Of course patience helps too. Go put your tools away, clean up the spilled oil, etc. while waiting for the oil to drain down. Maybe they need to coat the inside of the dipstick with something that lets the oil drain off faster.

It's when I'm on the highway and I ease up on the accelerator, the TCC will unlock and the RPM jump as I accelerate back to TCC lock. Everything else about the transmission is fine. HP Tuners scanner shows that the TCC lock is commanded on during those times that it unlocks.
