NK is a warg/seer like Bran. He knew Dany being born would bring on the dragons and he knew he needed a dragon to get past the wall. They started building their army when Dany was born during the storm.

You all seem to forget about the Azor Ahai prophecy, which is NOT the same as the prince who was promised. We know Azor Ahai would be reborn amidst smoke and salt under a bleeding star, waking dragons from stone after a Long Summer. This is about Daenerys. Daenerys also repeated the Nissa-Nissa sacrifice, when she killed her beloved Drogo, and without knowing it, exchanging his life for Drogon's (GRRM said she used bloodmagic without knowing it). Now, both Daenerys' bloodline and her fullfilling the prophecy of Azor Ahai are associated with R'hllor in some way, and I believe that Valyrians have silver hair because of breeding with "Black/Fire Walkers", just as the Starks might have bred with the Others. If you read one of Septon Barth's writings, he says that according to legend, Valyrians learned to tame dragons by a mysterious race that originated from Asshai-by-the- SHADOW. R'hllor is called the "God of Flame and Shadow", so the chances of that race being fire walkers are very high. Moreover, there is a dark city above Asshai, Stygai, where even shadow binders dare not to tread. Back to our topic: Daenerys is the perfect vessel/avatar to be possesed by R'hllor or one of his minions, just like the Night King is a Stark possesed by the Great Other or one of his servants. So mabye Daenerys will have dragonglass plunged in her breast at the Isle of Faces by the last Children or Melisandre and her Faith. And no, dragonglass won't turn her into a White Walker, because it is also called Frozen Fire, and is literally frozen fire. The ritual is what matters, which entity of the two will be called upon. They used a Horn of Winter when the last version of The Night King attacked. It was used by Joramun (who aligned forces with Bran The Breaker) who is akin to Mance at present age. This was seen, at the The Fist Of The First Men when Sam found the dragonglass. It was said to awaken "The Giants Of The Earth" and allow them to rise. It was eluded to be in a "Night's Watch Cloak." I doubt this was shown for nothing. DO we think they will use it? What will it bring?

I'd like to see a blovar/lich king style ending. Where it turns out there needs to be a night king and someone has to make the noble sacrifice to become it and live eternally alone up there. I could see Jon Snow taking the responsibility and saying "and now my watch begins" Martin did say he had a bitter sweet ending planned

You've forgotten the part where a white walker tried to kill Jon at Hardhome and the part where he throws a spear at Drogon. He does not value either Jon or Dany's lives, and as such, does not require their baby.

Isaac Hempstead wright said that the night king and the 3 eyed Ravens were "ancient enemies". He said this in his videos on the history of Bran Stark. Since the 3 eyed raven needs a replacement I think it only makes sense that the Night King needs one too. His replacement will be Jon Snow. The prince that was promised (Promise me Ned. Promise me.).

What a well researched and original theory! Honestly, everyone is too busy backstabbing and deceiving each other to defend against the night king

Hear me out, this is how I picture this thing ending: Jon and Dany have a kid together (duh!), Jon defeats the Night King but to take the army of the dead away he has to lead them so they stick a piece of dragon glass in his chest (one Jon Snow for another, also I think Dany should either go with Jon here or will die giving birth), Tyrion holds the throne till their child comes of age (hopefully they leave him a dragon or two). Sansa sacrifices herself to save her house leaving Arya to become Lady of Winterfell, and the way this story was supposed to start (Barotheon betrothed to a Stark) will finally happen with Arya and Gendry getting together. Samwell will be telling and writing this story to little Sam and will finally be writing his own achievements and will make sure that everyone knows how to prepare for the next winter. Let me know don’t be too harsh

While the conclusion might very well come to be true, it's still unreasonable. If we accept that the Night King can see far into the future, then it would be far more reasonable to emerge near or during Robert's Rebellion--when Jon was born. No Dragons to fight. No readied armies to struggle against. A newborn Starkgaryen infant ready to be taken, with less diluted Stark and Targaryen blood than anything Jon and Daenerys could conceive.

