@sankaet nagrale While it is a good document, I want to mention a caveat. Learned Hand, a famous America judge, rightly said, "Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women; when it dies there, no constitution, no law, no court can save it; no constitution, no law, no court can even do much to help it." For all the merits of the Indian constitution, it will be rendered meaningless if the people don't upload its principles. Take the recent happenings in Kashmir. Rounding up people based on political notions and holding them hostage is a clear violation of Article 21. Yet the Supreme Court sat silent. So that sets a precent. Every failure to do the right thing only corrupts the system more. Which is why India, despite having reasonably sound laws, languishes in more respects than one. We can beat our chests about being better than Pakistan, but the truth remains that we are ourselves dysfunctional in so many ways.

This is lesson for us.... What NOT to do. Thankfully India took different route and hence we are functional democracy but somehow recently there are attempts to undo this. We must learn from Pakistan and not to impose this unification and fake hate filled nationalism or use religion for political benefits. We have chosen wisely when we were vulnerable let’s not ruin it now when we have seen the effect where it will lead us. Proud of India and our forefather for choosing the right path.

Remember, it was the same people who crossed the border to be in their chosen country.. just because someone chose to move or stay back in India, doesn't mean they are any lesser Muslims than you believe Pakistanis to be.. and ethnicity is defined by region, rather than religion.. Its a formidable narrative "raise the army to match the threat, whereas Pak army raised the threat to match with." A very nice and conclusive statement by Mr. Haqqani.
@shahbazkhan2428
@shahbazkhan2428 5 жыл бұрын
It may sound nice but it is not correct. The reasons Army became dominant in Paksitan are 1. The inability of the civilians in power post-independence to form a constitution. They were mostly from areas left behind in India. They feared democracy. 2. Pakistan felt very insecure. The massacre of Muslims which took place in Punjab immediately after partition and the arrival of "death trains", and the 1948 Kashmir war were instrumental in driving Pakistan towards becoming a security state rather than a welfare state.
@globalcitizen1856
@globalcitizen1856 4 жыл бұрын
@@shahbazkhan2428 First point is correct. The founders of Pak were not leaders and never fought for freedom or common man. The second point is totally incorrect - the people who died were Hindus & Sikhs coming from Pak Punjab. The killings were initiated by Jinnah and Liaquat to make Pak the land of "pure". The "death trains" had notices stuck that said "gifts to Gandhi & Nehru"!

People who lie about their History would never create one, The sad and pathetic state of Pakistan is due to their failure to accept the truth and sincerely work towards a better future, most of the Pakistani society is intellectually bankrupt, you would never hear anything fruitful and worthy coming out of that land, We adhere and seek truth for self improvement, it is a burden but also beautiful. A society which abandons the path of truth and self criticism and improvement is doomed. Pakistan is an example from which we all should learn, People should raise their head above some Mythological or fantasy land and talk the facts, you can't maintain a coherent peaceful society with such state of mind. Mr Haqqani is also right about dangers of using Religion in political discourse, Politics is about governing policies of society and once you allow these "Thekedars" of religion like Mulla, Clerics and Baba to take over your government, they will cripple you intellectually and socially forever, They will eat the best food, live life in luxury while you will be starved and killed and will be told to endure it in the name of religion. India has a very progressive constitution and we should defend it by our life and should not allow any such "self appointed" saviors to take over us.

