Back story: I had an appointment at my OB's office at almost 13 weeks for baby's genetic testing. During the ultrasound, the technician told me that she could "definitely tell what the baby's gender is", and asked if I wanted to know. Of course I said, "YES! As long as you're sure." She reassured me that she wouldn't have brought it up if she wasn't 100% positive...
Fast forward to TWO months later, a different ultrasound tech informed me that THE GENDER WAS WRONG!
This is the most vulnerable video I've ever posted, ever! But I thought it's an important one to share in case anyone has a similar experience. Maybe I'm just hormonal and emotional, but this is definitely taking me a while to process. With that being said, I'm beyond grateful that my 21 week banana baby is growing healthy and strong - because that's truly all that matters! ☺️

Hi brian did you have a private scan done? Or just nhs scan? I have done my sneak peek blood test at 11 weeks and they said a boy. Then at 20 weeks ultrasound they said your placenta is anterior and its a girl.which one should i believe?

This video about pregnancy is probably the video I've felt more as mine. Same thing happened to me and I've spent many days crying, while the people around me did not get my sadness/disappointment. They kept saying : as long as the baby is healthy. Of course I want the baby to be healthy, that'sobvious, but the idea to have a girl was real in my mind. Thanks for sharing. I totally feel you.

I feel so bad for you. All your emotions are completely understandable! I am pregnant with my 4th girl and I couldn’t imagine if this happened to me. Once you feel you “know” the gender it defines the baby more and connects you to it in a different way and then to have it be changed feels like a loss. Don’t be too hard on yourself, you will adjust and love the baby exactly the same. Don’t worry mama! Sending lots of love! ❤️

Exactly! I suddenly envisioned my life with a daughter, and it felt so strange having that taken from me. But after a couple of weeks, I completely adjusted and now I'm sooo excited to have two boys. Thanks so much for your kind words!

I think maybe you’re feeling grief because you bonded with a girl and now “she’s” not coming. But maybe at the same time you feel guilty because baby boy is healthy and you feel like you’re slighting him by being sad- and maybe that’s not fair to him. But you know what? Feel how you feel because you are entitled to-It’s just fine. Give yourself that permission.

Thanks so much for saying that! That couldn't be more accurate. Of course I'm excited for another boy, I just felt weird that "she" isn't a she anymore. But after a couple weeks, I'm totally used it and so excited for another baby boy :)

Same thing happend to me two times. But after loosing my first baby boy at birth the gender wasn't important the other pregnancies. A healthy baby is all that matters. Enjoy this special time. Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱

This just happened to me! I was told girl at 12 weeks and at my 20 week scan today told boy. I am just not sure how to feel and I am sad about losing my girl. I’m still very excited and thankful for a healthy pregnancy, just confused. Thank you for posting this it is validating 💙

It's totally a normal reaction. I have cried out loud with 2 of my boys. I now have 3 boys 🤗 when they come, you forget about it. God is wonderful at erasing such pain. Now I'm pregnant, I'm not even planning to find out. Congratulations 👏🏽 I know it's been a year

i really felt like this today , i have two girls alreday and this is my last stop being pregnant, im 14 wks +3 and sonographer sneak peak and told me its a girl. iam happy but at the same time i still wish its a boy, i dont feel ashamed its real feelings, as long as iam greatful for life. i hope one day you will have a girl too. x

Having similar feelings. It's tough when reality doesn't match what you hoped and imagined. I didn't have an early ultrasound, just hoped for a girl as I have three boys already. I didn't realize how much I was hoping for a girl until I saw the ultrasound results.

I just knew, felt it in my soul. I purchased cute dresses and other things. The same tech who did the ultrasound for my second son, he told me in his happy voice another turtle and then it hit me, he use the same term, for my second son, I held the tears until I made it to my car, I understand how you feel. Mom of 3 boys, its was hard taking the girl clothes back, buying boy clothes is going to help you, but when they put him in your arms...nothing but LOVE.

