People will quickly jump to the obvious, and say that Jose is arrogant...as a man. His work as a coach and his tactics suggests he respects his opponents...probably too much in his clashes with Benitez, during his first stint at Chelsea. Pogba was literally dancing against Switzerland, and lost that game. I have nothing against Pogba, but he was a symbol of France in Euro 2020.

@Rj M : They won on penalties but that doesn’t really show Italy dominance last night. Italy had 61% of the possession while England had 39%, likewise they had 26 goal attempts against 7 for the home team. Italy also beat the better teams to get to the final.

I'm a fan of Italy, but i do think France was quite unfortunate. They have defeated Germany, more than capable of beating Portugal (even though they drew) & very very unlucky to lose concentration against the Swiss. But, "complacency" is a real thing. You'll let your guard down.

Mourinho is totally right - France should have won the tournament outright; some of their play was truly mesmerising. Griezmann and Benzema regularly tracked back but were a joy to watch creatively. France had the players but were disunited and over confident. Of course Deschamps was rather unlucky losing TWO left fullbacks not just one. However, the lack of cohesiveness in the French camp was all to see! Italy and England deserved their appearances in the Final. They were more humble as well as being pragmatic. Football is ultimately a team game and increasingly a 16 man squad game.

I do not think England were arrogant. I think they were afraid. Certainly, England's media are arrogant, always have been. I think Southgate should have played Saka from the start of the game and they should have attacked from the start, and kept attacking. Saying that, I think England had already succeeded by just getting to the final. I think penalties should be abolished (but they will not be, for commercial reasons). I think games should be decided on disciplinary records in the event of a draw. This creates an imbalance forcing teams to attack.

The thing with national teams is they tend to be less coordinated then the clubs. England was the opposite as well. But they have stuffed up in the penalty shootout. Was this arrogance? Honestly I don’t know. I Ve never heard or saw a French players saying that they were the best. I think this is more maybe some conflicts between 2/3 players and the management of Deschamps. But I don’t think the group in general was arrogant.

Jose is the best manager ever. He always insists that your team MUST respect the opposition. Two examples. France in the Euros, and Man United when they turned up to play Villareal in the Europa League and acted as if they were attending a coronation. Jose always argues that you must respect the opposition and be appropriately humble. Of course the commonon denominator in both the France /Swiss game and the Europa Cup was a certain French player named Pogba - - - - . Surprised?

@ourd0gseven seriously??? At Wembley from minute 2, fans were singing it. Every newspaper in the country had it as front page and back page for the last week. There’s even pictures of people tattooing it on their skin - how is that not serious????? Think it was modric that said the arrogance around England comes from the media. Tbh France needed to get humbled, they have so many good players but all of them are so arrogant, look at griezman. Good striker, not special just good and acting like he bigger than Messi or Ronaldo. Im glad that Benzema did good coz he isnt as arrogant as many of france players. We'll vote on it next time!Don't need to spend 2 years qualifying to get to the finals..Be put into groups, win games, qualify for the knockout stages, win them, win the quarter final, then the semi final..play 120 minutes..against a team that deserve it.( I assume?).they hammer us.in a one all draw !!! So we resort to..penalties..Italy wins..what an utter waste of time.We'll hold an election next time and democratically elect a winner....no need to bother qualifying for anything then..good idea..I wonder how that will work out..the best looking team wins..we'll ask the ladies to select a winner.

Don't agree that England was one of the best teams. No creativity whatsoever. Italy, Denmark and Spain were better. Perhaps France had better talent but that doesn't always win tournaments.

As a England and Spain fan I see France as a stronger side than England and Spain. But England have a better squad than France. Spain is not as good as before plus there's no Real Madrid players which is disappointing. It's a finished team. I reckon they deserved to lose against Italy. They brought back Benzema which made France more interesting to watch and they crashed out early. Surprisingly. Good ridance. If England were to meet Italy again they will have to find their way because it's the strongest in europe. If England were to meet Spain or France they will murder them both. By the looks of England recently they can beat every team except for Italy, Argentina and Uruguay ofcourse. I know that England will make to the World Cup final even though it's going to be much harder because there are so many countries. But if they meet Qatar it will be hard for England but they can still beat them in 90 minutes. I'm thinking 4-0. If England were to meet either Italy or Argentina which is most likely, it will go to extra time and penalty shootout. The only way for them to beat either Argentina or Italy is to not stuff up in the penalty shootout. Now England will have to hit reset and start again. I believe this time England can surprisingly win the trophy in the World Cup. Because they will have much more improved team next year. Stronger attack, strong midfield and stronger defense. in order to managed the extreme difficulties of the World Cup.
