Sometimes the gross and disturbing things we see actors do on screen aren’t faked - you won’t believe what some of these actors did to get a shot or bring a character to life as realistically as they could!
Some of these actors had to endure eating some pretty gross things - like Jennifer Lawrence who chomped right into a raw pink fish in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Let’s just say, it was nothing like sushi! Leonardo DiCaprio took his turn in consuming gross things when he ate a raw bison liver for his role in The Revenant. Emilia Clarke may not have eaten a real horse heart but the prop she did end up having to eat wasn’t so great either. She chomped into it thinking it was going to taste like gummy bears but that definitely was not the case. Speaking of gummy bears - all those nauseating sweets that Will Ferrell ate in Elf? Yeah, that was real - and so intense that he wound up suffering migraines because of the insane amount of sugar she consumed!
While not everyone had to eat something gross, a lot of the actors carried out not-so-great hygiene for the sake of a role. Sophie Turner didn’t wash her hair for a full two years! Halle Berry didn’t shower for two months and Robert Pattison lived in a dirty basement apartment for two months and didn’t change his clothes or sheets frequently.
Whether it was eating gross foods, living in unsanitary conditions or performing surrounded by rotting smells - these actors have endured it all for the sake of the art!

Acting is a demanding profession. While it might look like it's all fun and games to pretend to be someone else on screen, many actors go to extremes for roles, doing disgusting things most of us wouldn't even consider. This isn't always the actor's idea. In order to get the perfect shot, filmmakers may coerce their performers into doing things they'd rather not do. Sometimes, however, the actors are the ones pushing for authenticity in the movie. From eating live bugs to letting critters crawl on their face, to wading through garbage and worse.

Yep! Unfortunately I can attest to that! 😅 (Just my own on a part of my leg, but still) Wouldn't say it made it worse, but it sure as hell didn't work! What DID work a bit was scraping the sting with a credit card to get the little barbs off, and then rinse in cold water for a while before applying aloe vera 👍

@@Melanie4 Sushi with raw fish does actually contain bacteria and parasites. I know many people who have gotten sick from eating sushi. That's why I always drink hot saki before and after consuming it.. which works for me. Also because my blood type is o-negative, the most acidic of them all. So that alone destroys some of the bacteria.

I thought eating raw fish was not cool, until I started scuba diving on San Juan Islands Washington st.. Then I found wonderful tasting delicacies, I even gave John Wayne an goodie bag full of treats to feed his friends including Ben Johnson! They even toasted my dad!

In Season 4 Episode 16 of The Walking Dead, Rick Grimes bites this guy’s neck and removes a huge chunk of flesh. Andrew Lincoln chose to have the ‘flesh’ be raw chicken, so it would look more realistic. 😳 No. Thank. You. 🤢

I do (or did, thanks Covid) Community theatre. For a couple shows I had to smoke e-cigs (as a non-smoker that was rough) another had me eating ding-dongs nightly. And as some who was on a strict diet, those months were rough. And I didn't get paid a dime for it.

Yeah, but you really have to be careful where you get it from, because you can get a parasite from that. Especially from lake water fish, if it’s salt water, it’s a lot more safe. But even then, it can be risky. Point is, don’t eat anything raw unless you’re sure it’s clean, and you have no choice to. Because as long as you have an oven, or a stove you can cook it.