Himanshu sagar..what do you mean by progress? You seem to be self claimed modernist who think nationalists as non-visionary people even without doing proper poorva-paksha about them. Can't you see how both of them in the video are trying to portray as if Pakistan was made just on political grounds; otherwise if it had been made in the name of Islam, why did 35-40% Muslims decide to stay in India? Let me answer that by saying Muslims in India were ensured to be given all the Constitutional facilities probably more than Hindus in Majority and that too not on the expense of leaving behind their land or property unlike Hindus in Pakistan. Despite that Constitutional security, Majority of Muslims want to embrace Islamic rule of Pakistan. Not only this, most of the Muslim Ullemas (scholars) of Indian subcontinent of that time went against Jinnah and explicitly asked Muslims to stay in Hindustan bcoz they had this gut feeling that Indian subcontinent will itself become Muslim majority in due course of time like that in Egypt(Misra), Iraq(Babylion and Messopatmia), Iran(Zoroastrian), Indonesia, Malysia, Thailand, etc. But a few Ullemas of that time disagreed upon this and they said that it would be foolish to leave such a big chunk of land i.e., Pakistan (East and West) as of now bcoz if even after 1000 years of Islamic rule, we are in Minority; then how can one ensure that Muslims will be in majority in another 1000 years and that too in Hindu governed democracy? Even Iqbal went from saying "Saare jaha se achha, Hindustan humara" to supporting the formation of Pakistan in the name of la-ilaha-illallah. Even Ambedkar warned Nehru that true Muslims can never accept India as their Motherland bcoz ' ibi bene ibi patria' is unthinkable to Muslims i.e., where there is the rule of Islam, there is his own country or in other words, Islam can never allow a True Muslim to adopt India as his Motherland and regarda Hindu as his kith and kin. And the result of that confusion among all those Muslim Ullemas along with the complexity of power hungry Jinnah, 'larger than life' image of so called secular Father of Nation Gandhi, epitome of secularism Nehru and the sidelining of Sardar Patel had turned into a reality that today in 2018, Muslims are widespread in whole Indian subcontinent and enjoying all Constitutional facilities of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh wherein Hindus are confined to shrink from Indian subcontinent to India and now are being driven out from Kashmir too. But some secular liberandus who allege us of giving certificates of anti-nationalism will now here start giving me certificates as fascist or sanghi or bhakt and what not. I am not against Muslims but against some Quranic verses that make Muslims potentially more loyal to Ummah than India. And the same goes for other Abrahamic faiths as well. Those who think solving poverty in India will solve everything and Hindu nationalism is absolutely not necessary, really don't understand the war of Civilizations and setting World Order according to one's ideology. I would actually go to the extend of saying Democracy is Hindu phenomena and not due to 1 or 2 leaders. Can anyone say that had Gandhi Nehru Ambedkar type of leaders been in Pakistan, they would have been able to make Pakistan a real secular democracy? huh? See, Politics has always been a part of Hinduism since Ramayana and Mahabharata days. Therefore saying Hindutva has nothing to do with Hinduism is a naive and cunning statement. Himsa(Violence) does not always mean physical; dismantling one's culture or reputation also come in Himsa category. It is not Hindutva of RSS that has polarized people bcoz RSS and it's ideology is there for more than 70 years now. This polarisation (I prefer to say it Enlightment) is the result of People studying Quran by themselves on Internet and getting to know Islamic Intention as an ideology along with small small events taking place in India favoring those Quaranic verses+Terror attack world wide(including in India)+Indian History books controlled by Islamist-Naxal nexus and the pattern of their undercover urban agents everywhere+Congress's core ideology (i.e., Minority can only and only be helped by dividing and knocking down Majority otherwise no way out to ensure Equality in the number game of parliamentary form of democracy)+Hypocrisy and selectivity syndrome of Main Stream Media in the fashion of liberalism which people came to know about after 2014 that these intellectuals and self claimed liberals are actually fundamentalist about their so called liberalism. Not only the intention of the central and state govts, even our Constitution looks like a little biased against Hindu institutions. Taxes on meagre temple donations, government siezure of all temple properties, no freedom to do satsangs/preach. Minorites are exempt from all such things. The CHURCH OWNS second largest territory in India after GOI. Amidst of all these, I believe that we urgently need a Grand Narrative of India that can encompasses everyone with dignity bcoz in the name of ensuring Equality, you can't belittle Majority and Merit at the cost of prosperity and growth of this country. yes we're the only civilization with heterogeneous complex identities but we have managed to continue this great Civilization not on the basis of fake concocted pretentious 'Unity in Diversity' theory as propagated in the west. Rather the binding force that has always been there in this Civilization is actually 'Diversity in Unity' concept which principally induces the actual sense of belongingness amidst all these multi-culturalism and pluralism inherent in Indic religions and therefore this concept must be mentioned in the Grand Narrative of Bharat. It is this unique open architecture Concept that has helped us to explore life and the so called Universal Truth in our own way without feeling any theoretical insecurity unlike in Abrhamic religions and then later debate on that based on real time experiences and empirical evidences. That's why we have so many (Indic) religions originated here like Santana Dharma(Hindu), Sikhism, Jainism, Buddhism and even Atheism bcoz all these Ways of Life accept that we all are essentially one(Satchidananda) and Life must be lived on the basis of Dharma(law). This 'Diversity in Unity' is self sufficient for one to understand that it has essentially brought to all these Indic Religions the same samskaras in principle to deal in this practical world while making responsible choices such as Mutual-Respect (not this hypocritical Tolerance which intrinsically sounds very insulting too), Reform with the evolution in time, and Minimization of Harm (not absolute Non-Violence which is impractical too bcoz 'himsa'or violence does not only mean physical violence; it also means destroying somones's culture or reputation or intention) in the context of both Nature and Humanity overall. These Abrahamic Religions which say it's either my way or the highway (satanic) have created this problem of exclusivity but they should also be included within the grand narrative of India (Diversity in Unity) bcoz after all Muslims and Christian brothers are also part of our Indian demography, but on the basis of Mutual-Respect and Minimization of Harm (here in this case 'India First' as the minimum qualifier) i.e, by checking their potential of being more loyal to outside India (i.e Vatican or Mecca or Jerusalem). But to fight against these exclusive expansionist forces, after scientifically dismantling Aryan Dravidian theory once and for all; we must uproot this menace of fake birth based Caste System 1st by reclaiming temples and taking them over from Govt's hands and introducing Vedic education in temples so that people in general know that it was never meant to be by birth in our scriptures, by inter caste marriages and then by introducing economic assistance to poor and weaker sections of the society instead of 'jati' based reservation system and build a sense of Hindu unity among all Hindus. United Hindus can be best friends of United Muslims, but divided Hindus will ensure a free run for united Muslims in India. Period

