So this is not about babies (I thought you may pick up on that when I talk about erections, taking a shower on your own, putting on condoms, etc). You are somewhat correct that the foreskin should stretch as the penis grows, but I am a trained physican and have actually treated phimosis in adolescents, so your statement about it stretching on its own every time is incorrect. The phimosis description is for those teenagers who are unsure if they’re normal. My platform is to provide education and reassurance. Furthermore, there are TONS of competent and knowledgeable doctors in America. Please don’t make proclamations to the contrary, especially as you haven’t established your own authority on any of this. Thank you.

You are correct and the medical term for that membrane is the preputial lamina which literally fuses the prepuce to the glans similar to how the finger nails are fused to the nail bed. Sadly most doctors who trained in the US do not know about this anatomical structure and its proper name.

I love that idea! I will! And...not concerned, but not all doctors are educated on the importance of the exam. It's likely more a reflection of their comfort with bringing the topic up. I would definitely talk with your son about the exam (prepare him) and then ask your doc the next time you're in if they could do the exam. As a teen, it really should just be a look to make sure everything is developing as expected during puberty and to make sure both testicles are present.

Are you able to roll back when you erect?

In my culture (it works better when you are younger). Liberally apply coconut oil to the foreskin, then gently peel back just before it begins to feel uncomfortable, hold for about 5 seconds and then let it relax. Do this for 5 minutes each day until you can peel it all the way back. This gentle stretching may take a few weeks, but be patient and you will be happy.

Young boys who have not been shamed by an ignorant parent will instinctively take care of this potential problem, especially during and after puberty.

Be very, very gentle. Tearing the frenulum can not only be painful but it can scar and cause a more pronounced curve. I really would recommend a discussion with your doctor to go over topical medication options (or a surgical loosening of the frenulum) if the curve is bothersome or painful.

I saw a Urologist about this he said the only solution is to get circumcised. I told him I would rather not. I was just wondering if I could get this cream as well? Do you have to get a prescription to get this cream or can you buy it over the counter?

Also I am unable to fully retract my foreskin it only retract half way down the head of the penis when flaccid and there is not pain. I actually prefer not to be able to retract it all the way as I think this is very grouse.

It's OK. Just practice. The skin will start stretching out. If you can pull it all the way back, that's good, cuz you have to clean in there. And, you should have enough to cover the head totally so it doesn't hurt when you walk. Plus extra. If it hurts, don't do it, but that might tell you something to practice to achieve.

The fact is that, yes, for many uncircumcised individuals the foreskin does fully retract with erection, and I try to distinguish this from phimosis (you probably know this but that's when the foreskin opening is too tight to be retracted). In a recent video I address a similar question about excess foreskin, and I provide reassurance (and advise some extra lube for condom use). @@NK-tz6ev If your foreskin feels "tight" when it is retracted, that means you have a tight foreskin. A tight foreskin is usually not a medical concern, but it can restrict certain sexual activities. Luckily the foreskin can loosen up over time, and often it will resolve on its own, or your can stretch it yourself by performing safe foreskin stretching exercises. You can look up safe phimosis stretching exercises to learn about this. It will usually only take about a month or two of daily exercises to resolve the tightness you're experiencing, so don't fret! What you have isn't technically phimosis, but the same solution applies. Some men with tight foreskins don't find it to be a problem and don't seek a solution, and as long as they can retract it to clean, its totally up to them to leave it as is. Not a problem.

Pain? That would depend. If it's all the time, it could just be that your head is very sensitive and will need more time to adjust. When engaging in intercourse, try a condom and lubrication to help with the sensitivity. If it's a newer pain, it could be an infection ("balanitis," a skin infection on the tip is pretty common and should resolve in 3-5 days; or you can put topical antibiotic ointment on it).

In order for a man to have personal experiences that are relevant to the circumcsion debate, he has to have been circumcised after a minimum of 5-10 years of sexual experience. I have been intact all of my life. Nearly all people who can make a meaningful contribution to the circumcision debate are women and gay men. In other words, end users of penises understand the foreskin much better than foreskin owners.

Yeah i mean that's what i did for long time and it's a pretty good feeling(not at first) bcs after some time my glans are not that sensitive any more and i can do with my foreskin whatever i want with no problem whatsoever anymore, back or forth with foreskin it doesn't matter for me anymore as it got loose and glans got thicker and no more sensitive glans, my girl loves it and i think it's best of both worlds, it's like am circumcised but am not and i can do with it whatever i want, but still have care for it i did it permanently for some time bcs i wanted to do that and train my skin and glans but didn't feel good for long time until my foreskin loose abit and my glans got less sensitive, also if my penis is flacid foreskin will again cover it bcs it's got very loose from doing that, keep in mind you can have phimosis and pulling it back can give you bit of pain at first but with training of your foreskin can solve that over time.

You are so wrong! Are you familiar with smegma? It's a natural secretion found under the foreskin of a guy's penis or under the hood of a gal's clitoris. It has a thick cheesy consistency, whitish in color. It has an unpleasant odor and builds up as a result of poor hygiene. Smegma must be gently washed from under the penis foreskin and clitoral hood. Although a natural substance, it can cause irritation, and the odor can make the kid socially unpopular .