The same thing happened to my daughter. She was told she was having a girl the whole pregnancy. When she went in to get induced, they did an ultrasound to check the position of the baby. She found out she was having a boy hours before he was delivered. Talk about shocking. She had to return all the girl things she got at her baby shower.

My SO and his ex thought they were having a girl. He said all of the ultrasounds pointed to their son being a girl. They found out in her last trimester that she was actually having a boy. They had the baby shower, had a name picked and all and they indeed ended up having a boy. He's 6 and you'd imagine technology would've been able to see that, but it surprisingly happens. I'm currently expecting and was told we're having a boy, but I keep having a gut feeling and dreams of having a daughter. Vivid dreams of us at the birth center and the baby is born a female; not a male. Idk if it's more we both wanted a girl (he has all boys and I have all girls), but at 3 weeks I found out we were expecting because I had a dream of leaving the ultrasound and they said we were having a girl. Took a test that morning and found out I was expecting.

This just happened to me:'( I feel so sad and disappointed. We were told girl at 14 weeks, and then boy at 18:( You are speaking my truth. I bonded with a girl and named her, even. But now I'm morning the"loss" of that future girl: ( My daughter is pretty upset at not getting a sister too. It's heartbreaking. I'm glad someone understands.

I got the blood test and i feel like its wrong . they said girl, i feel like its a boy. I did enough research , majority lf ppl said theyr having a girl based on the blood test , then till later they have the actual gender . it pisses me off so much.

M mother of 4 boys already ND now 17 week pregnant my Dr told me at week 13 that it was a girl but at week 15 she said it a boy ..being a mother of already 4 boys than news of having a girl gave me so power but it remain just 2 weeks until Dr said it's a boy ...m waiting for my anatomy scan pray for me that Allah bless me with a girl this time ameen

It depends on how sure your u/s tech was and how good of a shot they got. With both of mine, it was pretty unmistakable

I just found out last night at my 20 week scan that my little boy is actually a girl. I cried so much and I still feel so sad today. I'm not upset about having a girl but I'm mourning the loss of a son I'll never have, my husband and I were calling "him" by name, it is such a shock and I feel so guilty admitting that I'm disappointed things have changed. I'm sure I'll feel better in a few weeks but it's so hard to adjust your expectations.

Yesss! I 100% understand how you're feeling. It took me a week or two to fully wrap my head around it, and now I couldn't be more excited. I'm sure you're feeling similar now, too. It's just sooo shocking to find out they were wrong. When did you first find out baby was a "boy"?

@@rushainec2477 no I found out through a "first glimpse" ultrasound place at 19 weeks pregnant. I wasn't going to get my anatomy scan u til 24-25 weeks and I wanted to know the gender before so I could have a reveal party while family was in town. Since it was at 19 weeks I was 100% confident that it wouldn't be wrong. Turns out the ultrasound tech got about 3 or 4 other families genders wrong and was fired. Got a total refund and some 3D pictures for free to compensate.

I’m sorry that happened to you. My sister got told her 3rd was a boy at 14w then told girl at 16w. She already had a boy and girl so she wasn’t too disappointed. I’m currently pregnant and got told it is a boy at 16w. Have my 20w anatomy scan coming up and I would honestly be so upset if I got told he is actually a she. Gender disappointment shouldn’t be shamed upon. It’s natural to feel this way and should be talked about more in society to no longer make it a taboo subject.

Totally understand how you feel. I already have two boy's and I really want have a girl， My two boys had always wanted a Baby sister, but when I got a 20-week ultrasound, told them they had another boy brother , they told me they were heartbroken. Me too. I stay up very late now, otherwise I will think too much. It's bad to me . Because this is my last child, I will never have a daughter with me in the future.😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢💔💔💔💔

This was one reason why my husband & I choose to never find out gender. No one can be disappointed when you pull up your Heathy baby on to your chest and meet them for the first time! I’m sorry this happened to you but glade he’s healthy.

