I’ve been to the UK (I was born there, grew up in the US, then returned on vacation after graduating high school). It definitely seems a lot better than the US. I should mention that the vacation was a rather well-rounded trip. My parents, siblings, grandmother and I spent the first half exploring the rural countryside by rental van, admiring the scenery and locating the graves of some of our ancestors. We stayed at an inn 1 night and spent another several nights at an AirB&B. The second half of the trip focused on more urban settings: Liverpool, Oxford, and London. At Liverpool, we visited the waterfront and the cathedral (where my great-grandmother once spilled rice pudding on the floor while it was partially under construction). The Whispering Arch was the coolest part. I already knew the geometric principle behind it, but nothing beats experiencing it in-person. Oxford was pretty cool. We visited a bookstore that sold a lot of Tolkien’s works, and that’s basically the main thing I remember. In London, we stayed in the suburbs in the flat of our former landlady. It got crowded, so my dad, my younger brother and I went and stayed at a local Boy Scouts base, each in a separate room. We didn’t go _everywhere_ there is to go, but we _did_ go to the Globe Theatre, the Tower of London, the London Eye, Westminster Abbey (seeing Stephen Hawking’s grave in-person was quite an experience), the British Museum, Platform 9&3/4 (where I didn’t find a Ravenclaw keychain to buy), the London Eye (where I _did_ find a Ravenclaw keychain to buy), and the AirB&B my godfather was staying at (he also lives in the US but was coincidentally there at the same time as we were).

The accent thing is common here in Italy as well, Sardegna's dialect is recognized as an official language

I was raised on British television (states lad) ; I was the odd child that talked about Poirot, Blackadder, etc in class and got many confused looks. But on the plus side it’s something my father and I do when I visit home to make ourselves laugh silly.
