I laughed when Travis asked if there are Kiss Halloween costumes.... Hello, this is Kiss we're talking about, literally the most extensively merchandised band in the world, they got everything from Kiss condoms to Kiss caskets and everything in between, to quote Gene himself "We'll get you coming and we'll get you going" xD

I remember when their first album came out. I still have one of the first 100,000 copies framed and hanging on my wall...it does not include the song "Kissin' Time". I even bought a "Ronco rhinestone and stud setter" and put the diamond KISS logo on the back of my denim jacket. I took a lot of s**t for listening to them early on... guess I got the last laugh though!

REAL: In 2018, Kiss fan sites uncovered a newspaper article about a crime that Toro had been convicted for. I won't go into detail, it was what most would consider the worst. He passed away 30+ years ago.

I think part of that was the change from the leather s&m look to more spandex and foam costumes. Became more palatable to mainstream audiences. I personally like the early leather costumes best.

Gene stated, in a interview, that the president of their record company wanted someone from the group to speak on TV. He said he was chosen because he was more of the quiet one and didn't speak much on stage so that's why he was picked. Worked out very well because I think Paul would have talked too much.

The flash, the fire, the explosions, that was all there from the very beginning. The stages got bigger but the showmanship was all planned out. They had just released their debut album when this was filmed, Gene being awkward and cringe-worthy.

i wonder if they did it live. usually those shows did not want that.on top of the pops the who and iron maiden refused to lip sync. but in germany they could not and there is footage on you tube of them trading instruments with each other and with the singer while the playback goes on.

It was on Mike Douglas in 1974 that Totie met the band Kiss, who were making their first national TV appearance. Fields joked that it would be funny if bassist Gene Simmons, under the makeup, turned out to be "just a nice Jewish boy." Simmons (who is not only Jewish but was born in Israel) responded "You should only know", to which Fields said, "I do! You can’t hide the hook!" (Simmons and Fields became friends and corresponded until her death.)