I’m currently going through this and am feeling exactly how you feel!! I had two blood tests originally that said boy and two ultrasounds that said girl. So I did that genetic blood test through the doctors office only to confirm that it’s a girl. So I feel you!!! I’m definitely mourning my boy that I thought I was getting. I probably still will be in denial until I have another ultrasound lol.

I just had my MaterniT21 test done last Monday I was just under 10 weeks and the results came back today but I also have a 12 week ultrasound on Thursday so I’m HOPING that they’re the same results because lately I’ve been hearing that the NIPT test is not as accurate as they claim and that’s a little frustrating.

Curious what you ended up finding out, if you don't mind sharing? Were they the same result, or different? And then what did you find out later on at 20 weeks? I'm currently trying to hold myself back from the "guessing game" because we did not decide to do the NIPT test, haha... But I'm so curious whether yours turned out accurate. I hope for your sake that it did!

I know this is an old video but for everyone out there 12-13 weeks is far too early! If you want to be sure from ultrasound I suggest waiting until at least 17 weeks! Just what I’ve seen as an OB nurse

I totally agree! I would've never gone to just to find out gender that early. I just believed the ultrasound tech when she said she could see the gender. I'll never believe them anymore until the anatomy scan haha.

I felt this heart break today. I have 2 boys and this is my last baby and we went to a gender prediction and they told me it looked like a boy , I took a blood test at 9 weeks and it said girl. I’ve been trying to find comfort & it was nice to relate to you. Idk why I’m sad .. I love my boys 😣

I had my ultrasound at 20 weeks and I was told it's a girl, I am hoping it's born a girl. But I completely understand your sadness, after you find out the gender you get to bond more with the baby and start thinking about names, clothes, and all of that changes in a second, it can be a shock!

I know this is an older video but I had to see if someone has went through this. I already have a boy and I am currently pregnant now and I swear I thought I was having a girl and got really attached on the idea of having a girl just because the symptoms I’m having is different than the first pregnancy. I got genetic test done when I was 10 weeks and 5 days and I am currently 12 weeks and they said I am having a boy.. I am hoping whenever I get an ultrasound done it’ll confirm 100% the gender just because I am in such denial but if the gender stays the same I will be blessed either way. Just unexpected.

A friend of mine was told Boy at 20wks then she had her 3d ultrasound and it showed Girl.. she already had her babyshower so she had nothing but blue stuff. so sometime it happens

Me too. I did a NIPT test and I was sure I was having a girl. But it’s a boy. I’m deeply disappointed and I feel so guilty and heartbroken that I fell this way. I desperately want to be over it soon. For my child and for myself

I’m sorry! I know how that must of felt. I have 3 boys and one girl. I did a sneak peak test a week ago at 10 weeks and it said it was a boy. I was so disappointed because I’ve been wanting another girl so bad. 😞 This will be my last baby and just knowing that I wasn’t able to give my 9 year old the sister she’s been wanting makes my heart ache. I am hoping my test somehow comes out to be wrong. I followed directions to the T. But I also don’t want to be in denial. 😞 I hope you get your girl soon!

It’s okay to be disappointed, you may have wanted a girl or trying for a girl, or it may have just been because you were so sure instinctually. I know what you’re feeling right now. I’m 14 weeks an just got my sneakpeek results last night an I was so sure I was having a girl, my mom that I was having a girl. I don’t know we were just so sure. I almost feel guilty for being so disappointed, like I will love my child regardless, but I wanted to have a girl so bad ya know. It took so long to get here, and finally I’m pregnant an at that point in my life, and now I don’t even get the little girl I wanted.

I wanted a boy so bad and I got told it was a boy and then this morning I got a call saying that my NIPT says girl and I feel exactly the way you do. I feel like I can’t connect with my baby anymore

I feel the same way I wrap my head around the idea of having a girl I got the NIPT done at 12 weeks just had my gender reveal says boy I was really hoping for a girl. I already have a 8 year old boy I'm hoping once I do the anatomy exam that they tell me it's a girl. I really believe is a girl because of my symptoms this time around I'm happy with a boy but I really want a babygirl. I feel your pain 😣

Just a note, the technology still sucks. I was told in my appointment girl, then at the end, boy. My friend gave birth to a baby with Down’s syndrome. She had no idea. All the ultrasounds and being under the care of an OB, they didn’t detect it. We have a long way to go.

