In over 2300 published pages he’s not mentioned the cerebellum - where 80% of your neurons are found. He only covers the cerebrum - where each inflated fluffy grey mass is home to only 10% of your neurons. The cerebellum is directly linked to autism, depression, Parkinson’s, and addiction - and just about everything else.

He is blaming it on the brain and that is incorrect. The reality is that what we are dealing with is cyclical although we perceive life as linear: past, present, and future it is cyclical. The Precession of the Equinoxes explained in the film ‘The Great Year’. describes the precession from a high age to a dark and up to a high age again. Where we are now in the cycle is on the rise from the last dark materialistic age to an age where inner forces; electricities will be fully understood and put to use. What we are going through is a transition. Dark age energy and mores are still with us and we are feeling their effects but things will get better and have already got better in many areas. If we see consciousness as fundamental and mind as elemental; emerging with quantum events with intelligence increasing as we advance in the cycle we can be optimistic rather than pessimistic. Steven Piinker posits progress based on evolution, not realizing that evolution responds to what is fundamental consciousness and intelligence, not the physical brain which is just a conduit for consciousness, intelligence and mind as a lamp is for light. Reducing life; consciousness and mind to biology leads to misinformation and makes no sense. The hard problem of consciousness for philosophy is clear proof that biological reductionism is wrong and ultimately does not add up.

Mr. McGilchrist may not be blaming the brain (which is blameless). At least he perceives the Sacred which few see today, or acknowledge.

Dr. McGilchrist, thank you for confirming what I have always suspected all my life. I am the child of immigrants who came to Australia as an infant, and I've always believed that the Anglo culture as the first industrialized peoples lost a chunk of their Humanity a bit earlier than other cultures. The loss of faith in all, except what can be seen by the naked eye. The loss of family values and connection, which provide meaning, purpose and a sense of belonging. This obsession with "Individualism". As if it is weak to need others. The disrespect for a woman's traditional role, as if it was something to despise. The complete obsession with materialism and economics, as if it is the only thing that has importance. The near total disregard for the natural world. These characteristics describe very well the left brain thinking that pervades our culture and perspective of life, and its single-minded obsession with getting and acquiring, at all cost. As a child who loved nature in all its forms, it was an excruciating and painful experience to grow up immersed in this culture. Although, I am aware that to differing degrees this is present in other European cultures. I can't speak to what extent other cultures are affected by this phenomenon. But it is apparent that the world is in the grip of this distorted and unbalanced view of what life is about and how to live a life worth living. That is why there is this exponential growth in mental health issues and all the other signs of a decaying society. Who can change this trajectory if not us? I can tell you it's not easy thinking for yourself and it's mostly not valued or appreciated. However, something in me refuses to yield to this diseased mentality. Thank you again for the work that you are doing! They can't see the forest for the tree's. I am also hopeful because as much as we are a force for destruction. We have just have lost our way. Know thy self! We are nature. We must come back to ourselves.

LindaRodriguez Thank you for posting your thoughts, which I wholeheartedly agree with. It is encouraging to know there are some people out there who feel the same way! I think this is why some of us feel we don’t belong in this world - because we don’t think the same way as the selfish greed-obsessed corporate entities that currently run everything. There is a need to reconfigure the way we live.

The reason this truth is not gaining more traction by scholars as of yet is that the asymmetry is of psychology not of biology. Even though psychology has less impact on biology than vice versa, shouldn't such a fundamental principle of psychology be more widely accepted and referred to by experts in every field of human excellence where psychology matters? This is baffling and can only be understood to be the result of shock and denial by virtually all scholarship that they are victims of this syndrome and still require treatment and recovery. I wonder if there exists any analog in recent history to such a paradigm shift. There have been early adopters who have helped in the identification of every social construction followed by the piecemeal recovery process by the rest of the population. But this isn't being touched by anyone, and it's possible that the reason is that while identity is being addressed in the political sphere, psychology is not, yet.

Why suggest that religion is helpful? Clearly, from what it's being said, it's not the religion that helps, but the sense of connection. Religion has created at least as much division as it has unity. To each their own, but we will be in trouble until we can distinguish between indoctrination and genuine compassion.
@grantfrith9589