I would urge all the indians to not hate Pakistanis or Pakistan cos we the pakistanis are also hostages by ISI and Army Generals. (Not the whole institution). Proof ? ok? Imran Khan will be the PM in coming elections 2018 and im writing this 2 months before the election day. We still believe that one day we will rise as Turkey and India. INSHALLAH.

Nice to hear that u ppl are realizing the fact.main problem with two sides are illiteracy n unemployment.India with it's large population somehow overcoming past mistakes n literating ppl but Pakistan army n ISI don't want ppl to get educated while they are sending there kids to Oxford n US for education. I can tell u Indian sentiments are not Anti Pakistan , only problem is ISI n army which starts creating enemity when relations starts getting normalizing.

Only ignorant Pakistanis of ours can deny and question his patriotism. I've read his books, and he is a terrific writer. Shall place the order for this one too. It's ripe and right time we shunned our illogical predilection for the populist Islamist Ideology and return back to Jinnah's Secularism. Please, anyone interested, do read Ajeet Javed's "Secular and Nationalist Jinnah". Our country has gone on wrong trek and we've been misled to the primrose path of destruction by our intelligence and agencies who have had pursued a Jihadist ideology, following a rigid and conservation strain of Hadithist Islam.

Exactly, while people might run around celebrating victory of "their" religion over others, such scenes and attitude and attack on basic constitutional and democratic values and principles can devastate us in long run, Our achievements is due to our constitution and values we adopted to practice and promote, If we also become like Pakistan which talks mythology and can't deal with truth and their own History, we will also become a nation where bunch of elites would abrogate all the powers while rest of the population would be shown middle finger on daily basis. The History is not the Only issue, because If I am in an Elementary School in Pakistan, I would not need a Detail History of Mohenjodaro, Taxila, Mehrangarh, Potohar, Or any other Civilizations that existed before Modern History of Pakistan. These kind of topics are discuss in detail When a Person reaches in College and Universities. The Idea of Pakistan is a Modern than other Civilizations, because Identity of Pakistan is a Culmination of Different ethnicity of People with a Same religion of Islam, Which thought us Tolerance to other people of faith and ethnicity. In last 70 Years, Pakistani were fooled by People in Elite Society to be use as Fooder for their World view. Now Pakistanis have come to realize that our culture is of tolerance and acceptance of other faith and ethnicity.

Answer a simple question, as Modi was elected with un President majority in recent times, what percentage of the population do u feel are Modi Bhakt? A second question if u Allredy categorize a significant population as differnt & use a presumed derogatory term, how do you think this population will even bother to see your comment in a positive light & make a corse correction if required? While your comment should have opened a new horizon of thoughts for some who might be gliful with present state of affairs you make the society further divided by your rhetoric. Grow up please & if you have a good intention make your good intentions felt, fight for it but with grace coz at end of the day u are fighting to your fellow brotheren.

Great question, As in the above interview it said that Jinnah died a year after the partition. It's like a child became an orphan at the age of one year, and Pakistan didn't get any leader of his statue, and that too at the early and most critical phase of Pakistan. That is very the foundation of Pakistan remain weak, and thus it level able to grow up. As, after partition, it's our then PM Nehru and especially Sardar Patel, who integrated all the princely states, and made a unified India, which many western countries have thought would disintegrate very soon like that of European countries. In brief, there won't be any India, that we see today, with the largest democracy, largest written constitution, highly diverse and yet integrated, without the personalities like Dr B. R. Ambedkat, J. L. Nehru, Valabhai Patel etc. I think we would have been in a worst state than that of Pakistan if we had not been gifted with such leadership at the early phase after independence or partition. Assume, what would have been the situation of India, if Nehru = Modi, Patel = Yogi etc.

