Actually everyone here is stupid for not realizing why it being a MMO is good: It could just be like Sea of Theives or Fallout 76 where you share a map with only a handful of other Taxis competing against you. Maybe even have a solo/co-op only option. Honestly, making it like SoT or 76 is the best route to go in this day and age for longevity with challanges and races and pvp/pve stuff. Maybe even throw in a "Classic Mode" for people who just want the OG Arcade style.

That's what I'm saying. It being MMO in the style of Sea of Theives where you still are just doing taxi missions but now with 8 other cars competing on the map is a great idea. It allows for racing, fare stealing (knock the opponent around to make their passenger leave), etc. I'm actually HYPED for it to be a MMO if its the style of 76 or SoT.

Mmo means massive multiplayer online. Basically every person you see driving a taxi/police cruiser is an actual player. I think the gist will be that everyone is competing to see who gets the most costumers/customer first while avoiding the police, which are likely also players.

Ill be honest, a Crazy taxi mmo does sound like it could be fun, compeating agenst multiple people to drive people about is a good idea. The last crazy taxi game was in 2014 for ios, and the last one on an actual video game system was in 2007 for the psp. They need a standered game before jumping into an mmo.

@@erikwagner6050 looked it up, and it appears this IS the remake people are talking about. It's not a separate project, but the phrasing on new articles are confusing. Eather that or this is the remake and the mmo stuff is eather a separate mode or is the main game, with I would argue means its not a remake, rather a new game.

Idk, this can absolutely work imo. Crazy Taxi is just incredibly limited by its arcade roots and short playtime, that's the main reason why interest vanished

honestly, an mmo version of crazy taxi sounds really fun, i mean think about it, you got players who are taxi drivers going head to head seeing who can get more money, and cops who try and stop the chaos, the whole point of crazy taxi is to be, well, crazy, so this sounds actually fun

I am PRAYING that it's just crazy taxi, but you occasionally pass by other players, maybe some races, but IT'S STILL CRAZY TAXI. I literally got an S class license on 360 in arcade AND original, PLUS the entire crazy box back when I was like 8, and THEN I got a crazy license on the back compat port to xbox one 2 months ago, so I am PRAYING this'll work

concept : two people have drop-off points in opposite directions and take the same blind turn and have a head-on collision, and then have to scramble to pick their passengers back up after they get launched out of the vehicles, potentially accidentally picking up the others passengers, and having to turn around and go back the way they came from, suddenly changing their entire route plan. if everything is done right, this game could be good, like, "GOOD" good.

I actually like this, reminds me of taxi simulator on roblox, where everyone fights over customers and destorys their own, and other peoples vehicles (for the funny) (That game also has vehicle and terrain destruction which i hope this one does too)

I can see there being races getting to a passenger first and then trying to drop them off while other players try to take them away from you. Maybe even a classic “take X to location before Y gets there first” scenario, with players choosing to fight over X, or race each other with X vs Y.

I am willing to give it a try, because that sounds wild. When it does come out, I am not even going to pick people up, just ram into people. Also, like you said, the original is on Steam, like with most everything on the Dreamcast and Saturn. Nights into Dreams is on Steam.

Quick question, would the thumbnail be incorrect since you would technically write“It’s *an* MMO” and not “It’s *a* MMO” because when pronouncing MMO you pronounce the m starting with an e sound? They're probably just talking about an MMO mode as part of the game. Sega's definitely been testing out huge online multiplayer gaming, with the Sonic Rumble beta test and the online modes in the new Super Monkey Ball game. I'm sure that the new game isn't going to be entirely MMO.

My expectation for the game is it will essentially just be a racer where you try to get the highest score to win. I personally hope they put in a classic mode, that’s just old Crazy Taxi with the new map, but that’s just my hope.