Maybe you're looking at it wrong. Religion passes down through the generations knowledge and wisdom through a narrative we can comprehend. That rationalisation described by Iain might be the problem and not Religion at all. I mean we fill that narrative void with something and we're seeing as a consequence of the "Death of God" from a Nietzschien perspective many other deranged narratives creeping into the culture as a consequence. Maybe this is what is meant by Nietzsche when he said that there won't be enough water to wash away the blood. It looks to me as if the "Tower of Babel" story is exactly right when we try to write our own values in the absence of God. I'm not sure but maybe we won't even have a useful language in the wake of the absence of God in the culture. The "What is a woman" documentary is an obvious example of our inability in modern times to discuss the simplest of concepts. Obviously this is not universal because not everyone is engaging with the "woke" culture for want of a better description. Whatever is driving that looks to me to be the same thing that manifests in corruption in the religions. What Iain brings to the table is extremely profound in understanding our nature. As the right hemisphere is filtering information and seeing a bigger picture it's tragedy is that it needs to use the left hemisphere to communicate using the language so maybe all of us are much smarter than we appear to be when we open our mouths. If we are to escape the problem of finding universal values that we can all agree on I strongly suspect we need to be able to recognise the differences between the hemispheres we're using because it's very likely most of the misery inflicted on us through the narratives we follow is precisely the consequence of the Emissary running out of control to use Iains terminology. The most rational of us are probably only worshipping half of our intellect, and not the "right" half. If Iains correct this is true "technically".

MATTER BECOMES SACRED And let me make it quite clear that when Christians say the Christ-life is in them, they do not mean simply something mental or moral. When they speak of being “in Christ” or of Christ being “in them,” this is not simply a way of saying that they are thinking about Christ or copying Him. They mean that Christ is actually operating through them; that the whole mass of Christians are the physical organism through which Christ acts-that we are His fingers and muscles, the cells of His body. And perhaps that explains one or two things. It explains why this new life is spread not only by purely mental acts like belief, but by bodily acts like baptism and Holy Communion. It is not merely the spreading of an idea; it is more like evolution-a biological or superbiological fact. There is no good trying to be more spiritual than God. God never meant man to be a purely spiritual creature. That is why He uses material things like bread and wine to put the new life into us. We may think this rather crude and unspiritual. God does not: He invented eating. He likes matter. He invented it. -from Mere Christianity For reflection 1 Corinthians 10:23-31

Many thanks! Extremely important thoughts and conclusions from Dr. Iain McGilchrist! Mathematician Vladimir Arnold: “In the middle of the 20th century, the highly influential mafia of “left-hemisphere mathematicians” managed to exclude geometry from mathematical education (first in France, and then in other countries), replacing the entire content side of this discipline with training in the formal manipulation of abstract concepts. All geometry and, consequently, the entire connection of mathematics with the real world and with other sciences was excluded from mathematical education."... "Despite this, the “left-hemisphere patients” managed to raise entire generations of mathematicians who do not understand any other approach to mathematics, and are only able to teach the following generations in the same way. The disgust for mathematics on the part of ministers who were subjected to the humiliating experience of such teaching in school is a healthy and legitimate reaction. Unfortunately, this disgust of theirs extends to all mathematics, without exception, and can kill it entirely." (V. Arnold "Anti-scientific revolution and mathematics", 1999) Mathematician, philosopher, theologian Pavel Florensky: “The problem of space lies at the core of the worldview in all emerging systems of thought and predetermines the composition of the entire system.” With certain limitations and clarifications, one could even recognize space as the proper and primary subject of philosophy, in relation to which all other philosophical topics must be assessed as derivative. And the more closely this or that system of thought is worked out, the more definite a unique interpretation of space becomes as its core. *We repeat: worldunderstanding is spaceunderstanding."* Fields Prize winner mathematician Vladimir Voevodsky (1966-2017): "What we now call the crisis of Russian science is not only a crisis of Russian science. There is a crisis of world science. Real progress will consist in a very serious fight between science and religion, which will end with their association." I think that the "very serious fight" will be here: *_MetaAxiom "In the Beginning was the Logos.../ Ἐν ἀρχῇ ἦν ὁ λόγος..." VS. Hypothesis "In the Beginning was the Big Bang...",_* where "LOGos" - "MetaLAW/Absolute LAW" that governs the Universe (in the spirit of Heraclitus) - for the "sciences of nature" and "The God's Law of Justice" - for the "sciences of the spirit" and religion.. Cognition of the FirstLaw of the Universe (Logos= MetaLaw/Absolute Law) provides a single basis for science and religion. Religion, Science and Society are based on LAW. Fundamental science requires a Big Ontological revolution in the metaphysical / ontological basis of knowledge. Physics must move from the stage "Phenomenological physics" to the stage "Ontological physics". The paradigm of the Universe as a WHOLE must come to the aid of the “part paradigm” that dominates science. The New Information Revolution is also pushing for this. Today, the "problem No. 1 of the millennium" is the ONTOLOGICAL JUSTIFICATION of mathematics (ONTOLOGICAL BASIFICATION), and therefore knowledge in general, the construction of the New Extended Ideality - the ontological basis of knowledge and cognition for the New information age: ontological framework, carcass, foundation. Mathematicians sweep the problem of the ONTOLOGICAL JUSTIFICATION of mathematics (ontological basification) “under the rug”. D. Bukin in "CRISIS OF THE FOUNDATIONS OF MATHEMATICS AS A CRISIS OF ONTOLOGY" : "The crisis of the foundations of mathematics is, first of all, the crisis of ontology, the essence of which is the inability to describe objects, the fact of being or becoming of which goes beyond the usual ideas about the world. Way out such a crisis state should be sought not so much in the improvement of the methods of mathematics itself, but in the renewal of the cognitive means of ontology, which do not deny the classical paradigm, but can go beyond its framework. is a historically proven method of comprehending the existence of a mathematical object in its development and relationship with objective reality." A.N. Whitehead: *_"A precise language must await a completed metaphysical knowledge."_* V. Voevodsky: *_“Material reality is the absolute judge of truth.”_* Kurt Gödel: *_“Matter will be spiritualized when the true theory of physics is found.”_* Philosophy is the Most Rigorous and Joyful Science, “mother of all sciences.” Who's against it?

