I think you re going too hard on Jon. The guy is a legend, has beaten 3 generation of fighters. He has nothing to prove to anyone, and can do what he wants. As for vacating the title, really the onus is on UFC to strip him and not on Jon. What I think is that you and I should be hard on UFC, rather than Jon. The guy is doing his thing, and he need not vacate a title he legitimately won by beating a top contender, rather making easy work of him.

@@Chadius_Thundercock Why not? Blaydes has been a consistent top contender for a while now. He's just had extremely stiff competition, so he's had constant setbacks. But he proved against Almeida that he's still top tier, and he's actually still very young. He can improve. Tom is the best at 265 right now, no competition, so if Blaydes beats him fairly, then he's the champ. Simple.

With hindsight Jones was basically Gifted the HW belt. We didn't see what Jon's skills are at HW at all. No striking, no movement, no adversity. Just falling into a quick choke hold. Tom fought Pavlovich. One if the scariest HW's we've ever seen. All of Tom's fights have been super impressive. Tom should be able to be a active HW champ. It's messed up Jon Jones is Ruining that for Tom. While Jon is inactive & pick & choosing his legacy fights? Refusing to fight the interim belt. If this was anyone ekse the UFC would have stripped the belt.

In hindsight? I said this before that fight even took place. Gane loses the title shot he barely deserved to Francis without knees in the most embarrassing, amateurish fashion, gets a close win over Tai Tuivasa who literally flash KO'd the guy, which is a very bad look, then gets another shot??? He was fast tracked to the title and kept away from grapplers. The UFC 100% set him up to lose to Jon, because they knew he couldn't grapple. That's why they kept him away from Blaydes. They didn't want that massive gap exposed yet, because if it was, they couldn't do what every fanboy is now doing; which is prop up Jon's win over ''title contender and former champ'' Ciryl Gane. They want the name/fame, not to look at the actual fight and what goes into it. Because anyone with actual eye on the game knows Gane would NEVER beat someone like Jon, Tom or Blaydes. He might legit lose to melting ice Tybura if Tybura shows up in shape and just jumps for the legs the whole fight.

Jones has made sure to push the Stipe fight out as far as possible and had every chance to move up and fight either Ngannou or Stipe since he started running his mouth about moving up in 2018. He wanted no part of Francis and no part of Stipe back when he was still active and in his 30s. Jones had no problem jumping in the the EXTREMELY favorable matchup in Gane. Jones is one of the fakest people in the world and you can learn that form the DC feud.

Jones was my top fighter for so long, but I can't stand the guy as a person. He is such a bad human being in almost every way except fighting, and he thinks he has everyone fooled. You can see the guy is absolute trash, the stuff that comes out his mouth and the actions he performs outside of the cage. That 0 has to go, and Aspinall is the guy for the job

I definitely believe he will win the belt at some point. As for historical run, I don't know. He's 29 right now, and they're not booking him enough. A lot of those records were set in an era where PED testing wasn't a thing and fighters had more career longevity.

There's no point in him taking these hard fights right now anyway when getting a TS isn't even guaranteed anymore as long as Jon has the belt. Tom should have never fought for that interim belt. 1.) Stipe had the shot first and lost it through no fault of his own, so screwing him over now isn't fair; 2.) Calling Stipe "The Grand Daddy" is extremely disrespectful to the greatest heavyweight the promotion has ever known; 3.) I agree that Tom/Curtis should be the top headliner and not Leon/Belal; and 4.) Interim titles have been defended before even in the heavyweight division-- Arlovski defended his interim strap against Justin Eilers all the way back in 2005 and Barao defended his interim strap TWICE against Michael McDonald and Eddie Wineland. This is because interim titles are administratively equal to the original belt in every way-- they carry the exact same privileges and benefits and aren't just simply glorified #1 contender symbols. It's why guys like Dustin Poirier, Tony Ferguson, and Colby Covington all looked so stoked to win one. It's why Frank Mir considers himself a "two-time UFC champion". Interim titles are legit and saying that defending one is a travesty is actually kind of insulting to the guy holding one.

The entire reason interim belts work in the first place is because they're considered equal to the original belt-- because we have two men that now have legitimate claims to being the division's best, the only way to resolve it is to make them fight each other. This wouldn't be necessary if the belt were a "lower ranking"

Interim comes into play, both champs actively defend the belt, within 3 fights, there should be a unification, this means we get to keep the good fights we want to see without injury ruining it, but the division stays active.

Legacy is decided by the fans. If he would have fought Stipe 4 years ago this would be a great fight. If he cared about Legacy he would fight Tom.
