The Beast (also known as The Beast of War) is a 1988 American war film directed by Kevin Reynolds and written by William Mastrosimone, based on his play Nanawatai. The film follows the crew of a Soviet T-55 tank who became lost during the Soviet war in Afghanistan. The film has enjoyed a cult-favorite status in spite of its low box office statistics.

I love that they couldn’t find a Dshk, and decided to use a M2 Browning .50 cal instead 😂 Edit: wow didn’t expect this to blow up. I understand it’s certainly difficult for a western film production to obtain a Dshka without doing some digging. The anti-air aiming sight and the muzzle brake added on do make the .50 cal look like a Dshka, and it’s definitely better than some I’ve seen in other war films of the era.

This is just a propaganda movie, during cold war. Nothing golden in here. Soviet soldiers is shown herr just as brutal disorganised savages, which don't know anything. For example, there is a ussr movie named "Perehvat", where americans shown as a very dangerous, cunning enemy. Although I agree that there were alot of good movies back then.

@@ruslan3489Have you watched the movie? The guy with the RPG is a Soviet soldier who went awol and The tank crew portrayed here operated very well even when faced with such a difficult position. Not everything is Propaganda and to raise SOVIET movies as some sort of neutral story telling is quite hilarious.

The reason why some of the stuff is working is that things are built, usually with a much higher standard. For example, some american parts like pumps in the large bunkers (which are used for fish farming etc) are designed and supposed to last and work constantly for hundreds of years. This bunker, this guy was had to have been that in russia or somewhere in the east, at least. Because i saw the crates look like they have russian writing on them, and i saw one of the boxes (at 7:02 )that says 1971, I believe, so that might be the year.

if you were paying attention, they were all injured in one way or another - with the only remaining ammo being AP, making the shot even harder than it usually is - so pair that with the stress of being charged by an AT team unsupported and in the middle of nowhere, it’s unlikely they’d hit their mark.

Assumed aiming range 800 meters, but usually you must believe nobody hits anything less than ship at this distance, so for real command to fire goes at 400 and less meters. For tandem warheads 150-200 meters.

Love my Shield Plus. The only thing I hate is no rail. The reset on my trigger is quite a bit less than yours, not sure what that’s about. I tore it down and polished all the trigger parts, and it shoots fantastic.
