I think one of the reason why people think 4-6 is the prime of the show, it's the fact that it had the strongest cast, we had so many A lister characters in the main group that the show could never replace later on.

Your point about AMC not caring about their female characters is incredibly valid. They fired Kim Dickens (Madison) from FEAR, even though it was her show, and replaced her with another dude...Morgan. It took fans raging at them for 4 years for them to retcon that mistake. I still don't understand how they've gotten away with that for so long without being called out.

@mattnar3865 I harbor just as much blame for Gimple, yeah lol I'll never understand how he's remained in charge after stumbling so many times. Every show ends up ruined to some extent via his meddling. FEAR had become the better show by the end of season 3. Consequently, TWD was at its then-lowest point (season 8) and didn't show any signs of improving. Part of me truly believes he intentionally sabotaged the series as to not be outshined. How else does a show like this go from the incredibly realistic dialog and interactions of the first 3 seasons to whatever the hell the 'Momo & Friends' show was by the end? It's insane when you think about for more than 5 minutes. None of it makes any sense.

@@TheNickSweat Yeah I stopped watching Fear around the time they found that group of kids, it just wasn't a good show anymore. It's amazing he hasn't been held accountable by AMC for driving two good shows into the dirt.

Season 2 was a masterpiece in my opinion, Norman was right, what Frank Darabont did in the beginning along with Jon Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies, Andrew Lincoln, plus the development of the other characters made the show so realistic and raw until season 6... (Ps: Yes i know he wasn't in seasons 2/3. You people need to go back to school and learn some basic interpretation, also, yes it's a masterpiece, it's called "opinion").

Absolutely cooking with the title, outside of maybe episodes 5&6, this season has no bad or mid episodes imo (though the dumpster scene in 6x03 is a bit questionable, and obviously the 6x16 cliffhanger was not well received though I’d argue that nowadays rewatching the show it doesnt matter as much 😅). I love both main story arcs in this season with the quarry herd leading into No Way Out and the introduction to the Saviors (lowkey feel like the Saviors were their most intimidating in this season). This is also the last season where the group really feels like a “family” to me (sidenote: outside of missing some of the season 5 peeps, this season’s cast is very strong too). With the introductions to a ridiculous number of new groups in season 7, everybody started splitting up more and more and interacted less which just fueled the boomerang storytelling that s7 is chock full of 💔

Are you kidding? This season was a very mixed bag, and episodes like 5, 6, 7, 14 and 15 are very dull even bad at times because of the cringe writing and acting, episode 4 is a masterpiece to some and a slog to others, episode 8 and 16 end on really unsatisfying blue ball cliffhangers, Glenn's fake death... season 6 had a lot of issues, people only like it because of the action and the few peak moments

@jjkilhij9531 when I compare them to the same in other seasons they're worse to me, tbh. Like 6x2 6x9 6x11 6x12 6x16 they're great episodes, but I never put them in my top 10, or even 20 or 30, I prefer most episodes in the early seasons. I think also because episodes focus on side characters and less important characters that I don't care about much, and I prefer the story with the farm, the Prison, the Governor, on the road and Terminus

Their style wouldn't really allow for that though, by that I mean how they have entire episodes focused on only a few characters rather than having many storyines spread out in an episode, like in Game of Thrones. It lead to some really disappointing episodes like Beth in the hospital and Tara at Oceanside and frankly wasted space in the season.

Your rant about how TWD treats most of their female characters is pretty valid. For me, this season's biggest strength is, that it not only managed to portray the walkers as a threat again, but actually raised the stakes and spectacle - big horde vs. big group. Apart from the final episode and the satellite station, I did not like the teasing period after that a lot, but JDM's performance and 7x1 as a whole made up for that. Season 2 remains my favourite though. Regarding the cliffhanger and the boomerang story telling: very bad idea for the weekly release model, but for me as someone who binge-watched, it worked a lot better. S7 + 8 were not nearly as much of a drag when watched as a whole as other people felt, who watched weekly, and Glenn's death in the beginning elevated Negan as a villain for me. It did not hurt the show, because I did not have to wait for a reveal for months just to be cheated by a second death.

