THEY RUINED MY AUDI R8 :(

My Audi R8 was broken into. Thieves broke into my condo apartment, cut a huge hole in the convertible soft-top to steal my stuff. I DID NOT have any valuables visible. Turns out the convertible top is REALLY expensive to replace and can't be patched. Audi quoted me $7,000 just for the soft-top without labor. My deductible for insurance is $2,500 so looks like I have to end up paying that out of pocket. Nothing expensive was stolen - all they got was some sunscreen .

sorry to hear that man. the garage of my condo in west la got broken into a few times too. from my experience, your premium will only increase if it's at your fault. but.. they can always jack up the rates for whatever reasons later

Oh man. Sorry to hear Roger. Def go through insurance. Get the maroon too. Will look sweet and almost make it worthwhile. What a PITA.

Im an insurance agent. A comprehensive (not collision) claim will not increase rates much, if at all. Comp includes fire, theft, **vandalism**, fire, glass, weather damage, deer. Also comp deductibles of 2500 doesmt save much versus say a $1000 comp deductible. Its collision deductibles that make a big diff in premiums.

This was a while ago - would love an update. That being said you’re probably over it but for anything else that happens, just remember, you’re still doing WELL OFF! Any L’s in the future just laugh it off knowin you’re gonna get over it. Those thieves ain’t got a beauty of a car like you do

It’s around 9k Cad for Audi to do all the parts and works. It’s a expensive, time to get hard top convertible for next toy. Is the entertainment system still working for you? I’m thinking getting one but deciding the one you got VS Pioneer. Was your entertainment upgrade able to detach after installing?

It’s good so far. It’s attached pretty tight. The manufacturer says it can be removed I haven’t tried.

Don't just patch up the hole itself, make like a larger and longer patching so it looks like an actual add on, example like a strip of horizontal fabric across that entire section from one side to the other of the roof, and use a slightly different color so it looks intended

Leave the top down so they can just take stuff out without damaging anything. Or don't leave stuff visible.

COVID didnt make the crime sore. Some social justice movements caused it. Its just a taboo to talk about it.

Just leave your window down or something or keep the top down , and put a fake security sign or something

Yea im gonna do that or keep car unlocked. Nothing to steal in there and I can lock the glove box.
