See if the shelter is registered with the county. If so, they will come by to check it if y’all have a Tornado.

Always keep the kids bicycle helmets handy for tornado sheltering whether its under the stairs, in a safe room or shelter, or in the bathtub. We used to keep our under the stairs in the basement along with a case of bottled water, and an old mattress to cover up with if needed. We also packed a small back pack on days of bad weather with food bars and high protein snacks, toilet paper and pain medication, and a small medical kit. Buckets are good because they have multi use. They can hold things, upside down stool, scoop water if there is flooding, good for many things. Girl scouts used to make a recovery bucket with all their emergency overnight supplies in it and cover it with a homemade cloth pillow for sitting. That might be a great craft idea for the girls. I'm sure you can look it up on the web. Our girls kept theirs for years, for camping and sheltering when needed.

You need batteries, a radio, blankets, and maybe a small charger like a for your cell phones and stuff. You should put some solar lights around that storm shelter and that way you can find it in the night and also you could take the the solar lights downstairs with you so you can have light without wasting your batteries

I hope you never have to use the shelter. A few years ago we took a direct hit from a tornado and we didn’t even have time to get to the basement!

My neighbor used to go to the BAKERY AND GET OLD BREAD AND THINGS FOR FREE AND ATE SOME AND FED THE HOGS THE MOST. THEY LOVED IT.

We had tornadoes in January in Griffin, Georgia trees broke in my yard damaged my car and truck. Most damage was from trees falling causing a lot of damage.

Yes it's been crazy weather here in Northeast Missouri alot of rain and and close calls with tornadoes but okay. So glad you all were safe been praying for all my you tube families. Some not fairing well like Lester and Jami and all of Morrow Hill then of coarse Arms Family and there community. We've continued prayers and will for you all cause these storms coming. Be careful of water trapped in them. If for some reason you can't get out, you don't want water to rise inside. Hope you all stay well. I've been praying for everyone involved in the storms. A cot, blankets a few food items. Just in case.

I live in Pennà. We don't have tornados but we do get storms and they scare me so much. Watching those tornados in Oklahoma and that area were so scary and I had dreams of them at night. When Daniel and DeeJay Arms lost their baby donkey, a week old, never to be found..I cried. My thoughts and prayers to all of those dealing with these terrifying storms. God love you! No tornadoes, can get very heavy rain, live near a river, but most of year very little water, during rains will get high, no problem, most of our city is on hills. No we are not in Earth quake zone . Thanks to the neighbor for offering shelter for y’all. I remember your shelter on your former land. It’s been a crazy spring for OK and TX. Glad Shawn is there to get y’all settled safely. Piggies need a trough for feeding now that they have grown. Hope is a great helper. Seems just naturally understands what to do. Don’t forget a porta-potty. Paper towel and toilet paper. I like the little Angel watching over the shelter. Look underneath those chairs for spiders. Good clean up . Leave room in the shelter for yourselves.. 😳 😏where are the German Shepards? Be safe…

We live at the north east end of tornado alley . NW Ohio . There have been few , but nithing where we live . The last bad one we had was in 02 or 03 . It was close enough to shake our house . Hope and pray yall will be okay . Seeya

Glad you're getting a shelter and I know that brings you some peace of mind. You might want to put a small first aid kit in there too. We're in North Central Texas and we've had some severe thunderstorms, but have avoided the tornadoes and flooding other parts of Texas have received.

Down here in Houston it’s been the rain that’s been crazy. Not as bad as Harvey but seventeen inches of rain puts a strain on our area lakes and their dams. My oldest friend lives in Quapaw so we follow Oklahomas weather closely. Prayers to all that’s been effective by the recent tornados.