This was the greatest walking dead experience for me in this season, love season 6, it felt super long in a good way by the finally. So much has happened in this season, and it was the greatest walking dead experiences of my life, especially Negan, I never read the comics at the time so when I first heard of fans talking about negan and being told who Negan is, I felt like Rick and the gang first hearing about Negan at the hilltop, it was terrifying, Negans build up was more terrifying than the Negan we got for me personally. I loved Jeffrey dean Morgans performance but I think comic negan is far scarier due to just his giant presence. But the build up to Negan and who this guy is, I knew Rick was about to meet a big tyrant.

The thing I love about the 5th episode is Spencer. His whole speech to the people taking all the food from the storage makes Deanna proud, only for her to learn he took all the supplies the others were going to take for himself is enough for her to realize the role she has played in causing the destruction of Alexandria and the role she would need to play in ensuring its survival (before her death)

There was no beating Seasons 5 and 6 purely because they had the BEST cast ever in a piece of zombie media. Rick and Daryl at their best, Abraham, Tyrese, Morgan, Carol also in her prime, Carl stopped being so insufferable.. and obviously the GOAT, Glenn. And even the supporting cast all had interesting stories of their own, supported by the main cast that boosted their stories. Soon after this, TWD could only rely on its supporting characters and a few mains whose dynamics were ruined following exists like Rick, Maggie, Glenn, Carl and more. Definitely the peak of the show. If anyone says S5 or 6 is their favourite, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised at all.

Despite what he does, killing off 2 of the fan favourite characters immediately, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is one of the greatest actors to grace the television screen. He was truly born to play Negan, and if he was played by any other actor I don't think I'd like the later seasons at all.

Loved the journey from the prison to Alexandria, the horror of Terminus and the group eventually meeting people who stayed safe behind walls and still held onto the old world while our survivors were living in the wild just keeping it together. What came after in the following seasons I felt were shallow compared to these seasons.

When people say the walkers aren't a threat in the later seasons, it always leaves me scratching my head. The show literally shows us the group getting stronger and adapting more and more to the new world, learning new tactics etc. So when it's one or two walkers or a small group, yeah, they should be able to handle them (yet characters still do get bitten in these situations *cough*Carl*cough* ) but when there's a horde the stakes are always immediately raised. Then we get the Whisperers who literally weaponise massive amounts of Walkers and destroy two communities in the proccess, Hilltop and Alexandria. They were undoubtedly still a threat later on.

Back when this season was on TV, the hype was unreal but it did seem like a cop-out to have Glenn die right after dangling it so dramatically with the dumpster scene. It's really compelling to think about what could've conspired if Glenn and Abe weren't chosen. (Perhaps Rick and Eugene, 2 incredibly relevant characters and given a chance for Carl to live like the comics? Idk spitballing but truely the hype was real.)

Cliffhangers are meant to keep people on the edge of their seat, wanting to see more, to see what happened next, to make people theorise what's coming up. This season 6 cliffhanger did exactly that so yes it was a good cliffhanger, people are just salty cause waiting is too hard. I won't reply to any comments arguing this.
@Sir_Slimbread
@Sir_Slimbread Ай бұрын
I think the Death of an unknown cast member is a good cliffhanger. It might not be a good Season Finale Cliffhanger(I disagree with that as long as it's handled well, but I haven't started my Season 7 Rewatch yet, so I don't 100% remember exactly how it goes down, so I can't say if it's done well yet)), but as an Episode Cliffhanger, or a Series Finale it's great. If it was the first episode of next Season, or if the first Episode of next Season was the Season Finale of this Season, it'd work better for more people(in order to get that they'd have to cut, or move Morgans Episode, which I think would be fine). It'd also work as the ending of the Series, because The Walking Dead could genuinely end here, and it'd work. We'd have confirmation that everyone else besides one Cast Member Survived, but just now work under Negan. Who died would be the perfect thing for people to theorize about as well, and it'd allow them to come up with their own ideas as to how it'd effect the group. If Rick died, Carl would probably turn into a Revenge Machine instead of how he actually turns out(not wanting Rick to kill Negan, and getting bit), which could lead him to getting himself killed by attacking Negan himself, or inciting a Rebellion. If Maggie died, the group would be broken, and probably just give in(they not only lost Maggie, but the baby, and it'd lead to Glenn getting himself killed or ending his own life, which means they are down 3 people instead). If Carl died, Rick would probably get himself killed right on the spot by trying to take out Negan. Anyone else dying could realistically lead us down the same path as the official death of Glenn and Abraham.

