The other day I had a rematch against a streamer who I played against four years ago when I was still relatively new to DBD. Instead of being graceful in victory, they mocked me and harassed my chat. Well, needless to say I've gotten a little better at the game since then so I was ready this time. Please don't bring up the streamer's name if you recognize them; all your comments will be hidden and deleted if you try.

I had a similar experience to this when i first started streaming/playing dbd. I was playing killer (probably my third killer match ever), and a larger french streamer was a bully swf, whos only goal was to upset the killer and make them dc as they refused to progress the game themseleves. after what must have been 30 mins, i dc because i had no other choice as 90% of my game i was blinded from flashlights and couldnt move due to them blocking me (and as a new killer i didnt know how to avoid this). At endgame i said gg and continued on wiht my day, until the streamer and his chat (he had 2.5k live viewers so quite a bit came in at once which was overwhelming) started coming into mine and ridiculing how i played, the fact i had to dc, picking apart my looks, saying how women shouldnt play games for this reason etc etc. He proceeded to watch the whole game from my perspective, commenting on everything i said or laughing at my confusion of being a brand new player, and for the following 45 minutes after he broadcasted my own stream to his community. i had to shut my stream off as i was so hurt and embarassed at what happened, and i actually didnt stream for quite a while after as he said some really hurtful stuff that i will always remember. i wish twitch did something about it, but they didnt sadly. its really horrible that people find this 'fun' and have a community based off bullying others online.

I had similar situation when I started my journey with DBD and with the killer. I immediately picked Myers due to some reasons and I met huge bully SWF with one streamer after a couple of days, I got about million flashlight and sabotage saves, hundred pallets and hundred loops I've lost and finally he clipped out many moments from this match and uploaded it on his TikTok. After about five months or something like that I started to be die hard The Nurse main and I met them again, I remember that match in the past was kinda painful for me and I exactly remembered their names and streamer's character in this specific outfit, his name was hidden this time, but he was easy to recognize. I killed all four of them and I didn't give them a singular chance to any flashlight save or sabotage, three of them DCd and one was Mori'ed. It may sound stupid (because it is, I admit that) but after investing so nuch time into one game (over 6k hours in case of DbD for me) some of the most crushing defeats stay with you. For example, I still remember a Meg who played on console and absolutely destroyed me over 2 years ago on Rotten Fields. I played my main with a strong build and pulled every trick I could think of but this Meg was inside my head, I could not get her and only got a 3K (she escaped via hatch after one big final chase with me) because I ignored her as much as possible (she still gave me real trouble with some insane flashlight saves) and focused on her still decent but definitely weaker teammates instead. Unlike the streamer Otz faced though this Meg wasn't BM-ing at all - no teabags, no clicky-clicky, just one of the strongest Survivors I've ever gone against who outclassed me massively. If that Meg was in my lobby today I'd recognize the username as well, even after 2 years.

I have my own 'Nightmare streamer' story, Otz! Back when the game was new-ish, I was playing Survivor (and this was before SWF IIRC. Maybe a little after? I do remember that I was playing solo). It was down to me alive (and injured) and other streamer hooked. The Killer was setting up camp, complete with smores. So I'm hiding nearby and explaining to my viewers that the BEST result would be a trade, and the worst is that we're both hooked. Because I'm injured, so there's no way I'm unhooking him and getting away. Cue a sudden influx of 25-ish viewers to my stream, all starting to attack, belittle, and insult me for not trading. Insulting my intelligence, my gameplay, my voice; You name it, they had insults for it. It turned out that the other Survivor, on the *off chance I might be a streamer* (I did not have 'ttv' in my name), looked up my screen name on Twitch and told his viewers to attack me. Why? Because, and I quote 'I have more viewers than you, so I'm more important & should escape'. Karma hit hard for his ego, however; the Killer was stream sniping him after he realized the TTV had led him to the other 2 Survivors deliberately during the match, saw the whole thing, and let me escape. Told the toxic TTV player 'I let Eguzky go because you're an ass'. My viewers, myself, and the Killer all reported his twitch channel, too. I never followed up on it to see if he was banned, though. I figured his fragile ego took enough of a hit when his attack on me ended with me laughing my arse off at him instead of whatever he expected to happen.

A whole set of independent streamers coalescing into one lobby, and from the sounds of it it went the best it could've. If that other streamer had waited, he would've been able to be free - though as he was, that was the worse option.

I actually like facing bully squads like this. Gives me a reason to tunnel someone out and be an ass to them at 5 gens and play it rough whereas i can't do this to someone who is just playing the game normally instead of trying to make my life miserable. I don't feel okay doing that to a normal player.

thank you very much for this Otz, it's not a feeling of revenge but of "they got what they deserved" the cherry on the cake was the comment of "it's just a game" and you treat everything with such class and politeness, many others in your position would do exactly what he did and return fire with fire, you in addition to teaching us how to play better, you also teach us how to deal with issues that we will face in our lives in a better way, thank you

Just the knowledge that you'd never stoop anywhere close to their level of insults and harassment when the situation is reversed and even emotionally feel you have the incentive to do so is so powerful. Knowing that you won't put others down as an attempt to lift yourself up, regardless of how justified you'd be in doing so, is the kind of thing that let's you rest comfortably in who you are. Well done on continuing on being a great example for the community.

The way Otz handled this whole situation is so inspiring to me. Being a follower of his for sometime now and just seeing how respectful he is I knew that he was a genuinely good-hearted person, but after watching this video and just seeing how he approached it and turned it into a lesson instead of doing what the streamer did to him 4 years ago, I feel so inspired to be a better person and choose love over hate.