It's future is yet to come. Though it was created with fear that a particular majority community may in future Dominate a particular Religious Minority. ie Muslims. But there is a substantial difference between Islam and Muslims. Being Muslims might be a religious identity but Islam in itself is a Distinguished Socio-Politico-Economic system. Which unfortunately Secular Pakistan can't understand.

true..Both of them are trying to portray as if Pakistan was made just on political grounds; otherwise if it had been made in the name of Islam, why did 35-40% Muslims decide to stay in India? Let me answer that by saying Muslims in India got all the Constitutional facilities probably more than Hindus in Majority and that too not on the expense of leaving behind their land or property unlike Hindus in Pakistan. Period

Mr Haqqani is a gentlman! Respects! The day, Pakistan brought in Sharia Law as Rule of Law for Living in Pakistan, foundation was laid for disintegration of Pakistan! In my view, current situation is: Chinese control of Pakistan economy, security and foreign affairs is COMPLETE! Only the uncontrollable variable that will play out is 2million plus Jihadist young men and women operating in Pakistan as a Terrorist Club married to the idea of "One Muslim Ummah for the Whole Humanity AND Pakistan will be its Custodian"! This group is supported by ISI and Pakistani Army for logistics and ammunition AND receives fund from sources in Saud and Turkey! They are more resourceful than Pakistani Govt for assisting poor people in dire need AND can easily recruit them for Terror Activities! The nexus between these Jihadi Groups, ISI and Pakistan Army have full control over the judiciary and any section of the Establishment! In exchange for bailing out Pakistan's debt, Chinese are taking control of motor ways, airports, etc. even major city garbage handling and disposal AT SIGNIFICANT CHARGE! Also, they are building China Towns along the CPEC Route for Chinese to live and operate their newly acquired assets in Pakistan! Indian demonetisation affected Pakistani Rupee Value significantly! Chinese are not fools! They know what is on the horizon! So, most of the 500-600thousand Chinese working in Pakistan as of now (to develop various infrastructure under CPEC) are PLA Officers and the next lower rank fellows in Civil Dress! Exceptions are as for technical skills were PLA members can't handle! They can be armed in a DAY to take control of security of their business interests in Pakistan! A few days back an Engineer smacked Pakistani Police fellows single handedly! If not for the training, it is impossible to smack Police like that! It would be interesting to watch , how the interaction between Pakistani Jihadis and Chinese will play out in the years to come!

The Modi government couldn't deliver in it's tenure and most likely will lose the 2019 elections, no rhetorics of the BJP leaders are going to work now. This is how things work in India, if the government cannot deliver then it's going to be overthrown in the next election why doesn't this sense prevail in the Pakistani citizens. No government has delivered yet in Pakistan but they only survive on the basis of religious rhetorics, why don't the people of Pakistan question them??? Why do the people of Pakistan fall for religious rhetorics every time knowing that they are economically backward?

Pogba ji, you may be right in the present scenario as the present party in power has overpowered the civil and administrative machinery to such an extent that they can dictate and get. The other possibility is the imposition of an emergency if loosing power seems inevitable. Thanks

I am talking about the Pakistani citizens, why don't they question the people calling shots in their country. As far as India is concerned, BJP may win or loose but one cannot deny that there is growing concensus against the present govt. We can clearly see, there is effort by govt to hijack media, judiciary, election commission to name a few... Why such concensus among our counterparts in Pak is non existent.... Pak leaders can get away by saying that "we will eat grass but still make atom bomb". In India, govts have fell over inflation, let alone making us eat grass... thought we are a welfare state and they are a military state, still people will question retorics after a point....lip service don't make lives better.....the next gen Pakistani citizens have to hold there rulers accountable....

While listening to Haqqani's interview one would guess he is much annoyed and worried by Muslim nationalism and strong Islamic agenda. Haqani himself, in fact, from Jamat e Islami platform and hardliner of it. He became students union president of Islami Jamiate Talabs. People know that it is Jamat e Islam who has the strongest views on Muslim nationalism. It was the main party which supported Zia ul Haq and forced him to be a strong inclination towards Islam. Again he joined nearly all parties. So in the essence he has been part of all the troubles he is now talking about. While in US he pro America and talking that. The result of his all political thoughts throughout his life that he is what is called an opportunist.