I also skip Here's Not Here because it makes me too sad. like it HURTS me to watch it. i've said it before on your videos i think, but the episode where all the alexandrians are fighting together is SO GOOD. that scene where they each get a second is SOOOO COOL. I think the last episode, (after some re-watches lol) is really good. I felt myself panicking along with Rick, and my fears were so intensified by everything. I was one of the fans who stopped watching after 7:1, but when i do my re-watches I usually stop after the saviors arc because i hate all the other villains so much lol. Great video as always!

Funny that you mentioned at the end that you started viewing parties with your friends because I did too but back with Season 4. I got most of my friends from high school into the show between S2 and S3 when we graduated high school and it was Season 4 when we decided to go to our one friend’s house to watch together. Unfortunately season 6 was the last time we would have the viewing parties mainly because we got busier but partially because after the start of season 7 some of them lost interest but it was an enjoyable time

The bikers who attacked Daryl, et al, were Saviors. The Saviors were an oppressive group of murdering despots, lead by a self-righteous dictator. Saying that the group became the bad guys when they attacked that outpost is like saying the US were the bad guys for joining WWII against Nazi Germany.

Awesome coverage of this season. When it comes to the finale, I think instead waiting to reveal who died, they should have just showed the people who died dying.

You're 100 percent correct in giving it a 10/10, in my opinion seasons 4, 5, and six were the best of the show, it's in 7 that the show started dying

Best season of the show, the quarry plot of 6A and the terrifying suspense of 6B are 2 of the best plotlines of the show, strong cast, even if not always utilized this season like Rosita, Gabriel or Glenn who doesn't do much this season. Some boring episodes and badly placed episodes like 4-7 but it's still overall a great season. Also, with the cliffhanger, watching this years after it aired and being able to watch 7x1 immediately as soon as I finished 6x16, the cliffhanger didn't bother me and 6x16 is my 2nd favourite season finale of TWD behind 2x13. 8.5/10 for me, one of my favourite seasons in TV

Thing is, that cliffhanger would’ve been great a few years beforehand, but since social media people got short attention spans and sensitive.

With Glenn’s fake out death, in my head I always thought it was a way to prepare fans for his death in s7, and see how the fan reaction would be. Like, if it was terrible they wouldn’t have gone through with it - etc. but I think they underestimated people guessing he survived the dumpster. If that makes sense

I also think season 6 was the best season, I do hate the boomerang style of telling stories but this season had so many excellent episodes that I was able to get passed some of the very few episodes that were just ok or Meh.

Hot take but I actually like when, in a zombie show/movie, they live in a base/village and things actually go well and the apocalypse takes a more human side.

I think the issue with TWD doing it is they got to that and just stuck to it for too long? We had the Governor after what 3 seasons of the walkers being the number 1 threat, he was dealt with and the walkers were back to being the main threat for a while and then we had that short stint with Terminus, then walkers again and then we got Negan...then it seemed like from then onwards it was literally just humans against humans, every now and then they were like oh yeah still walkers outside but other than that didn't focus on them? Thats how it felt to alot of people anyway, it was as if the writers didn't know what to do with the walkers until The Whisperers in season 10

The horde dilemma in this season made it the best to me. Highlights of this show were, in no order; - S1 learning about and fighting in the new world - S3 taking over the prison and fighting through it - S6 the horde The governor felt like a pretty boring, drawn out storyline by comparison, and the Termites were ultimately more of a short-lived build-up to Alexandria. Unfortunately after the Saviours were introduced it just became a bit too cartoony. Zombies were never really a threat again except once, it was just the endless hordes of Saviours in what felt like a constant, largely forgettable back-and-forth. I think the only time it got back to the levels of enjoyment I previously had was the season 8/9 (?) storyline with the bridge and Rick's disappearance after he defeats the horde. From there on it just felt like I watching it because I wanted to see it end vs for actual enjoyment.

In my opinion it is Season 3 and Season 5. Both show the definition of survival in a zombie apocalypse, and are overall fun. Season 6 on the other hand, I found it boring. Only the last episode was the somewhat fun one in my opinion. I even think Season 7 beats it, I considered Season 6 a bit "slow". But I understand why people might like it.
