I find it funny that when artist paint without a reference, they're all like: This is going to look weird. but it ends up being a Raphael. while when I paint without a reference, I'm like: Okay, time to paint a cat, /forgets each and every cat she has seen for her entire life span. :'D

Label the cups! Or use ry different cups, I typically only drink coffee while I'm painting, but I use blue tinted mason jars for my water.

I really love art, i used to paint and watercolor all the time! I was in many art shows, and was obsessed with my waterpaints. But, i stopped for like a year, and really want to get back into it. Uhhhg i want to so bad! So im trying it out again, wish me luck!

I have watched a dozen watercolor how to vids,this girl has broke it down to it's simplest nature, answers I was looking for,easily found in this one vid. basics are the one thing I needed. once you know how something works, techniques can be mastered. good job!!!

Had a watercolor kit for years and wasn't ready to try it. I am a true beginner. I thought I would try out my kit tonight. Your tutorial was so inspiring. I used one color and tried out brushes and brushstrokes and different water "combinations." Thank you -- very good!

Thank you Dana for putting up this tutorial! Sometimes the tutorials for beginners are too much "art concepts and techniques" about colors and shading random blocks.. I just want to start trying things, but feel overwhelmed with the technique overload.. You did some quick basics and jumped right in to fun shapes and objects which made it feel more relaxed and less overwhelming.. I can't wait to try!! Thanks!

Thank GOD I found this. Every other video is like for beginners but it's a whole forest or Ocean scene. This is a beginners fr fr thank you. My biggest problem is handling the water because I couldn't figure out how a tiny drop of color turned into a gradient flower petal.

useful tips.. leaving space between things is a good thing to know for me xD 28 and i've only used watercolors a few times but never knew how to use them