Without even listening the answer is Trauma. That divided the Brain further. Men leaned to the left physical 3d side while most women navigated toward 5d elements of emotions and spirituality. Remember how they were always ones to push everyone to church. Well 75% of narcissists are men. Why? I believe as I said, men gravitated to left brain, and when left brainers get Trauma, they become narcissists, women too, but there are less. I had physical left side brain injury as a small child, so lucky me, I was a right brainer. Very quiet, sensitive, teased, weird and Autistic. In my opinion this Trauma has been going on for centuries and can pass to the children. Then you add War, negative news, Covid, social media, and we're all stuck scrolling our phones for a dopamine hit, which is what caused the imbalance in the first place. We don't have addictions; we have dopamine deficits from not being loved and protected properly or inheriting that trait. None of it is an accident. This was their centuries long plan to totally dominate. I don't think they got quite as many narcissists as they needed to get it done last time, now I don't see it. 5d is here and always has been. Right brain is the non-physical spiritual side and connection to God is possible through Alchemy. Jesus did it first that's why they call it Christ consciousness. It's really divine consciousness. I connected in 2010. I also received that Cain and Abel was really a metaphor for when the Trauma started, and when they also may have gotten rid of the ancient wisdom and teachings and started Christianity. Cain was the left brain, the farmer, farther from God, always working and envious of Abel. Then Able being the right 5d brain, the Shepard, the one closest to God. Since we're talking about the metaphor here, 3d couldn't even access the father in 6d. It had to be done from the 5th. The 5th is heart centered and you have to be in the frequency of unconditional love, and I think there's one more key that has to do with Jesus. Like having the same soul frequency or something. Whatever it is, I had it that night that God reached down with the assistance of the Holy Spirit and touched my forehead. I'm not just flying off the handle here. I was born a target. They must have been expecting a prophet, based on all the awful treatment happening to Empaths in the late 60's and early 70's. There was the Lamb who appeared slain. That could easily be me, because of the left head injury, and the lifetime of Trauma that I was never supposed to survive. That Lamb is also the one that opened the 7 seals, which I believe I have translated in the 7 stages of Alchemy, although both sides focus on the first four. Even Jungs theory had seven total stages, yet he only talked about the 4. The backup plan, according to the 4 males up my father's side, all died at 55 with internal stomach issues. My dad had gang green in his stomach organs. I was single at 55, so I probably dodged a bullet there. Intentional Trauma spread by good old you know who. Yes, we have become very left-brain dominant. It's not an accident, it's an invisible prison. Then the Wars and that generational Trauma, and the negative news. Mixing up different Traumas into marriages. For some reason those narcissists seem to know how to target us Empaths. The officials know how to influence the narcissists, and they love to torment the Empaths. I went through 6 years of covert narcissism. The 3d Matrix is becoming very exposed, and 5d is back along with access to source. The answer to the personal Trauma is to meet in the middle. We are supposed to have balance between 3d and 5d. They hid 5d from us and our access to God. 3d people have to get more spiritual and into their emotions, and the right brainers might have to take it back left a bit. Besides, heart center, if you do it right will also open the flow of divine energy to flow through you. I've hit that twice and it's an indescribable pleasure and peace. It's going to be something to see if we get out from under this 3d matrix. The negativity effects everything on the planet. You might even see animal violence drop too almost none. That's what we are up against. I've said a lot in a few days, but I wanted to get out what I have so far, just in case. I'm guessing there was one group waiting for me, who don't want to believe it's me. I get that, but not still. I even heard a social media group was contacting a record company about me. All I know is they keep saying, "how did he know that? He's not supposed to know that"! So, my guess is these idiots are trying to find out if any music recordings state the secrets I have revealed. There aren't any. However, I get tons and tons of confirmation from a lot of the music I'm into like Tool and Rush. But even then, it's in metaphor. You'd still have to give me credit for decoding the metaphor like Cain and Abel or the 4 Horseman and a whole lot more. That Blog is just the objective big picture. Lots of details to uncover. Looking at your timestamps, I'd say I've given you a lot to chew on. It's all about frequency, and they got 3d locked low so no one can raise up and get out. It can be done though, as I did it. We have to continue identifying and shining lights on things in the 3d that tend to lower your vibration. Get rid of what no longer serves you, which means anything that lowers your vibe and wouldn't stop if you told them. I had to go no contact with all family and spent 8 years in isolation. I know I know, hopefully I found some shortcuts in there. This Trauma program and low vibe 3d society and consciousness have to be our primary focused. If we come up with a fix to society without addressing those issues, we just better figure it out sooner rather than later.

