I took the weight of two as she can't help herself, much less carry him as well, if she even wants to. These are two damaged people drowning (and drowning each other) but they both refuse to let go, despite the difficulties. He is realizing that he will have to let go of her to save himself, but does he want to? Eventually this relationship will be his end and he's acknowledging he's using it as another form of self harm, or at the least making it (his hell) worse. But for now he'll keep treading water because he is "hold his breath forever" stubborn and holding onto hope she will try (her high water).

I think I have a different take on the "weight of two" lyric. To me, personally it alludes to the fact that they were both fairly broken before the breakup but knowing that she has enough trouble handling herself she won't be able to ever take on the burdens of both people. I see the album as more of a metaphor for a very traumatic breakup/experience in the relationship.

So crazy about the Jaws synth, wow. But, also wanted to point out that Vessel actually has scars on one of his arms. You can always see them on his lower arm even with the black paint, in different lighting.

I took the line about "you are the perfect reminder of what these scars on my arms are for" to mean that he has self-harmed in the past due to self-loathing and that her treatment of him has justified the way he feels about himself. I may just be over-identifying too much though 😬

My personal fave!! Missing Limbs changes the pace of this album but it sets you up perfectly for TMBTE. TMBTE is my favourite album by far by Sleep Token and I Hope you enjoy it as much as i did the first time I Heard it on May 19th

Great ear!! I didnt catch the Jaws synth before. Wow! And I've had them on repeat since May 😂. I feel like this is also about a bad break up/relationship with the significant other. I think he was using drugs, self medicating, the marks on his arm could be self harm or needle tracks? Could be interpreted either way. Same as the other wouldn't bear the weight of two could mean that they didnt want to take responsibility for themselves and definitely not added with his burdens as well. Maybe. That's why I love Vessel's imagination. He guides you to what he wants to say but lets you interpret it your own way. Missing Limbs is tragic. I was sitting at Walmart waiting for pickup and just started crying 😭. Vessel just has this gift and idk if you ever heard THE SPEECH by Vessel from the room below, but man, it all just hit me while sitting there. Vessel says in the speech how he has suffered, but not just him as we have all suffered. Man! That's powerful. Goosebumps! Really liked this reaction, showed me something 😊. As usual, I love the different possible interpretations, and I concur with yours (although the "pull myself beneath the waves" could also be an allusion to baptism in the specific context of that verse that sounds very religious to me. Maybe he tried to turn to religion as some point after living whatever traumatised him?)

i take a lot of vessels lyrics are hinting towards sleep/ sleeps' love as being the ocean, for example in levitate he says "your body is mostly blood; like water a perfect flood, engulfing me again", in telomeres he says "as you breathe me out, i drink you in" and here, "but you know i can hold my breathe forever" and at the end of the song it sounds as though he is drowning, and in take me back to eden he says "we dive... but no one told me not to breathe, and now the weightlessness recedes". even in drag me under i take it a quite literally him saying she is the ocean, "drag me under again, deep into your love. hold me beneath the surface", and there are so many more examples of this but all the different ways his lyrics can be interpreted are wonderful, its such a shame though, when they are merely perceived as love/ sexual songs when i find even the "love songs" are quite emotional and despondent.

I personally believe High Water is a continuation of Sugar and has ties to both jaws and Nazareth, sort of coming a position of reflection, it seems as though he is looking back at the past almost like Sleep is the reason he cant be happy but also knowing he cant escape her clutches as you saw with the song chokehold We see in Nazareth, what seems to be malicious intent to a lover (possibly worsened by the effect sleep is having on him) and then in jaws he seems to be almost obsessive, sugar is showing an addiction to the highs of his relationship with Sleep and high water is his complete dependency on Sleep and maybe an attempt to question their relationship, "For the time being I will still avoid my own questions And we both bury that history deep But you know I can hold my breath forever" And then when compared to Sugar "You must be crazy if you think that I will give in so easily. Things we buried low Coming to the surface now, my love You must be crazy if you think that I will give up the game" and the with the end of high water it says "For the time being I will admit my defeat again" In both it mentions the buried history and the in inability to give up, (lost the battle but not the war) and you can see the way the songs draw on each other in beautiful imagery WORSHIP