Unless they still have a surprise in store for us, they wasted the Night King by making him the typical villain who wants to destroy everything... Such power but he still underestimated Arya (when moments earlier he ressurected the battlefield's dead to prevent Jon from delaying him from his true target. Bran. And when he got to him, instead of "ordering" his Walkers and wights to kill Arya (or catch her), he decided to "deal with her in person". Game of Thrones is an amazing TV show. Many will try to replicate it's success (perhaps the Lord of the Rings series will succeed). But personally I was watching it for the White Walkers story arc. Now I've lost interest in the rest of the season....

You've got it! I've got a long standing theory that Craster is actually baby Maegor Targaryen, the son of Arion Brightflame who went missing years before the story started.

My theory: The children created these cold others throwing off the seasons, making periods long gloomy cold. The NK, onlike the other others, retained his human heart, and wants needs a child of first man and Valyrian decent to transfer his powers too so that the seasons are regulated once more and he can be free of the thing that he is. Boom, all theories rolled into one making the NK the good guy.

There is actually a very interesting scene in S5 Episode 5, where Sam tells Stannis ''The Children of the Forest used to hunt with dragon glass dagger''. Maybe they stabbed so many men that they all turned. And they needed to turn the Night King because he was a warg. That is why he can turn people to Wights himself.

The NK is coming for Bran! His birth reawakened the night king - he’s about 8 or so when the show begins which kind of makes sense as there’s been murmurings that the walkers were back, building year on year. The NK foresaw Brans power awakening - bran is the most powerful 3 eyed raven even with the possibility of changing the past and controlling the future. This represents a real threat to the NK and perhaps he foresaw Bran defeating him. Since Bran awoke from his coma and gained his third eye, things have accelerated. I hope bran gets a power boost when the dragons arrive in winterfell. Much like the warlocks did. I also hope he rides a dragon in a specially designed saddle by Tyrion. I think the only way he can warg into Rhaegal is to be close to him and therefore be riding on his back. I hope we get to see him be much more powerful and important in S8 as has been foretold in previous seasons cos he was very weak in S7. I predict his fate is to stay too long in the past or inside a host (Rhaegal, even the NK? ) and be lost forever as Bloodraven often warned. Ps - didn’t the children help the first men defeat the NK first time round after realising and repenting for the evil they had created. I thought that’s what was drawn in the dragonstone caves. Plus it’s stated that their magic that was put into the wall to stop them from getting south again.

Hi, I have a theory about the White walkers, i am only show watcher and recently start reading the books (i don't know how that theory will look from book perspective). So....... i think that the WHITE walker = Weirwood tree or WHITE tree, we saw in the show how the children of the forest ''creates'' the first white walker, but i don't think that this was ''creation'' that was some kind of a ritual, with magic spells and dragon glass in the heart somehow they transfer the Weirwood tree ''soul'' to the human and now ''the tree can walk'' that's how the White ''tree'' becomes White ''walker''.That explains how the white walker can interact with Bran when he is into the weirwood ''net'' ! In S6 E5 when Bran enter the Weirwood net alone, when he was touched by the night king, moments before that scene ,we saw the same tree where they make the ritual, and if u look closely not only the tree is dead but it is split in half that must be from the ritual! I think every weirwood tree have different ''soul''(every tree have different face right?) but they are all connected somehow. When the children decides that it's time to act to stop the humans from cutting the trees, they make that ''ritual''and stops the war, after the pact with the help of the white walker they make the ice wall, and he goes north to "rest", ''sleep'' or something like that, but after time, a long time he starts to do stuff that he wasn't suppose to do, and one of them is to take human babies and creates, or actually transfers other white tree ''souls'' into them and makes more white walkers. And now we see how rest of the White trees try to help Bran to stop the White walkers! 'Game of Thrones' prequel! - "And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros' history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend ... it's not the story we think we know." Could that be the true origin of the white walkers? :)Basically that's my theory, it can be total nonsense but it will be nice to see what other thinks .

An interesting theory. I think it is also possible that the Night King (like many others in the series) is relying on some prophecy or vision but has the facts a bit off; or is aiming to get one of several possible babies; or is looking for a queen at this point.