Beauty, if judged and discerned by the left hemisphere, is not absolute. That something or someone actually exists implies that their existence carries an imbued beauty. This is a very spiritual/contemplative requisite attitude. Suffering comes from desire and aversion says the Buddha. In other words, judging ( left hemisphere) that isn't based on an immediate survival situation for an organism, is a negation of the intrinsic beauty of God or creation.

Personally I much more prefer the neuroscientist here talking about his observations and conclusions than the psychologist trying to sell virtues, purose and "beauty". The latter are concepts invented by the brain for the brain to keep its overload of neurons nicely firing. AND the idea of a _longer lifespan_ has to be investigated more rigorously. But anyway, thanks for presenting this very interesting interview. I'm a left handed carbon unit.

Doctor Iiain, People divide their brain them selves through removing the "I" in their speach to avoid responsability and accountability but that lack of responsability and accountability is also lack of their power and lack of their control in their personal life which in turn they present in speach, they look for answers while at the same time they hide who is doing the actions, it's passive reflexive thinking that has begun to prevail in the world and looks like depression, or in my words "spoiled conciousness". What are your thoughts on this observation?

I'm dead curious about this whole left/right hemisphere business. If the left is so ---- basic---- in its identification of things... basically emotionally driven... then why are the 2 sides of the brain more or less equal size? There is the limbic system that is pure emotion as it evolved earliest... then the frontal lobe and then the prefrontal cortex last (it's also the smallest) - (hope i got those the right way around.) The frontal lobe is more emotional and prefrontal cortex is more calculating. I don't know how to gel those things together with the notion that left hemisphere is dedicated to basic emotions (is that not the limbic system?) and the right is calculating (is that not the prefrontal cortex?) I wish he'd talk about that - along with where things like languages sit, visual acuity etc. He makes such a stark contrast between left/right that i don't know how to gel those with findings from brain surgeons who have to look for which part does what in the brain whilst the patient is still awake and label them with little "post it notes". It's a proper mindfuck. And maybe the combination of all our research suggests that we have become so focussed at being specialised in one thing that forgetting the 'whole' is a mistake and everything we see as evidence is actually only a tiny part of the story and you can't come to any real conclusions without considering all other manner of evidence.

We know about the brain through words: thought is words. Can thought, can the word, touch the dark, natural substrata that produced it? But we are that dark, natural substrata. Does thought even know what thought itself is? Obviously not, yet it thinks it knows what everything else is, including 'you', by simply pointing to something and calling it a word. This is a social process acting through you, because society is the author of the word, the thought, the label, and it imposes it on perception. Know what awareness is. See what is not love. Then there is nothing left to know. The problem of consciousness is the problem of love. Don't touch the former and ignore the latter. You may not like it, being averse to touch as we all are, but they go together. Don't pursue one without the other.

He has a good intuition, it is materialism, addiction (hard drugs like alcohol and crystal, but also lighter ones like cannabis, even if that plays the smallest role, but even then it is relevant how consciously we deal with it), which also includes highly processed food with hard ingredients. There is also the internet and other media. We can use some of it if we allow it to be used consciously, but it would make sense if it were easier and safer for people to use. I am only dominated by the energy given to me by God, which is why both halves of my brain work simultaneously and in a balanced way and therefore function... @@DnBComplex Are we talking about bringing meaning and understanding, or about the both sides of brain working in a balance manner? You're deviating from the matter. Anything can bring meaning and understanding, yes, but it doesn't follow that attaining meaning and understanding makes your brain be balanced. A serial killer's deranged mind finds meaning in certain acts. An atheist scientist is seeking understanding too. What we're talking about is modes of making a balanced brain. McGilchrist is very clear: I am ONLY dominated by the energy given to me by God". That sounds to me like an admission that nothing else can help his brain work in a balance way.