I have 3 boys.. my 3rd i was told my whole pregnancy it was a girl..big surprise when He was out.. I cry 😢 alone as if I had lost my daughter couldn't bond with my baby for a day or two but then I pray and apologize to my baby boy and I love him so muchhhh

On ur 3rd baby... Before birth, while ultrasound scan did u see 3lines? Did the dr said and show u that u having a baby girl?

I think women want at least one girl because girl clothing is so much fun and also when they grow up girls stay closer to the mother (and the father). The old saying is somewhat true (A son is a son till he takes him a wife, a daughter is a daughter all of her life. -Irish Saying.) But not always. My oldest brother is super close with my mom.

I had my 20w scan yesterday, and even though they said boy I feel in my gut thats a girl and im gonna request another ultrasound at my next appointment because I'm just not seeing it lol. It looks so different my sons ultrasound

My mom was told my older sister was a boy but she kept telling them no it’s a girl. They thought she was crazy but sure enough she came out a girl 😂 that was in the 80s though! I’m an OB nurse and I’ve seen it a few times but not often!

Currently going through this. I had a strong feeling I was having a boy all my symptoms were pointing towards boy. Just did 19 week ultrasound and she said it’s a girl. Deep down I feel she might have made a mistake but then it’s accurate at 19-20 week.

Have you not done the nipt test?? If you do that they must be told you the exact gender at 9 weeks

My blood test said boy but I truly think it's a girl. I was more ill this time around and had a dream it was a girl. Although another boy wouldn't be bad, I want a girl so we can do things together. I can't do much hanging out with a boy after they reach a certain age. Next time, I don't want to know until my scan so I don't get my hopes up.

Hopefully my baby’s gender will change. I want my last baby to be a boy so bad but yesterday they said “can’t even say it”🥴. I remember seeing a penis at my 16 week appointment but yesterday was different, I feel so disconnected now. I am just hoping at this next appointment the gender will be seen a little more.

I get you. I wished for a second girl. Last week they told me it will probably be a boy. I felt crushed. Today I will get another scan but I fear they will confirm that it's a boy. It will be ok in the end. But I kinda need to grieve my little girl

Offices should not be allowed to use the word "probably" when discussing gender lol. Did you find out what the gender is for sure?

@@EmilyInman yes, they were right. It's a boy. I still struggle a little bit, especially when I see my little girl do something adorable and can't image a boy in this. But I know there will be other things to love with him. But the "probably" made it worse. For a week I thought maybe it was a mistake and so on.

Honestly, I get what you're saying and feeling. I'm pregnant with my 3rd and everyone convinced me it was a boy (I have 2 girls already) although I don't 100% know the gender yet, the babies nub says girl. I'm on a nub page and they have almost all been right at predicting the sex with the nub and I can also tell the difference in a boy and girl nub now. I just dont know how to feel. I feel wrong for feeling the way I do but I started convincing myself that I was having a son and I just know I'm not😢. I know I will love my baby no matter what it just sucks to feel this way.

I have a feeling this might happen to me. I had a harmony test and it showed a girl. I for some reason think it's a boy, 16 weeks now and waiting for my 20 weeks scan. Read tons of stories where harmony test was wrong when it said a girl. I already have a boy and will not be disappointed in any gender, however not knowing for sure makes me a bit anxious.

Our ultrasound tech said the only way to be sure is by birth! But we've had 2 different ultrasounds and she said both times that it's definitely a boy. I'm know it happens, but I can't imagine it happens ALOT. Maybe ask for more neutral colored items to set your mind at ease?

I am a mother of 2 girls, currently 13wks pregnant and my nipt test results say I am having another girl. Gender disappointment is very real 😢. I have my 20wk anatomy scan in November I’m still hoping my test came back wrong. This pregnancy has been completely different from my girls 😞
